May be you misunderstood her character. She is actually a soft person not a cold person but because of society she 'acts' like that (nonchalant).
I don't know if you mind spoiler or not but i give you some spoilers. Her character is not a cold one (She acted like that in front of Woong in ep1 and 2 because she didn't want to show him and also she didn't want to admit it to herself that she still has feelings for him. She pretended, she herself admitted it in ep 9) . She is actually a very sweet person (and that sweet side only the ML knew) who pretend to be cold so she won't get hurt by other people. She is actually a complicated person who trapped into her childhood. She acts like she is strong because she has to be strong for her grandmaa but she is actually broken. She is someone who afraid of loosing everything. She is someone who thinks she doesn't deserve happiness. The more happy she becomes , the more anxious she feels to loose it.
She was poor, she had no parents only had her grandmaa. When she was a kid, other kids ignored her, didn't play with her because she was an orphan. When she was in school, Her friends talked bad behind her back because she can't afford to buy them gifts or foods because she was poor. She had to work hard when her grandma was ill, she had to take care of everything. Because of what she faced since her childhood, she isolated herself from other people and became like that - a pretend person who acts like cold but she is actually not. She actually cares for everyone but don't know how to show it.
*i am curious to know why do you think her character supposed to be cold?! I don't think it's mentioned anywhere tho (?) And for me, her character was never a cold person, she just pretended to be cold but deep down she was hurt.
