I've watched tons of novel adapted dramas and changing certain things from the novel is inevitable. So, I am not surprised if there will be changes, but what I am also hoping for is that those changes they made still do justice to the story.

I haven't caught up with the latest episodes and is still on ep 7. There's this scene during the gambling house where Tao Hua and Shen Zaiye both executed their plan, while Tao Hua was gambling with the heir, they showed scenes of Shen Zaiye speaking up the answer to her "big". This specific scene leads me to question, did Shen Zaiye speak these words aloud that everyone in the room can hear it and if so why didn't this alert the heir she was going against with? if not, how was Tao Hua able to get the answer? (this isn't of much importance but I am someone who likes to pay close attention to details and I just couldn't wrap my head around this particular scene)

I like them and hope they both collaborate in another drama again

Bai Lu's performance in AMA is indeed one of her strong performances so I understand how impactful it is, though I do suggest you give The Legends another try, her role as Lu Zhao Yao is really good too and it's her first ever xianxia role.

I share the same sentiments with you, ep 11-12 is where the real plot is, so it's best to see up to that point before dropping. I enjoyed the earlier episodes as well, I even got to appreciate it more after the revelations.

they went with an unconventional happy ending, it was satisfying personally for me but others might thing otherwise.
