Title Shiyakusho Spoiler
Shimura, Ishima and Hayashi all have stories where you see their perspective and can empathize with them but Nishikawa…
they were also my favorite characters when I watched the drama. I actually only started to read the manga because I wanted to find out what happened to Nishikawa, so I was initially frustrated that her story didn't actually clear anything up but in retrospect, I think it makes sense. The whole manga is filled with stories that are never resolved and people who make terrible decisions and I think that's what makes it so realistic despite the fantasy setting. (also, sorry for the essays but I really love the manga/drama haha)

yes exactly, I also thought it made sense because Hayashi would probably tell anyone about his story but Nishikawa wouldn't. One of the few scenes when she actually appears in "her" story we just see her accepting the verdict (from what I remember). So I thought it was interesting that, in the end, we still don't know anything even though we know what she did.

I'm reading the manga on Kindle via the Japanese Amazon shop

True. I didn't mean the crime itself but the way it's portrayed though, so sorry if I didn't phrase it correctly. For Hayashi's story we see everything from his POV, so we know why he did what he did, even if we don't agree with what he did. But for Nishikawa we see everything from the perspective of a different character, not from hers, so we don't get the chance to understand her in any way. That's what I mean. I'm not excusing infanticide in any way, I just meant that when we learn something about Nishikawa, she isn't the protagonist in her story which is super rare for any stories about staff members. Usually they are, so we usually know what happened to them.

It probably took between 3 to 4 hours to go there. I have no idea if they stayed for the night, maybe they stayed…
okay, point taken that it's technically possible

That's still pretty far and no, they said nothing about staying anywhere. They didn't bring any luggage though and they were in Shifen at night, so.... still weird to me

Person Seungri
wow. it's insane how this guy got away with a light sentence and how there are actually people painting him as a victim. I can only assume that people defending him were never assaulted and that is great for them but that doesn't change the fact that there are no reliable numbers on sexual assault because the potential backlash is such a massive issue. I was once molested and it was nowhere near as serious as the trafficking that happened at burning sun but I still haven't told a single soul about it until this day because i still feel ashamed although I was the victim. how can there be people who were never confronted with something like that and who have more empathy for a guy who clearly lives a cozy life than for women who will suffer for the rest of their lives?

The movie is created precisely according to an original material which is manga and anime afterwards.... but that…
haha, yeah, that's kind of what I meant. Movies with manga/anime logic are just built differently.

I'm currently trying to get through the first episode but that is exactly what I keep thinking. Completely forgot why I avoided hospital dramas for years...

Title The Floor Plan Spoiler
So I first watched the movie and liked it a lot but there were things that I thought didn't add up. I'm now reading…
Like, in the movie Amemiya broke into the house in Tokyo and very easily found blood and the trap door and I wondered how no one thought that was odd when they looked at the house? I mean, a strange empty space is nothing compared to literally scratches and blood on the floor????? In the novel meanwhile the writer suggested to have a look at the house and Kurihara immediately said that he probably won't find anything because the real estate agent would have done a proper examination because of course they would have. That's arguably not as exciting as Amemiya's life stream but that did bother me in the movie.

The casting for this is wild. Many of the guys playing high school students are older than the adults around them.

As someone who used to watch too many V6 variety shows, it's so weird that Morita plays a guy called Morita who is/was friends with a guy called Okada.

What bugged me was the scene when they went to Shifen because.... isn't that literally all the way at the other end of Taiwan of you're in Tainan? They went by train, so it would take hours to get there. Did they stay somewhere for the night?

Title Shiyakusho Spoiler
I'm rewatching it and realized that Nishikawa's story isn't in the drama. Since I doubt that there's going to…
Shimura, Ishima and Hayashi all have stories where you see their perspective and can empathize with them but Nishikawa has one of the backstories that aren't super sympathetic (I guess to show that people on death row are usually incarcerated for a good reason). We hear her story from the perspective of the wife of one of her victims who appears in the death office upon her death. Basically, Nishikawa killed three adulterers and cut up their faces with a pair of scissors
