I watched the drama with only 10 episodes subbed two days ago, and I finished the rest of the drama RAW. Yes, RAW. I kind of understand most of what they're saying just by relying on the Chinese hardsubs, except for the business terminologies, I had to use a Google Translate to understand it.
I just wanted to say that this drama is not for anyone. The first three episodes are especially hard to watch if you are uncomfortable with physical abuse (the choking parts). I am in no way tolerating physical abuse nor am I enabling physical abuse in reality, but I have watched a handful of dramas whose male leads are far more worse than Yan Xingcheng. Three episodes later, he gets better though. It does not logically make sense to transform from a abusive to a caring person over a single night/episode, but since it's a drama, just turn off your logic when you watch this.
This drama got me wanting for more. Fan Zhixin is indeed a gem when it comes to playing characters like this one. He pulled off a "villain" like character and a "victim" like character (watch the last few episodes for further context). His character was actually depressing to watch, especially he had been through hell all those years. His father died, his mother who went missing and is considered dead for being unable to show up for 17 years, his younger sister who he saw dying in front of him, and lastly, his grandfather, who also died in front of him. He lost a lot of people in his life, thus explaining why he wants to get revenge.
I personally loved this drama because the acting was very well executed, and the chemistry is very much evident. The kisses are just *chef's kiss*. Not to mention that Fan Zhixin looks mature for his age, he's only 22 when he filmed this drama. It may come as a surprise that he's 6 years younger than the FL in real life, but you won't even feel like it's the other way around when you're watching the drama. He's very charismatic and oh god, he's hella hot in most scenes. He looks like a baby when his hair are down though.
Overall, watch this if you are up for a roller coaster ride of emotions and if you are up for angst, because this drama can make you cry in a matter of seconds. There are also a lot of twists that aren't revealed immediately. So, it's not what you always think it is, is the truth.
Another addition of my guilty pleasure dramas to watch when I want to feel something. Hahahaha.
I love how this drama normalized two things that should be normal in today's society: 1) Men can also be an avid fan of webnovels like Secretary Lin. They wrote him as a person who's a fan of romance webnovels contrary to how he looks. And we can tell that he's sincere about his love for it, and that made him a much more better man for Yao Jiajia since he can ride her jokes and antics. They compliment each other very well that I didn't even skip a single second of the scenes that they are together because they are simply too adorable.2) Exes are not as bad as people think (at least if the relationship ended on a good note).I love how Qiao Yu was written to become a stepping stone for Lu Zhaoxi to pursue and realize her feeling for Ye Shilan. I also love that she and Lu Zhaoxi remained good friends without any strings attached (as exes should) and without those evil intentions which are typically portrayed by exes in Chinese dramas nowadays. Ye Shilan's jealousy was reasonable at first since she wasn't aware that they're just really good friends, and she and Ye Shilan even became friends too. It just shows that she has put her faith to Lu Zhaoxi, and that he would remain faithful to her for the rest of their relationship. The fact that Ye Shilan trusted her, and she sees Qiao Yu not as Lu Zhaoxi's ex-boyfriend but as a real friend speaks volumes.
As expected with the makers (esp the screenwriter) of Go Ahead, The Day of Becoming You! THEY DON'T DISAPPOINT! Cdrama screenwriters should take notes about good writing, we need to see more masterpieces like this!
Hi! Please spoil me. 1. How did it end? 2. Lovetriangle? 3. Breakups? 4. When did they get together? Thank you!
1. The drama ended with Lu Wanwan and Han Jingmo having two kids. 2. There was subtle love triangle at first, but it didn't persist until the end because the SML falls for Han Jingmo's childhood jiejie. 3. None. 4. They become official at Episode 16.
I hope a translation team can pick up the raw novel where this was based from. It's hard to read them just by solely relying to Google Translate because of the countless game lingo and slangs used in the novel that doesn't have a direct translation from Mandarin. I am mad at the drama because of the editing issues so I really hope the novel can be a great redemption and compensation for all of the mess we just watched. π
I am not watching the last two episodes because of two reasons: 1) They fucked up Lu Guanghan and Gu Qiaobei's supposed to be budding "romance" (fuck censorship again), and 2) I don't want the drama to end, at least for me. π
Itβs complete in iqiyi because I watched the ending of it there.
Yeah, but some of the people here might not have VIP subscription to iQiyi (I'm one of them), and mostly we watch them on Myasiantv and Kisskh. They might be confused because of the abrupt cut of the episode, so I just want to let them know too.
If you have seen Episode 20 and it ended when Lu Wanwan said "I'll say it one more time", that is NOT the final…
If you check the link, the scene is continued on the timestamp 35:17 - 41:29. It doesn't have subs, unfortunately. But I could understand Mandarin at some point so it was not that much of a big deal for me to understand what they're saying although you can also use google translate on the Chinese subs while you watch it.
For those who are wondering why the episode 20 ended so abruptly, apparently the subbed episode that we saw wasn't the full episode. I checked Duboku and indeed, there were 7 minutes more that wasn't included in the subbed Episode 20 that we saw. You can check it out on the link (I'll post in on the reply below). I checked Kisskh and Myasiantv and the last few minutes of the episode weren't subbed. I confirmed it when I checked it on Duboku (a free Chinese streaming website like Myasiantv but it's China based).
I just started watching this drama and the MFL and her friend need to straighten out their teeth. I found it very…
"The beauty is in the eye of the beholder." If you don't like how the female lead looks like, then at least acknowledge her acting skills. There is no way her crooked teeth hindered her to act well in the drama. And to add, beauty standards can be different per person, but one's flaw (especially a flaw that can't be fixed overnight) do not depreciate a person's attractiveness.
