oh fk i shouldn't have opened that spoiler. i'm at ep 3 and i definitely had some t h o u g h t s about some of the couples

hmm i wouldn't say that we knew who the bad guys were, imo we only knew one: the big bad guy (and that was super annoyingly predictable and my only, but biggest, disappointment with this show). the involvement of the other characters were pretty interesting and the addition of the 'unreliable narrator' storytelling device made it more so.

however, i do agree that the second half was carried more by various high impact scenes (ie. park jung je's scene, han joo won in the rain scene, nam sang bae's scene, scenes with the two leads) the rather than the overall plot which started heading in a more cliched direction

i disagree but maybe it's because i could binge it so i didn't feel the wait. instead of saying that it dragged on the story, i would instead say that it felt like a new arc started with the focus shifting more to joo won and the tension and dynamic between the two of them evolving

it's only 71/95 done now oh no looks like it might take months to finish the remaining 6 episodes. i guess i'm just gonna struggle through the raws lol

(this is all my preference and opinion)
imo it's not darker, it's more unrealistic. anyone can put really fked up things in their story but to me, when it gets darker, it also needs to be more realistic to truly kick you in your gut. if not, it just comes off as fiction and it doesn't affect me at all. tbh, when i watched penthouse i never had a suspension of disbelief moment nor could i put myself in the characters' shoes. during the car bullying scene i was scoffing at how ridiculous the plot was. to me, my mister is a masterclass on how to write dark, realistic, and deeply heartwrenching plots

i just watched up to ep 3 too, it really isn’t for me hahahah at least i had a good time laughing at the kind of plot lines that they’re coming up with

i really hate logic gaps and lack of common sense (ie. most makjangs) but i love dark fked up plots and i really loved sky castle. should i give this a shot? if so, how many episodes should i give it?

the first ep was really meh, too much shitty cgi and too many emotional plots that the audience doesn't have time to care about. but damn the episodes in modern time are sooo intriguing

i think it's about your expectations! it's an enjoyable show, but if you're looking for a deep dive into politices (like stranger), this definitely isn't the one. it's basically a thriller that happens to have a politics as a backdrop

idk why but i really like smart and scummy characters :0 i rather them be competent but a selfish scum, than be accomodating to everyone but very clearly incapable of protecting those they take under their wing

i finished it and i never liked him once. idk i think just don't like incompetent but extremely idealistic characters (sangwoo was my favourite)

being very honest, this was amazing up till the end of the marble game. after that, it just became really cliche and holy wtf who decided to include the VIPs. they added literally no substance to the show and their little comments were kinda cringe ngl. ending was the worst part, really showed that at the end of it all mc did not mature in the slightest. like ffs the last time he came back from the game, he found that his mother died alone, but oh yesss turn your back on your daughter and participate in the game again!
