Title Once Again
How is this drama in terms of character development and romantic chemistry? Are the actors stiff and wooden? Is…
the characters and chemistry are by far the best part of the drama. it'll make you laugh, root for them, and be eternally frustrated by them all at once. the actors are far from wooden and their relationships (romantic, familial and platonic) are all written realistically which is quite remarkable considering their hectic and dramatic situations. its definitely a feel good show that will make you smile.

that being said, with the huge cast of characters, there will definitely be storylines that you'll like more than some. for example while i like pretty much all the main cast and especially like the main couple, the aunt's storyline bores me and i skip most of her scenes

I love your enthusiasm, but objectively, not much has changed. Na-Hee is still dating the director. Gyu-Jin never…
looks like my wishes came true, and in a lot less than 20 episodes hahaha

bruh this has a score of 9.3, it doesn't really get much better than that
i haven't started yet because i hate to watch ongoing dramas but with such a high rating, it better be as good as my ultimate favourite show 'my mister' lol. especially seeing how this has a higher score than that show

after seeing him in parasite and the travel show trans siberian pathfinders, i finally decided to give his dramas a watch. i started with my wife's having an affair just 4 days ago and have already finished both that and my mister. i can safely say i've completely fallen in love with his acting (not to mention that fking voice pls help).

i'm planing to watch diary of a prosecutor next, but if i finish that too then i won't have anything lee sun kyun to watch for a while because i don't like watching old shows so i'm seriously torn :((( or are there any of his old dramas/ movies that are actually worth watching that somene can recommend me?

Thanks for writing this article. I must be one of the few who never watched My Mister (it gave me a very sad vibe…
hi from the future. if you still have not watched my mister because its sad, let me see if i can convince you.
make no mistake, it most definitely is a miserable show. but it is miserable in a way that comforts you. you end up finding comfort and daresay camaraderie in the characters who try their hardest to live no matter how pathetic they may be. its not the kind of show that will take away your pain or sadness or stress or whatever, but it is one that will sit there with you and tell you its ok, that its not a big deal. it is after all, a drama about healing and the power of human compassion.

i think my favourite thing about this drama was how they handled park dong hoon's character. its not often that you see depressed leads in dramas, much less, depressed characters that don't just have 'tortured' as their sole character trait. instead, this drama goes ahead and does the most masterfully executed form of show not tell i've ever seen in drama. throughout the whole show, not once was the word 'depression' used, and even 'die' was hardly used at all. but with the smallest of expressions, the unspoken words, the tension in silence, the ragged breaths, the things that park dong hoon's gaze falls on, the footsteps that start and stop, they all spoke volumes of his internal turmoil. i love that life isn't hard for him because of some great misfortune or trauma that happened, but that its hard for him because its hard for him, and that doesn't make him any less valid of a person.

i watched this to fill the void after finishing 'my wife's having an affair', and i just finished it yesterday. binged it in 2 days and now i'm stuck with an indescribable feeling of sadness (every time i listen to the ost 'grown ups' i cry like wtf i never cry usually) and hating that it ended way too fast. lee sun kyun is truly a outstanding actor. now i want to watch another one of his dramas to fill the void that 'my mister' left but at the same time i don't want to move on too quickly lol

btw the way you wrote about their relationship has to be the most articulate one i've read so far and that's truly commendable.

i am aware that nothing much has changed, but its just nice to finally see something different after like 20 episodes of basically emotionally charged glances at each other with neither admitting that they were jealous or still in love

i also agree that they shouldn't get back together if neither of them changes, but with them being the main couple, them getting back together is pretty much an eventuality so i'm hoping that gyu jin's realisation will finally get the ball rolling

from episode 56 looks like the doctors couple will finally see some headway now that gyu jin has come to terms with his lingering feelings for na hee and rejected bo yeong (i love love love that he did that and didn't lead her on even if it may mean that he might lose a good friend). DOCTORS COUPLE SHIPPERS WE HAVE NOT WAITED IN VAIN

a lot of people have criticised the doctors couple for not being suited for each other and being boring compared to the other couples but honestly they have remained my favourite couple since episode 1 because they seem to be the most realistic couple. i mean how often do you see couples not getting along and being miserable apart for longer than 2 episodes in kdramas? not only that, they just had a divorce, it would be even weirder if they were all chummy and forgotten everything that had happened between them within a few months.

but yes i also have got to admit, it is hella frustrating when its an ongoing drama and you only get like 4min of on screen progress a week. maybe i should abstain for like 3 weeks lolllll

At this point I'm soooo done with Gyu Jin and Na Hee. They're boring, annoying and pretty much every other storyline…
during the first 20 episodes, they were on screen all the time. now that other relationships are blossoming, the focus has shifted off them to like the THREE other couples. i don't think its a bad thing that they loveline is barely progressing nowadays, in fact its extremely realistic. i mean who the fk divorces then gets back together in a few months forgetting all the bad blood that had happened between them in the first place. their loveline might be the most frustrating out of all of them but its also for that reason that it is my favourite. we can't have smooth sailing couples all the time and we can't have perfect communication between a couple all the time.

yes cutesy, lovable couples like da hee and jae seok with no frustration whatsoever might be more fun to watch, but remember this is a family drama, not a fluffy romantic one. it can't be a family drama without overly prolonged tension lol

i definitely ship jeongrok sunbae x nahee more than than with gyujin bc there's a clear reason why they divorced…
to be honest, other than gyu jin's mom, i don't think their relationship had anything like a toxic dealbreaker. their relationship was pretty much a severe, severe case of communication breakdown that was driven by their grief. i believe they would still have worked if they BOTH wanted to reconcile and put in effort to talk to each other instead of arguing every 5 seconds.
problem was, they didn't because of na hee's tendency to bulldoze ahead and gyu jin's tendency to just accept things as they are.

can this writer just stop being so good at stringing me along and fk off???? HOW TF DOES THAT PERSON MANAGE TO WRITE CHEMISTRY SO WELLLLL?? one moment i hated the hyo shin - ga hee ship cause they didn't have many scenes together and seemed awkward, and the next moment i'm dying because of them. one moment i hated jeong rok because i just wanted poor gyu jin to be happy, and the next moment jeong rok and na hee seems kinda cute because she's trying so hard and he's so charming. FKKKK I NEED TO MAKE UP MY MIND

this show is really the best when binged, i'm so glad i purposely kept away for 3 weeks

I really really want the Gyu Jin Na Hee couple to work out because its so sad to keep seeing their little emotionally charged glances at each other. But at the same time, unless Na Hee is the one to make an effort to want him back, I don't want it either because Gyu Jin is too good for her. Help ):

Im sorry but I find it so dumb to sign the document they signed, like who in their right mind would agree to sign…
They weren't in their right minds though. Their whole thing was that in exchange for having this relationship, they will make themselves into hateful sinners who will accept any punishment that comes their way.
Anyway I thought that scene was quite brilliant to show just how toxic the wife was that she would do anything to keep her husband, even if it would be akin to a trophy or pet. And what made it even more toxic was her dismissal of the marriage registration but her insistence on having that document signed lol
