yeah makes sense. as the 2nd guy he could have survived. but he is blinded by money, since he has struggled hard and lost on a lot of things in his actual life due to the lack of money. so he is hell bent on getting some money as well so that when he returns to earth for sure, he is able to live comfortably and not struggle again - which was the reason why he ended his life in the first place.

but I think now that he has had the realisation of what really matters/mattered in his life, his techniques to remain alive will change.
