I know everyone is ranting about the last 10 minutes, but it’s the very last scene that got me. How could they be the very last thing we see? It feels like a set up for a spinoff a la Hidden Love --> First Frost…..but nobody asked for that lol
Who's watching both When Destiny Brings the Demon and Moonlit Reunion? Please objectively tell me which story…
Both are burdened by annoying/frustrating side characters, but the chemistry between the leads in When Destiny Brings the Demon is soooooooo much better. Story clarity and progress is also much clearer, so that would be my choice. But Moonlit is actually better than its rating and TXW is great in her role, so you won’t really lose either way.
My only complaint so far… The chemistry between the CP is so great, which makes the overuse of inner monologues and the truth spell a little exhausting.
(1) Brother confesses BEFORE he finds out she’s an evil brat who has been bullying and scheming against his…
What he likes about her? Now that she isn’t the popular rich girl, now that his mom doesn’t work in her house, now that she’s aimless and reckless, she’s finally attainable to a middle class lovable idiot with unconventional career goals like him.
I think they can't save them after making 2fl just evil without any redeeming qualities in the first arc of the…
But remember the brother liked her from when she was “best friends” with the GXJ. In the first life (and his only life) her mask as a nice girl was firmly in place. The audience still wouldn’t like her, but it would at least make sense why the brother DID (he still has to give up on her after the attempted murder on the mountain).
But you’re also right, it’s wayyyyyy too late now. I hate both characters but feel bad for the actors that we are all skipping their scenes because of how poorly it’s written lol
The writers could have saved the 2fl and brother from being utterly insufferable if they just made 3 changes…
(1) Brother confesses BEFORE he finds out she’s an evil brat who has been bullying and scheming against his sister. (2) still goes after her on the mountain to make sure she’s physically safe and to confirm his suspicions, but once he knows, tells her outright how cruel and disgusting her behavior is and that he can’t like her anymore. (3) 2fl FINALLY has a wake up call and works to change on her own once getting to college. Admits and apologizes to GXJ and then she pursues the brother.
Wang Ying Lu is one of the few who can be youthful, naive and playful without it seeming childish and annoying. Arthur Chen plays the tortured, revenge driven but softhearted badass so well. Perfect casting. Great start. Praying to the cdrama gods they don’t let me down later.
It’s honestly… fine. The marketing and promotion set different expectations from what is actually in the show. So if you’ve been desperately waiting or a huge fan of the novel, you’ll be a bit disappointed. But if you’re a cdrama regular and just looking for your next show, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Wait… the lace choker with a bow has to be years ahead of its time or the ugliest thing ever. If I was an actress with any pull I would make/ask/hope the costume department picks the furthest thing from my actual taste of a wedding dress, so I understand how it lives here, but please tell me we all did a double take at that wedding dress
HELP! If you’ve also read the novel can someone please explain the very end with Zhan Yang. I’m pretty sure his character doesn’t exist in the show, so it’s not quite a spoiler, but please respond with the spoiler tag so everyone doesn’t hate us.
No way did they both talk about how much they miss their families, but only mentioned their kids… sooooo you don’t miss your wife or was that a lost in translation thing?
And ‘give me the seal, abandon your family, and stay with me’ is a crazy request - especially after just 2 weeks!
Everything still makes her seem… selfish at best. Would not make a life and death pledge with her that’s for sure.
At every opportunity JX has proven to be kind/loyal/righteous. Literally EVERY time Ming Tang doubts him he proves her wrong. Which is why it’s exhausting watching her twist herself into yet another misunderstanding.

Stealing and losing the gui seal that your dad was willing to let your whole family die for is some real selfish/dumb way to avenge him smh.
