Because I couldn't pass anything in the fantasy genre, I had pick this one only to be thoroughly frustrated and aggravated by the pacing, the quality of the writing, and worst, even sub-par acting of the leads. Jung Il Woo had been better. If you're a fan and still want to take on this drama despite all the negative feedback you're reading, I would suggest to just watch the first 2 episodes and then jump to episode 13 onwards, as there really wouldn't be much to miss.
I think this drama should be watched by every couple. It managed to packaged a number of realistic portrayals of most relationships, especially of married couples, bringing with it wonderful dialogues that are truly enriching.
Don't be fooled by the title, like I've been, who picked this one expecting an epic and sweeping love story. Instead, you get a politically-centric drama that is way too convoluted. The writer wanted to bring you really close to the action during that time period, but to me, its just chock full of boring political dialogues.
I really can't take nor reconcile myself with a lot of the dialogues in this drama. The core story is its saving grace and it could have been a great drama if delivered in a different light instead of forcing a comical and cartoon-ish side show... Acting was great, for sure, what with all veteran and hallyu cast. However, if the writing had stick to simply developing a heartwarming love story, instead of embellishing with all flares and horns, then it could have left me better satisfied. As it was, by the final 2 episodes, I was already trying to fast-forward in order to get to the finish.
More than two quarters of this drama was a letdown which pulled down my ratings by several notches. I just couldn't connect with the characters anymore, and I stopped caring about the story. In a weird way, the last 2-3 minutes actually brought it up half a notch because it managed to nail the theme of this drama.
I've been starting almost every airing drama, yet still feel restless, and wanting more, before I picked up this one. I've just finished it which actually took only a week. You can just imagine the way I've marathon the episodes. I only managed to force myself a break after I've reached the anti-climax which is around episode 115. I've nearly emptied a box of tissue just for this.
So far this is my highest rated long family drama (though it is so much more than a family drama). It's got great attention to details which keeps every scene flowing naturally. The cast is spot-on in their roles except the main antagonist. I wish he was played by a better actor.
This is highly recommended for those already used to long dramas or family drama, as indeed its such a gem. It will also be a good one for those who'd like to start on this type of drama.

That's right, A Man's Story is a good one. Noticed you liked Friend, Our Legend. That one was really intensely awesome and not many people can dig that kind of genre :-) I've just finished a great rom-com You From Another Star. And currently finishing a fluffy good romance Bride of the Century plus a gritty historical drama Empress Ki. My plate's actually quite full

Hiya! Just noticed your friend request. Hope you're enjoying your dramas.
Started out like something poignant, moving, and realistic. It was wrapped in this double sheen that you can't wait to peel off in order to behold the surprise within. Unfortunately, it simply got boring down the line, especially on the last 4eps.

I watched it on the plane during one of my flights. But I think somebody already uploaded a RAW video but still no ENG sub, so you might have to wait a bit more.

Unfortunately, I can't direct you anywhere 'coz I only caught the movie during my inter-continental flight. You might have to wait for some dvd release then someone can upload a copy :) Or rather you might find it on your next flight's entertainment, too.
I actually like this special over it's associated movie. I sort of watched the movie first, which involves the last case of Team Himekawa. And then this special which was the aftermath when the team was disbanded.
Reiko's darkness surfaced here and made great play towards the case of this movie. However, I wasn't so much a fan of the central case. I felt the timeline was wrong and inconsistent.
this movie is characterized by silences and long pauses to drive the mood with some musical scores that i don't really get. but the message it delivers is important and it gets delivered beautifully...
I didn't really think I'd buy this pairing. But, Lee Jong Hyuk was simply great and Choi Soo Young was really commendable. And it's all thanks to the writing that made it believable. It's a breeze to watch and oh! there's great music all-round so don't skip this drama :)
It did take until episode 15 before I really got invested. Then from episode 37, the dialogues just seems to rankle on my nerves, as they verge on somewhat illogical arguments and inconsistencies. After episode 42, I've taken a long pause and still contemplating on proceeding. Because at this point, I feel the drama might be entering into the cliched Romeo+Juliet conflict in the plot.
This drama is so overloaded, just cry-fest all the way. Then there’s choppy writing and editing that simply affects the overall performance so that I can’t even claim to at least enjoy the acting. Definitely skipped lots of scenes with the family members… I just ended up watching this as filler for other dramas. There are only 6 episodes left so I’ll just bear with it.
