So it's been a while since I finished watching this and I'm still in awe at the chemistry between the main couple. I loved them so much and would rewatch the show multiple times for them (whilst skipping the other couple ofc.) The development of the main relationship was so good and the tension they built up was soo incredible.
People saying the plot is weak but I've loved it. Slow burn is my favorite thing ever, expecially enemies/rivals to lovers. Truly a superior trope. I've really loved this drama a lot, the characters, the chemistry. I will point out that I binge watched the episodes which I personally think makes a show more enjoyable-particularly for something like this (a slow burn). I also loved Duean and think he's such a funny character and Ive enjoyed his scenes a lot.
LMAO thanks for reminding me! In a very succinct answer I'll conclude that it was not a mistake. As a less succinct answer; 3 months have passed since I watched it so i can't say I remember everything but it wasnt bad. I liked the concept, my main negative point (that I remember) was I personally didn't like how long the 'misunderstanding/angst' was dragged out for, it felt unnecessary. Ig that's just personal preference tho. The show didn't leave a huge impact on me, hence why I have such little feedback/memory of it but again, it was enjoyable and did have its moments of being cute.
Not to make a comment solely about the bed scene, but it was possibly one of the hotest intimate scenes ever. It was when Licheng said "you're mine" and Muren responded by smirking into the kiss and saying "I'm yours" Truly lost my mind. I think diaglogue in intimate scenes in BLs is always lacking but I think history 4 did it so well to have just those 2 lines but it was enough to amplify the chemistry and heat.
The acting of the cast was insanely good. Although I was not a fan of the brothers storyline, they didnt fail to put on an incredible performance. Moving past that, Licheng and Muren were just incredible. The development of their relationship was great and I enjoyed that the angst between them wasn't too dragged out. Personally, I liked the final plot point where chengren worked together to overcome the issue, it was just so heart warming. Honestly loved the chemistry between chengren, seriously undeniable. Id pay to see them act together again

I imagine the drama is trying to expel concepts of toxic masculinity and gay stereotypes. Tum shows he's well versed about makeup, fashion and sewing which are typically 'feminine' interests hence why tiffy makes an incorrect assumption he's gay. The show is trying to highlight why associating these interests with 'gayness' is harmful.
I want a whole season of just pure domesticity and wholesomeness. Although I know people would call it boring, I'm just here for SamYu absolutely bodying their roles for another season.

Everything you pointed out is exactly how the BL industry makes money off gay people. It tells stories about gay people (hence profiting off them) without actually hiring gay actors which limits them even though they deserve to tell their own stories. A lot of BL content comsumption comes from people who fetishize mlm relationships and as a result they can often fall into the trap of enjoying tropes which actually prepetuate gross stereotypes. As long as there's an audience enjoying those stereotypes, the industry is gonna keep it alive.

Yes it is; there are types of consent such as verbal or written, even implied. But consent must be 'freely given' this is where a person is not pressured or influenced by drugs and or alcohol. I'd also like to tell you that people who have been under the influence and were unknowingly taken advantage of may well have enjoyed and participated in the activity at the time. This happened to me with 2gether the series. I saw soo many complaints about it that I never watched it and when i eventually got around to watching it months later, I enjoyed it soo much. I guess its because I didn't see as many complaints regarding actual problematic shows so I assumed 2gether would be super bad....mistake
So many mixed opinions. I shouldn't really be reading other's opinions before watching it myself because everyone likes different sorts of shows and plot.
