i think they portrayed lin'an so well. it was like a fourth of the book! the book had so much details. from fcy's cooking to xz's quiet plotting and investigation. it's sweet they added his dialogue about living a simpler life in lin'an. i wish the show was more than 40 episodes!

in the book, they each killed a rebellion leader/brother in the same battle. he woke up and killed the one guy before he made his way to grab her off the field. i dont recall if they went into details for this battle but he def has battle scenes. they also said he basically went on a killing spree during their second split. & the final battle.

he's just in too deep ha. he had legit reasons in the beginning, now it's ridiculous although entertaining and i love me some groveling from my male leads.
in all seriousness, he likes being seen as yz in her eyes and being taken care of instead of being the powerful xz that everyone feared. she met a version/part of him he couldnt be anywhere else and they fell in love when he was yz. fearing that someone wouldnt want you otherwise is valid and although fcy wouldnt do that to him, he had no way of knowing for sure either.
i think it also adds to and balances out the story as a whole because their identities are the biggest conflicts between the two.

lol wdym wydm? besides this being fictional and all sorts of ridiculous, he literally dismissed his men. realistically, there was a lack of honest communication so something bad was bound to happen. theyre in the middle of a war so everyone's running around and he dismissed them because it was his own wife tending to him. the same capable wife that drugged and carried him away. i think she wouldve fought whoever stood in her way to save her dumb, wounded, and never healing husband.
