It was not time travel. It's actually time + space travel. She entered an alternate universe. In one of the alternate universe, ZY started to like her. Between that alternate universe and her real universe, there is 0 connection. So no matter what she did after going back to her school days, nothing was changing in her real universe.
Each time she entered a different universe. Each alternate universe doesn't have any connection with each other. So that's why each time, the side characters's behavior was different.

Gao ge never liked maizi. It was maizi who liked her but later he moved on since he knew that gao ge had no feelings for him. And gao ge started to like yang chao in the school time and they became couple (in the 1st alternate universe). In the 2nd one, they became friends (but they didn't show us their dating). In the real world, YCY asked GG for going out with him in his 30s.

For me, yes it's perfect. Just beautifully sad, happy, emotional. All in all ending. I literally have watched the last 5 mins of the last ep more than 20 times. Still want to watch that. It was really beautiful!
