You could call her lie a white lie now making her lie of being a teacher and coworker of Zhuang Yu true since she does now work there. It still gives a hint for Zhuang Yu to know she has something to do with that school. The mom wouldn't just use the word teacher as an example because that requires a certain degree (at a university). Besides, she knows a lot of things that have to do with nature, so Zhuang Yu must know that she has learned all this somehow (with her degree). Plus when she was playing her act she tried to act dumb and not smart (person who has a doctorate degree in ornithology which has something to do with nature).
But when you are at a university you need a doctorate degree to like teach students. Plus that scene happened before today's scene which is why I am saying he can put the pieces together like a puzzle piece. That's what he did for the sunscreen incident. Also, Zhuang Yu heard she was a "teacher" when they were back in the village from her parents.

In my opinion yes, Zhuang Yu figures out things very quickly (once he get's a hint). He's already seen her in a classroom talking to her students privately. Plus he knows she has classes.
I don't think he really paid attention to what Mei Ren was doing when she went back to the podium, but I mean that should count too. She had the projector remote in her hands and was putting her materials away.

Yep np. I’m just one of those impatient watchers that must know what happens even if I don’t fully understand it to reassure myself. So I’m like practically watching each episode twice. 😂 And I don’t mind it bc it’s a nice way to practice Chinese and to get more of an understanding. Plus it allows me to use my time somewhere if I need it.
