Always enjoyed Kim Hyun Joo and this drama is no exception. Go Soo's Kim Young Hoon was also nicely done, and the love story was pretty realistic and engaging.
During the early years, this drama was tops for me; just the whole love story angst was touching and the leads have good chemistry. After some years passed, I re-watched it and found that it still managed to charm but I wouldn't line it up with the great dramas out there nowadays.
This is really a great family (or extended family) drama sprinkled with light intrigues and you would easily care for all the characters. The only problem I have is with PJH's acting in which I felt that she was either giving too much or too little on certain scenes.
I made it through till the end 'coz the storyline was enough for me to give it the time of day. It has lots of glaring problems which I wouldn't care to enumerate except maybe for one, SSH's acting was pretty hard to swallow most of the time, and him being the lead dampens the whole viewing experience.
During my first 2 years of Korean dramas, when Full House was still at the top of the list, this one came along and toppled it over ^-^ It remains one of the best heartwarming rom-com even to these days.
My first exposure to LMK and what a nice introduction! Improved and versatile acting from Chae Rim! Characterization was realistic and consistent. Lovely romance. Don't pass this up <",)
I thought it was pretty good, as it's melodrama and I'm not too fussed with what the others were complaining about; and then I especially loved the OST!
a realistic exploration of a bittersweet first young love, full of misunderstanding and missed timings, then an adult version of forced confessions that was just a little bit too late. i'd say the adult's version wasn't much in the performance department given that it was really more of a first love's development.
watched this during my first year of korean exposure, and then re-watched it after a few years later. it attested to my original impression of the movie giving off the feeling of having experience a great love story and i concluded that the plot wasn't so complicated as i've initially imagined it was ^-^
it was just too slow for me to care about what's happening though the storyline is actually heartwarming. i made several attempts to start watching it and couldn't finish so i put it on hold for awhile. when i finally get to finish it, the feeling was like i have dragged myself for hours on a journey that was just mildly satisfactory.
watched it during the early years of my asian drama/movie exposure when actors and actresses were still unfamiliar, and i truly enjoyed it like a wonderful rom-com. re-watched it some years later and there was still the feel-good vibe but wasn't as impressive as i thought back then.
The mysteries are not so hard to guess and I'm easily one step ahead as the movie progresses, but KYJ seriously topped it with a gripping finale performance.
Detective K is like a bungling nerdy detective and KMM is just hilarious and perfect for the role. HJM shows off a multi-dimensional character with aplomb. This one should be on your list!
This was among the earliest Japanese movies I've watched and though I can't remember much of the technical details to make a proper review, I do remember that overall it left such a good impression that led me to look out for more of the same genre.
