The most intriguing villain of this story....

I must say — I do love how they play with colours in some scenes, where part of the picture becomes greyish and only specific characters remain in colour. I think it’s a brilliant way of showing us what’s important in that particular moment. I only wonder why they chose those specific scenes to highlight that way. It’s quite amusing to see how Deng Yi, Xie Yanfang, Xiao Xun, and Chu Zhao can anticipate each other’s moves just by knowing what is supposedly happening with them. To be fair, Xiao Xun seems the least dangerous of the three; his game is already quite transparent. Deng Yi holds that element of unpredictability because of the child he always plays Go with — I still don't know who the boy is, what he signifies, or what his influence over Deng Yi really is. Meanwhile, Xie Yanfang is the hardest to read — he schemes against absolutely everyone, yet he shows certain qualities that make him quite sympathetic. For me, he’s easily the most intriguing of the three villains! I loved how Chu Zhao got some random lady to play her mother! But to be fair, I am completely with Fu Jiu about that woman — she's suspicious. It's not just the stopped carriage, but also that extra line she added for the people questioning them. It will be interesting to see how everything continues now that Chu Zhao and Fu Jiu are away from the capital, far from the little emperor, while Deng Yi and Xie Yanfang play their power games back there and Xiao Xun is out for Chu Zhao's blood.

No cos wtf

I love how we start off with Niran smiling at Pete. also I love how everyone stayed at Pete's house as if to protect him. at first I was generally confused on what the dolls Niran was stitching were for. I don't know why but I felt hurt when Fei was talking to Niran. Niran was saying he was gonna get paid millions to perform a ritual for a couple and then Fei tells him why is he doing this if he never even uses his money. I don't know why but it made me wanna cry. I also got sad when Yok (the young girl) gets told by the adults drinking that she is a kid and would know nothing. and Yok then says she grew up with an alcoholic dad who got violent every time he was drunk. I also jumped up when the demon was in Pete and Pete jumped off the top of the stairs. the fact his 3 friends went to go get him shows real friendship in my opinion. When Niran grabbed the dolls and a piece of Pete's hair from the bed I already knew what was about to happen. I gasped in horror and worry when Pete held onto the sheet and pulled Jack off the motorcycle. Liked that looked so painful. Kudos to Ken for his acting though. when I saw the gold line connecting Pete and Niran I was like "woah that's so beautiful". When Pete suddenly started seeing Niran in everyone's faces I was like "oooh Pete's in love". However Jack did look so cute with that pink bandaid on his nose. then when Pete actually found Niran and asked him if the ritual is gonna make them fall in love with each other. I started laughing. that's when Niran finally says the dolls were for a couple who already are in love and the ritual was supposed to make sure the couple don't separate from each other. then later when they finally took the tape off and agreed to share the room normally. I also love how Jack,Thua, and Tao were shocked to find out they were the sacrifices lmfao. I also love how no one questioned how close Niran and Pete got face to face. like "Oh no this is normal". lmfao. also when I saw them trapped in the smoke, the smoke in general made me sick and have a panic attack. Anyways, the butterfly Niran saw, is perfect. it probably means something bad but it's still beautiful. I also love how Pete made the "wu" shirts and made Niran take photos with him, Niran looked so done but in the last photo he was smiling. SO CUTE

I really don’t want a migraine in the morning because I have a final presentation so I low-key gotta go to bed but trust me if this entire show was all the way out I would’ve finished that shit tonight. Not a lot is happening, but I feel very obsessed with this show and I don’t know why I think it’s because I love their chemistry and they’re acting. It feels very natural in a way and doesn’t feel very force and smell like that. They have an interesting dynamic and then his ex also pulled up at the end and I want more longer with the ex and all that because that could be interesting also, I want to know what happens next and why does In pull away from him like that just like walk but I guess we have to find out fucking tmrw what the fuck? Corruption on full display

This episode really shows the corruption of the Republican era. Watching a competent woman being sidelined is frustrating but that's how it was during that time.

here i was trepidatious going into this ep…

here i was trepidatious going into this ep cause i didn't want to see the "fall out" of Jo Han's situation - ironically he was let go - cause thankfully the bar owner wasn't bought by the shady Shim f*ck. but that f*ck did get the public involved with fake-new spread online & as we know the public doesn't care if it's true or not - they just need someone to take out all that's wrong in their own lives on. poor Jo Han got kicked around, rejected & bullied that he just decided to run away. thankfully his sister & Ryu cared enough to come in-search of him. & Ryu offered that he come live with him in Japan. so something bitter sweet & heartwarming pretty quite. was hoping that finally "they" would let us breath - nope. *********************************************the sec the focus shifted to Sumiko & Seiichi i knew something bad was gonna happen, as their life was going too well - they were happy & the writer of this doesn't like happiness - he gotta show us how brutal life can be, so every character in his drama gotta suffer - ugh. ********************************************************************************************************************side note: i have seen a lot of comments saying that there aint a kiss to make it definitive that they r a couple, personally i think this is progressing realistically. not every couple hops into bed the sec they meet - some need time like getting into a cold bath - some might jump in, other will dip a toe & progress slowly. Ryu & Jo Han might not be intense in their attraction, but it's something more - that's why this is called soul mate - cause they connected on a deeper level & u see how much they care for each other in the little things & that makes this that much more "moving" IMO. i love them living together, but as there 3 more ep's to go i doubt this will last which makes me sad but that is life...

We've come full circle

Wu Yue's scam reading for Ma Yan Mei in the first episode proved to be true, but was the root of all the trouble. On to the next crime. But what's this?! Oh, Ji Wen Xuan! What kind of psychopath are you!

Wu Yue uses her skills to get a confession

We get to see Wu Yue use her medium skills to get a confession. I have to say all of the main actors in this episode did a good job.

Five Stars

Man, the intensity of this drama just keeps ramping up. The music score is impressive and really builds the tension up. So far, lots of plot threads are still just getting started. Hope they start to tone that down and instead start to close some off or the story will get too convoluted. I.E., how many episodes will it take to resolve things like the Zhou Yinzi,is a spy thread? Or Fangyin just invested in silk futures thread? And will Shen Jia and Jian Xuy Hui ever actually meet in this life? And at this point a burning question has to be: Just how many guys did the FL have some sort of intimate relationship with in her first life? Obviously Yan Lin, but also the Emperor in that life (Shen Jia?) and something seems to have been intimate between her and Xie Wei and to a lesser extent Zhang Zhe. That's a lotta guys. What's her plan for THIS life? Finally - wow, Yan Lin really is kind of a big dumb stupid jock stereotype, isn't he? One wonders if his idiocy is ultimately the key catalyst for all the troubles in the first life?

Chu Zhao Steps Into Her Power

Episode ThoughtsThis episode was a definite improvement for me.The pacing felt much stronger than Episode 1, and I found myself far more invested in the political side of the story. The power struggles are becoming more interesting, the stakes are getting higher, and Chu Zhao is finally starting to show exactly why she's such an important player in this world. One of my favourite moments was seeing Chu Zhao ride into the palace alongside the Imperial Grandson. It was such a visually stunning scene and really felt like a statement of intent for her character.Character Notes❤️ Chu ZhaoMy favourite character this episode. We got to see more of her intelligence and strategic thinking, which made her much more compelling to watch. She's beginning to feel less reactive and more in control of her own destiny.👀 Xiao XunWatching his plans unravel was incredibly satisfying. For someone who seemed so confident in Episode 1, things suddenly aren't looking quite so certain for him.Favourite Moment🔥 The Imperial Decree announcing the Imperial Grandson as Emperor and Chu Zhao as Grand Princess. After everything Xiao Xun had been plotting, seeing his plans completely thwarted was so satisfying.Final ThoughtsThe ending has left me with so many questions.Chu Zhao has sworn never to marry or have children, which feels like a pretty bold statement in a romance drama. I'm already curious to see how that's going to play out.I also can't stop wondering about the connection between Xie Yan Lai (Fu Jiu) and Xie Yan Fang. The drama is definitely hinting at something there. And after realising this drama only has 24 episodes instead of 40, I'm expecting things to move pretty quickly from here.Current VerdictEpisode 2 was a big step up for me. Better pacing, stronger political intrigue, and a much more interesting Chu Zhao. Consider me officially invested

marriage pt. 2?

BRO I KNEW Kuea was up to no good. YuNorth absolute wingmen. Tim is giving me secondhand embarrassment with his (justifiable) jealousy. I'm literally gonna throw hands with Kuea. FREAKING knew it!!! not me begging Pai for a second chance on behalf of Tim when he barely deserves it lol. omg using the scam house for your proposal is so based. how can they afford a house tho, aren't all four of them broke? spilling the tea to the parents damn, sir! now that's based. sorry but why are Tim's parents not taking any accountability for leaving him with the loan sharks??? why even put this in here if they are never gonna address it??? you could have just said he was poor which is why he scams, why the unnecessary tragic backstory?? rant over, our babies are back together again!!!
