I for one don't have any problems with YY's acting in this. He may not be a great actor, but this character does fit with what he's capable of handling. I can feel his character's struggles and pain with how he turned out as.
Anyway this drama is great so far. It got me out of this cdrama slump I've been having for months.
I know what Wei Shuyu did to Changge in the beginning was horrible, but I really like how he used his learning experience to call out Haodu. In Ep 32, he said to Haodu, "Haodu, we don't live to follow orders, we don't live for contributions/achievements. We live for things that we feel are worthwhile. I used to be like you in the beginning but I ended up losing Changge. [...]" Wei Shuyu doesn't have a lot of great qualities but at the very least he's acknowledged that he fucked up and changed his perspective.
I have a feeling something bad might happen now that the little annoying crown prince made his appearance. Historically, his name was Li Chengqian (fun fact: he was one of the few known homosexuals of Tang, had a male concubine), and he was so incompetent as a crown prince that at one point Li Shimin stripped him off his title. The drama kind of follows history bc historically, he was sent by his father to go see Du Ruhui who was severely ill as a sign of respect for the latter.
Dorama didn't live up to my expectations at all. And this is what we've been waiting for for more than two years?…
It is entirely possible and normal for a person to help their enemy for the sake of the country and it has happened throughout history, even in the extreme cases e.g in the beginning of the Qing dynasty with the Manchus, a minority-led army invading China and massacring so many Hans, yet a couple of Hans were willing to defect and become court officials of the Qing because they thought this new dynasty would last longer than the previous dying dynasty of Ming and the new emperor was competent. Letting go of personal revenge against the emperor for the country when the country is already thriving is a theme that is very common in chinese fiction. See The Deer and the Cauldron. The Long Ballad isn't the first to have done this (and I'd say her revenge case is much less severe than the example I've given) and Changge's character development and realization are things that the general viewers are looking forward to.
Honestly it's weird and random how this drama decided to make Du Ruhui kind of "evil" when he was the opposite of that in history and Li Shimin highly respected him. And it's because of how much he admired Du that he let one of his daughters marry Du's son, which is what I'm guessing the whole Haodu/Leyan romance line is based on.
It's Lusi's fans. The SL ship hasn't pulled up yet. So it's not in the drama yet. There's rumours about Lusi fans…
Reba fans can't even beat Lusi's in terms of traffic? Lusi's own supertopic is not even in the top 100 whereas the second ship is #3, make it make sense.
