Sorry, what I meant to say is that I wasn't a particular fan of individual actors. But they've been well casts for this drama, so we get such memorable characters :D Personally, I think this drama is fiction come alive when you would usually have life being fictionalized. That is its charm, 'coz it made me believed and cared for the world that it created.

Aye! Aye! :D
Seems to be generating a buzz from all the mixed reactions which I think is really good. Come to think of it, I wasn't a particular fan of the cast but I'm truly glad I've picked on this drama.
Be prepared for unimaginable twists and turns for every episode and you might just stay dumbfounded to realize you can only succeed with your guess at the very last just when the drama ends.

Clara, what can I say when finding like-minds? :D
Well, happy watching ^__^
Wow! Talk about blowing things up! This movie really did an all-out heart-gripping & heart-thumping stunts. If you're up for a quick entertainment then get ready for a bit of action & some light comedy.
Nicely orchestrated. It brings out the dilemma when we are faced with 2 sides of an argument. The idea of keeping the balance of power, of nature, this theme is as old as time itself. This drama builds a wonderful scenario of such a theme. Frankly, it only got spoilt in the maddening last minute(s) of the ending.
This is a drama with some serious undertones yet combined with both zappy and insightful dialogues. It is meaningful in demonstrating personal aspirations, and individual journeys to realization and fulfillment of dreams and goals, as well as the natural development and mending of important relationships.
This is a type of crime drama where plot twists are piled on top of each other to build the mystery and suspense; even the dynamics between the two female protagonists showcasing different strengths in a male-dominated profession sure is a fun watch. The drama provides enough police actions, kick-ass performances, bits of romance, suspense & psychology. However, I feel that the build-up towards the end and finally explaining Jiu were lackluster in comparison, in a way I feel a little cheated for having been caught in the suspense that only left me with faint satisfaction.
I thought the premise was quite promising, but after getting thru the 1st episode, I wasn't charmed and it failed…
I appreciate your passion for recommending this drama. You know there are times when you have a particular reason and expectations for selecting a drama to watch. That's exactly what happened to me when I picked up Ataru. I had certain expectations and it wasn't met watching its 1st episode. I got an inkling of the back story they might try to build regarding his family history from the initial episode. I'm neither demeaning Nakai's acting but I personally did not find it anything noteworthy, it's not like there was any nuanced to him acting a savant character (FYI, this is also my 1st exposure to Nakai's acting). I could probably get back to this drama later on like some of those I've also put on-hold.
This would have been a total gem if they've cut off some of the melodrama, and of course the cause of all the melodramas (i.e. weak & whiny female characters); but its just me really 'coz I like my female protagonist really strong, confident, sexy & smart. But I gotta sweep all my grudges under the table for there are other greatness to be had in this drama. There's consistent characterization, especially love every word that Ma In Tak utters, plus there's such an engaging OST.

Maybe it was the style of directing that scenes feel disconnected. Maybe it was the characterization of a savant brought onto a criminal investigation scenario that failed to convince me. A pretty female trying to prove her niche as an authentic detective was too bland. The writing and the dialogue feels ordinary given such a premise and genre. And maybe at the basic level, it was the acting itself that didn't impress me. I was commenting on my 1st episode watch since I've stop from there. If there was any improvement in later episodes, I can't speak for it as it did not develop any pull for me to keep watching.
it is a little gem of a drama, and if you look away from the props, you will feel its authenticity. some episodes had my heart really jump and thump from the intensity. there's just some drama that i really enjoy even with unfamiliar actors, and this is one i'm glad to have picked up.
This was really heartfelt and moving. A human drama that submits to a creative portrayal of modern, unconventional relationships; subtly convincing and carrying you along with its beautiful emotional beats.
I thought the premise was quite promising, but after getting thru the 1st episode, I wasn't charmed and it failed to convince me. There was just too much lacking and I've been spoiled by recent dramas I've completed that were really of high caliber.
i understand the mixed reactions to this one, but well to each his own of course. i truly enjoyed this as it wrung some serious emotions. except for the terrible acting of foreign casts every character was worn like a fitted glove. the north korean accent requires some getting used to, but this drama definitely delivered some memorable characters :) it brought the pains and conflicts of a divided nation to a highly realistic level, impressions of which were deeply imprinted.

Ciao! Seeing as you've already got a long list of PTW, and still asking, then you might like to check these ones as well :)
Rainbow Eyes (2007)
Cyborg She (2008)
Strawberry Night (2010)
Detective K: Secret Of Virtuous Widow (2011)
Gabi (2012)
This is a messy, crazy, delusional film. It simply tried too hard: stretching symbolism, courting fantasy and even psychological machinations. IMO, waste of good actors as both the director and the writer seems to have just experimented on this film. I still can't shake myself enough for having fallen under its radar.
Most would say, this is better than Season 1, and yes the cases were indeed better in my opinion. As for concluding the overarching storyline, meh :p it was as high up there as the tower of babel for convincing me of its efficacy. But don't mind me too much, this is still a must-watch season :)
