Haha omg so true.. I get upset sometimes too and the ML, has not seduced me enough yet to absolve him of all his sins. Haha he needs to work for it. No of course it does not justify it, but I think he is trying to protect her, because she is somehow related to the consort of the emperor of the previous dynasty and the tattoo on her body and possibly her memories are the key to some kind of treasure, so I wonder if there have been attempts to hurt or abduct the FL before that have not been shown yet and maybe that was why he was so controlling, I think he is not as bad as he looks. I think ML will be redeemed somehow,,,, Then again could be my own wishful thinking haha

haha I can understand what you mean, but as the story progressed a lot more gets revealed. Obviously as other commenters told you, he didnt take advantage of her and at the end of ep9 he actually says that he only wants to marry her with her wholehearted consent but he is not above manipulation... But I think theres more to the story. I think he is the way he is because his father raped his mother in order to trap her to be with him, even though she was in love with someone else. And then she got pregnant with ML and that marked her marriage to his father so I suppose his mother hates him for that...and the ML hates both his father for being an awful person and his mother for not loving him, even though it was not his fault he was conceived like that. Its a mess, but one I am enjoying hahaha

Yep, I wouldnt want a controlling obsessive man anywhere near me in real life, but in dramas if it is done well, I enjoy it, as long as he is redeemed in the end. haha

I dont really understand why people think that if assault is depicted in a drama, it is there because we applaude it. I mean its there because it used to happen in the past, we all know that women used to be property, but either way I am sure that women of that era, tried and succeeded in getting their happiness too. Its not always black and white, theres grey too and everything, and although I do not like women getting manhandled, I believe that if it is true and it helps the story move forward it is ok. Not all people are perfect, they make mistakes and sometimes they redeem themselves, sometimes not. Its all in the story. As far as this story is concerned, I think its still very early so we do not know the complete context or everyones motivations. I will wait, personally before I decide how to feel about it. :P

and maybe that is why in episode 9, he says that he only wants to be with FL if she wholeheartedly accepts him and consents. He does not want to do what his father possibly did to his mother, in order to keep her in his grasp. He is not above manipulation and coercion, though, so he made FL think he had already touched her...

I enjoyed your comment very much, a lot of your thoughts are similar to mine but I am not as eloquent haha. I got from the conversation of ML with his mother, that his mother was in love with someone else, but his father (her husband) forced himself on her, raped her because he wanted her and she got pregnant with ML, so she had no choice but to marry him, causing her unhappines and possible hate and resentment towards her own child. Imagine being forced to keep the child of your rapist, Is that your take as well?
Because that might explain why ML hates both his father (if he is a rapist he is definitely not a good person) and his mother for not loving him, although he needed it. But if he is the product of rape I can kinda understand this dilemma. What a burden to shoulder, if that is the case. No wonder the ML is as dark as he is. Maybe FL was his only light in the darkness and that is why he wants to keep her untainted etc....

You are so right, in the first couple of episodes I thought he was typically evil, but as the story is developing there seems to be some depth in him, what with his mother not wanting him and all that. I think we will eventually understand that he is more compassionate than he looks... but he is definitely grey... I am ok with that though haha

I loved it too. It was straightforward, easy to follow, had great chemistry between the leads and had a satisfying ending. Overall I enjoyed it very much!! The passion was there, definitely and I too would love to see the main leads acting together in another drama!!!

ok I just finished this and I can say I enjoyed it immensely!! The chemistry, all the kissing, the story which was not as complicated and convoluted as in other shows, made this very enjoyable. I was really fond of the deep love ML+FL had for each other. They were adorable together and FL was so funny, really nice actress. Ryan Ren really did a great job showing how much love he had for FL. Loved their acting and would love to see them again in a drama!!
SML was atrocious but the actor did a good job. SFL redeemed herself in the end.
