yea i would agree but then there was the girl in his class who is living with her mum who is also divorced but…
Whatever happens in your life, you will be affected (whether you realized or not). And you will need an outlet for it. In the girl's case, like flsek02 said, we weren't shown the actual processed of her coming in terms with the experience.
I believe that, some are better at reducing the impact of their emotions, and some, like Joon Young, prefers to be rebellious, because there are things in his heart that he couldn't express.
One day, all the things that are traumatic to you subconsciously, it might resurface again when you face a situation. It can be in the form of your opinion, world view, perspective, act, principles, actions, emotional stability, and more.
The feelings are a complex and delicate matter, and for it's unfair to put everyone in the same box.
That girl, too, I'm sure is also impacted by the divorce. We had no idea she already found peace with the situation, and because if she's not, one day she'd have to face that turmoil again.
I'm telling you this, because I wish people would understand that life is full of twists itself. You had no idea, the idea you have of yourself and other people can change in just a matter seconds. Now imagine if you or that person is a loved one, surely the effect will be devastating and you will have to find ways to deal with it.

On a personal level, it worries me a little when I see some people's reactions to JY. I /know/ kids like him and…
YES! It's a different issue if what people find troublesome is the kid's acting, but the way he is written, all his reactions- completely relatable and realistic.
Being in his shoes is hard, hard, because he couldn't choose a side. He's an only child. He restrained himself from pouring his own frustrations, fear, and disappointment which results in the series of acts he committed.
I kinda ignore this drama because of the amounts of comments that loathed all the characters action. But seeing them in action, nope, anything that involve emotion can be really messy, and I mean it. Then it leads to illogical acts. Either you repeat in the same mistake, you stick to the wrong person, or you run away. Or anything else that's possible..
On The World of the Married Jul 9, 2020
Your comments here have made me wary about how the characters act, but after watching this drama myself, I understand that only after you were in a position where your principles, boundaries, mentality, and sanity tested that you'd probably understand why the characters did the way they did.
I've seen it myself in real life. Sometimes logic just doesn't work when your emotion takes the upfront seat, especially when you feel hurt, betrayed, or threatened.
For those who think the son is unbearable, he was at the age of puberty and when he went through this shit with his parents, the only outlet to his disappointment and anger towards everything is through his cleptomaniac act, feeling rebellious etc.
This drama is an interesting (and realistic) study to the human nature, so if you're not ready for that, you're gonna hate all the characters actions for real.. lol

i don't find the acting in this drama like anime, it's her who had problems with it.
when i said the exaggerated mannerism, i don't meant it for this dorama, but for the live action dorama/movies in general. then again, not all live action like that. for example, nagi no oitoma was adapted from manga but the acting doesn't come off as unnatural to me.

no problem :3 wouldn't be surprised if you still find it hard to adjust to their acting. it took me years, but even now i'm still picky with the dorama i watched. usually the ones broadcast on WOWOW or TBS have more grounded acting i'd say.

I dropped this drama for reasons I have already forgotten, not sure the acting is like anime because I've seen drama who went full 'anime' like you said and it's worst than this. Japanese people do talk like that in real life. At first I thought it was an exaggeration, but after seeing many vlogs in youtube on them, i can confirm that for you.
As for their mannerism which can feel exaggerated, it's part of the acting genre. They have a particular genre that based it on anime hence the exaggeration you said, but believing that all of japanese drama are like that is what I'll have to disagree with you lol.
If you don't believe me, I have three drama recommendations for you: Cold Case, Saka no Tochu no Ie, and Mother. If you still think it's like anime, then probably you will never get used to the way japanese people act in real life as well haha.

Second this. Think I watched this like in freshmen year of university before dropping it due to life stuffs. started again from first ep this week and had a change of heart.. i guess i'm now better at appreciating the nuances this show have (plenty of them!)

Any similar drama ?
i'm thinking of age of youth, my mister, heard it through the grapevine, and secret love affair if what you're looking for is the complex relationships between characters.

but if its for the immense amount of (unpredictable) plot twists then The Last Empress although it leans more toward comedy. I haven't watch TLE but seems like the reviews pretty much like it.
On My Unfamiliar Family Jun 11, 2020
craziest drama contender of the year.. lol
ok so, i have no idea how many plot twist(s) they will serve each episode, but i'm really enjoying this for the messed-up setup of the relationships.
its a makjang but doesn't feel like one.

I REALLY wanted to love this. I anticipated a 10 star treasure, but for some reason that I can't quite name it…
can guarantee that your preset expectations ruin the experience for you ;( but no, i can see why some people don't feel the completeness, maybe because it put great (and brilliant lol) emphasize on characters interaction moreso than the plot, not that it's lacking for me any less. I saw it as a sitcom the moment the girls and boy have couch's talk, so that's why i treated each ep as independent story rather than a cohesive and branched main storyline.
yes he's definitely ji sung doppelganger!
On Rain or Shine Jun 1, 2020
I had to edit my previous comment as I feel that I wasn't clear enough in addressing my likes
and dislikes of this drama.

It has been on my radar for three years now, and from reading the reviews I learn that most of
the polarizing opinion is on the pacing, which was one of my problem with the show.
It takes a great deal of adaptation for me to settle with slow-paced drama.

I'm liking both main leads and individual, friends and their transition to couple, however
some things did irk me. For example, the external stimuli that revolves around them is the
secondary leads. This element is the most foreign and out-of-place to me, and it's either due to the acting, writing or combination of both. Among all the relationships in the story,
the secondary leads one feels half-baked. No chemistry between themselves and with the
main leads, also the setup feels like the typical rom-com where second lead is interested
with the main lead (which is perfectly fine as I'm not anti-cliches) but in a drama with this
very serious traumatic undertone, it just felt unnecessary and unnatural, and it kind of bothers me.

It's also my fault for reading too much of the comments that talk about pacing, hence I started skipping the scenes from episode 3 onwards thinking that the pace would only hinder
my enjoyment. On the contrary, the pacing gets rounder with each episode, but since I
already in skipping mode, I couldn't stop skipping ><

Particularly the push and pull between main leads made me feel uneasy. I was already
invested with their vulnerable moments together so I couldn't understand why they would
want to be separated from each other.. the way it's executed, using the trope
'the other guys is better than me' aka insecurities takes me back to the older dramas, which although understandably a real-life thing as well but somehow makes me mad.
Again, reading the comments here have opened my
mind because some of you said it felt realistic especially for someone who have undergone
similar traumatic events.

So, even though I found my enjoyment level of this drama to be problematic, I do find the main leads interaction moving and endearing at times, although somehow I couldn't just ignore the secondary leads, every time they're on screen I would want to shoo them away :(

I gave a low rating, but honestly you should just dive deep into this drama to find out if this
drama is meant for you or not. Sometimes we find ourselves in different circumstances that
affect our perspective, mind, and mood, so that even the genre that is usually not your cup of
tea can be the perfect tea to sip.

Best Naoki ever!
But I only watch it for fun so there's many scenes that I skipped. Kotoko's antiques are so unbelievable here but the actress really did great job xD
I give it 5.0 rating but it's definitely not a bad show if you're looking for slapshtick comedy.

Okay, so this looks interesting... but I need to make sure there won't be any inappropriate patient-doctor relationship…
I think you should define what inappropriate means. I'll assume for now that you meant the relationship that goes beyond patient-doctor, such as when both doctor and patient are developing feelings for each other.

In that case, yes, I believe it's already happening, although the doctor is aware that a transference is occurring from the patient. But since it's a romance, I see that the drama will uncover this phenomenon as a non-transference later, showing viewers that love blooms in no place you can control, even if it means defying the norm lol.

Also, there is no sexual innuendo/touch between them. It's pure, only in the new episodes, the patient hugs the doctor from behind and he's shocked so he ran away, making him discussed this with fellow colleagues about the transference issue.
On Kim Ji Young: Born 1982 May 9, 2020
sometimes a movie becomes more relevant and hit harder when you've gone through similar experiences..

thanks to this movie i get to observe the fictional life of a woman who genuinely wants to be a career woman after having child. i know i've always thought about this- i wondered if women ever had the desire to keep on working after marriage and kids, and it's not simply about making money, but for things such as passion, and because she simply loves working, being confined in house 24/7 stressed her out and inflated her mind.

in my country, being a housewife is considered a noble job due to religion, and it's no less than women whom work, and if the husband can take care of the money, it's encouraged for the woman to focus on kids but if she insist on working, she could work from home.

though in Ji Young's case, it's complicated because she enjoyed being a career woman, then she suffered from postpartum depression.. there's a scene where Dae Hyun asked her the idea of a child, and the signs are there- she wasn't ready, perhaps she wants to focus on career first. anyways, the movie is quite subtle with the causal effect.

to explain Ji Young roundabout, it showed one scene where her mom had a breakdown in the family's house after seeing Ji Young's other persona, so she took it to her husband, and it's implicitly stated that the reason could lies in the way the affection was shared in the house, as the culture of patriarchy is deep and rooted in korea, having Ji Young used to her priority seconded to her little brother.

like Ji Young said to the psychiatrist, other people might know their way to face it, but she didn't, that's why she's a mess.. yet no one is really to blame here. even when you're tired, when you hold a certain role, there would be unending tasks and expectation that comes to it.. especially in family-centric culture like korea, that means taking care of both the in-laws and the family, and it's no easy, it gets really tiring, but it's just the same in my country. perhaps asian countries do have much more in common.

8.5/10

I can't help it, but right now I'm TRULY sold with this show cause it really grabs my heart from the very first scene.
I don't know whether the quality will be consistent or not or if I'd be able to not drop it (I tend to drop a lot of drama midways), but from a non-medical perspective, I feel that they put a lot of respect and consideration into the doctors' work and the patients themselves, and most importantly it also shows the complexity of being the patient and having to deal with the illness, and how it's not easy at all.
The acting from all casts (main, supporting, and guests) are great and natural, especially Woo Joo. It hurts seeing her because it felt too real.
On The Most Ordinary Romance May 8, 2020
Rated this 8.5, I enjoyed it a lot. The focus is definitely on their interaction rather than conflicts. As the title stated, it's an ordinary romance, so most of the things they talk about and how they said is very reminiscent of the people/situation I know or I believe to be in real life.
They have really nice (and sexy) on-screen chemistry.
On A Tiger in Winter Dec 6, 2019
I have so many questions after the end credits!
The story is slow, but I was very drawn to all the characters. I won't usually like movie that utilized long shots and low-key things that seem insignificant, but here the actors done a great job in portraying their emotion, although I do wonder what is the story trying to tell.
Was it about Kyung Yoo's abandonment issue and how he find comfort in knowing that a tiger is also abandoned by his friend who left the zoo? The similarity of him and the abandoned tiger is how they both feel lonely.
After the current girlfriend left him without explanation, he stayed at his friend, but soon left again because his friend will have his gf moved there. Through coincidences he met his ex-gf, Yoo Jeong, and while he decided to move into her house, after an argument they had, he was back on road again, wandering around, but then decided to write something about the tiger.
I'm confused with Kyung Yoo and Yoo Jeong's past and what led them to break up, but I'll go with her having used to plagiarized his work or other writer, and her being an alcoholic. But now he left again not because of that, but in times where people were not being nice to him, she also said something that made him felt used and having no worth aside from that.
I don't know what to make of the ending. When he saw the tiger-masked kid, what does that imply? I wish someone can tell me that. Also, what's with the scene where Yoo Jeong opened Kyung Yoo's suitcase and found the worn-out Old Man and the Sea book, which she also kept and seemed to be a gift from him when they dated?
Aside from the characters, I simply love the established and consistent atmosphere throughout the scenes. There's a sense of gloom and loneliness that creep in without being told. The music also amped up this atmosphere, which made me invested in the characters despite the story that doesn't really do anything shocking nor twisting.
8/10.
