They had done DYX dirty. No one deserves this kind of treatment and screentimes.
Keep in mind that him not speaking can also be more meaningful and show that their love doesn’t need words. That it’s so powerful and touching that they are able to understand each other and communicate with no words but with actions too.

Xiang Yuan probably has some sort of issue with commitments bc she made a deal with her grandfather about not wanting to get married AND rejecting Xu Yuan Shi when he clearly is straight up telling her he likes her (the signs and everything). I love how XYS is still patient hence the fact it has been many years (since they have not caught up).
