Entering the Capital City

While He Rufei's side of story was shown in the temple where Xu Jingfu came to meet him, and they planned the Mingshui Battle and He Yan's death. While he tells his father He Yan is alive and will be returning to the Capital soon and he won't let her enter the Capital (kill her before entering the Capital). CZ is has dropped facade with Xu Pingting and doesn't want to even see her (she's an evil character) and just a trouble maker. But she was whining to her father (Chancellor ) about CZ's maid (and Xu Jingfu even warned CZ). I just can't stop laughing at what Xiao Dudu is doing right now 🤣. Literally Feinu would be thinking like "ARE YOU REALLY MAKING ME ASK HER EVERYTHING THAT YOU SHOULD BE ASKING HER??" 🤣 When they were at an inn having lunch they were talking about going home, but since He Yan doesn't have a home anymore, XJ wanted to take her to his home. But guess what he just picked up his sword and unsheathed it (signalling with eyes, Feinu to ask her where she'll stay in the Capital?)🤣. Then when her reaction was that I'll stay in an inn, XJ tapped his fingers kn the table gesturing to Feinu to do something 🤣. He's being so funny🤣. Seeing his Master smile Feinu was happy too🤭. She'll be staying at the Xiao Residence. Ah He Rufei sent quite some men to kill He Yan but the three of them (HY, XJ, Feinu) fought majestically. I love this trio✨. Finally a good fight (although the main theme of this drama was supposed to be fighting wars but they changed it and now there are even less fighting scenes). I feel bad for CZ, he knows that Chancellor wants his daughter to be happy and that particular daughter is head over heels for CZ (she can even kill a person for him), and since XJF warned him about his maid (she wasn't just a maid, in the novel, it was said that he saved her and she was utmost loyal to CZ, and he always treated her right, although she liked her master, but never crossed the line, her end in novel was extremely sad). He has to spend time with the Chancellor's daughter just so he won't upset his Master again. But in CZ's absence she was looking through the painting scrolls and found He Yan's painting. XJ and HY, Finally they're home, He's caring for her🤭. I hope she'll give an additional punch and kick to HRF.

I have my Principles.

It was so short, just 34 minutes😭. Chu Zhao's speculation is that He Yan was the Masked General Feihong. Because he connected all the dots of her behaviour and reactions when she heard about He Rufei, her seven deputy generals and Rundu. He's heading back to the Capital, his moral compass is pointing to the right direction. I'm so tired of He Rufei's tantrums, Mannnn!! He just schemes an evil plan and when it fails he's throwing tantrums and running off to Xu Jingfu to complain. While at this point CZ has already defied hua Master's order twice and since he's aware that his master committed treason he doesn't want to support him even though a master is like a father. He has his principles, and can't go against them. I don't remember if He Rufei was this petulant and whiny in the novel. HRF fucked up big this time, from outsider's pov a fake General Feihong came to Rundu and intimidated the Wutuo Army while the real HRF didn't even send reinforcements to Rundu and the Emperor has heard all about it. CZ did a good job by being upfront and the Emperor seems pleased and even promoted him to a Fourth Rank Vice Minister of War. Really CZ's family is shameless.

Rewards and recognition

Most in comments hate Chu’s character. I agree he is completely delusional where He Yan is concerned, but as a politician for the people, he is better than most of them. He had planned on giving He Yan medicine for her wounds to find her and Ciao Jue together under prayer tree. So he rethinks this and doesn’t. He wisely goes to emperor first. He gets recognition for assisting with supplies to Rundu. He knows there was collusion with Wutuo, but also knows evidence is required, so he pleads that He RuFei ‘may’ have done the best he could with the number against him. As a result of his actions and intel, the emperor promotes him to a level 4 magistrate. Prior to leaving Rundu, he meets with He Yan and Xiao Jue. She even invites him to accompany them to capital and he politely, and wisely, declines. Xiao Jue pointed out where he or his guard specifically hindered their mission with Chai Anxi. He also points out where Chu was helpful and eased the way. Chu continues to be one whose help cost equals hurt cost. He is truly a mixed bag and there will never be love lost between them where He Yan is concerned. Chu will always know that Xiao Jue is always first in her heart. When Chu has such a capable warrior woman that loves him by his side. It is sad she does not inspire him or get his affection. He is truly blind to the treasure he already has. He RuFei is pretty much foaming at the mouth declaring how capable he is, The entire world knows who the fake General is and he cannot grasp his own inadequacies and failures as being his fault. He curses the air she breathes and cannot wait for an opportunity to settle the score. Which is why the irony is not lost when he begs at Xu’s feet like a recalcitrant schoolboy to be helped and forgiven. Here he receives the same shoulder pat he gives to his spoiled, petty daughter. These two children of his deserve each other.😝 Chu wisely did not pay respects to his mentor until after he had received promotion and notice from emperor. Xu didn’t have bracelet in hand today because he knows too many watching. Chu tells him what he told the emperor and when prodded, did not refer to Wutuo collusion, but He RuFei’s miscalculation to try to kill Xiao Jue. This is also true, but not the root of the treason. Xu is pacified and refers him to daughter. This time, Chu is more truthful with her and refuses any outings. He has found his light and she isn’t a glimmer. I like that he makes his atrocious family put his mother’s memorial in ancestral hall and they are highly encouraged to pay her homage regularly.😂😝 He wants to introduce He Yan to her, which I would find honorable if kept in friend or sister zone category. I think even she would agree with these conditions. I like the women of Rundu forming a textile shop to make a living and bring honor to the city. This is a good future for them. I am curious what was in the letter He Yan left to be read after they left? Did she tell Li he had met his real general? Yan He says goodbye to his friends and heads for home to greet his wife and family. I don’t think he knows the emperor is aware of his actions yet, but unlike many, he does what needs done because it’s his job. He didn’t go to gain the emperor’s ear. Everything is set up for visit to capital. He RuFei is plotting for them to never arrive.

well hell, so given how this whole drama has…

well hell, so given how this whole drama has been going until now i didn't expect a happy ending or maybe Nam Gi Jun getting his revenge on all the people that got his brother murdered, is a kind of happy end. one can look at it that way, but to normal people being able to walk away after getting said revenge, would've been the positive finale i think idk - *************************what i can say is that by the end it was beyond ridiculous that a man that got shot & stabbed multiple times, let alone beaten to a pulp could still come out on top... far fetched but i guess for entertainment value u can over look that aspect of things, that contradicts logic/reality. ****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************this for sure was very entertaining, but also very violent & brutal to watch at times. i think the plot was interesting & even though u had the out line of what's what in this drama in the description u still found the twists & turns about who is back stabbing whom & who is behind the whole mess interesting. it was easy to binge watch & all of the character's brought their A game. *************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************btw found it ironic that Lee Geum Son went after Nam Gi Seok not only cause his father wanted him to inherit his "company" but cause Nam Gi Seok had the audacity to turn down what Lee Geum Son thought was rightfully his & wasn't offered cause his father wanted a better "normal" life for him. & also found it ironic how (as was mentioned a few times) Nam Gi Jun was the one that started everything (the formation of the 2 main groups) he was the one to put an end to everything too... this was a fun binge (even if at time had to look away from some fight scenes) & admit i was wrong & Cheon Hae Beom wasn't a bad-guy (well he was a gangster lol) but when he smirked at Koo Jun Mo at Nam Gi Seok's funeral it wasn't cause they were in cahoots. but this was a fun watch! *****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************side note: i felt bad when Sim Seong Won was double-crossed, i wanted him to survive -

Foundation stage cultivation

This is supposed to be the smartest group😝 They are distracted with grandmaster’s weakened state but after she did all that for the herb, why was she not interested in the outcome? It should have been a top priority but she has Han Li and her ego on the brain.😝 She doesn’t give him credit to not want this known as much as her. He has cultivated his garden herbs and everything is ready to make foundation pills. He is happy with the purity and continues making them. He starts off with two. Compared to the quality the other’s have, his pills are probably at least 30% better or more. He is definitely getting the bang for his buck with aged herbs. He continues taking them two at a time. The last two….he needs them to break him through. They seem to be working but he has to distract to keep from overloading. He gets to level 4 in new sword technique. He is successful in gaining foundation stage. So is sr he rescued. There is gentle hazing by most of his seniors. The last is more intense. They discover he has reached level 4 sword technique and has default shield. Han Li is annoyed when he learns there is an energy penalty for the defense. He tells master Mo and Wu goodbye and packs his things to head for new master. The garden now grows nothing for his further cultivation. He looks around appreciative of the serenity and beauty this garden provided him. His new master tells him he needs to find his own place to live and refers him to location to get a spirit beast. He finds an adorable level w treasure mouse, pays the man a sack of gems and is on his way.

Playing the players

Sima Jiao is many steps ahead of Shi leader that believes he is in charge of events. It is interesting to watch them maneuver and rearrange the players. Ruling is trying to be a good friend but her younger sister isn’t on board. Their family was divided when Sima clan set up immortal/demon boundary. Ruling wants another option than killing, but so far nothing has presented and the demon realm getting restless. When Tingyan meets her handler she treats him like an ex boyfriend. 😂 Sima Jiao is content with her responses and even smiles. Ms modern girl turned rogue demon assassin isn’t accepting the role she was forced to play. She has brought amusement to him that is real and not sarcasm. She lightens his mood and quells his bloodlust.I enjoyed the ‘filming’ of the events with the son’s killing. The dad saw exactly what happened and knows the Shi’s treachery and who really saved his son. He is now asked to hide his son indefinitely to continue on with Shi’s machinations and earn his trust. Everybody now wants Tingyan the influencer killed. She is sent an invitation to a festival and when Sima Jiao says not interested, requests to still go. He has no issue with her attendance. As she smiles at the thought of a party, he says the festival is for her and they want to kill her. End of episode😝Grandmaster having too much fun with this.

Testing the leaders

Sima Jiao is testing the regrouped leaders to see what his next move is. So far, he is most interested in Ruling who has not taken a side. She still wants to kill him even after getting the leader position of her sect. He rewards Tingyan’s master with 4 veins, but warns it will overload them once they reach a certain level. He is seeing what the others will do with this knowledge. Shi is angered that the one he had planned to plea for was killed before he could strike a bargain. He is still playing the long game but is seeing who will follow his lead and who won’t. Sima Jiao has placed an illusion spell so that the ones cultivated at higher levels will appear mad. I am not sure if this is a tale he told Tingyan or the truth. I am glad he repaid the nails.I am just sorry it killed him before the no self harm could take effect. These vampires deserve whatever happens to them. They have not been shaken by their evil intentions at all, and still have the temerity to blame Sima Jiao for all their ills and problems they face. 😝 Tingyan’s handler was not pleased she didn’t show up and activated the poison in her. She tries to get help and ends up in Sima Jiao’s healing pool. He rescues her and is puzzled that his blood isn’t curing her. He has added a petal and significantly upped her cultivation. What is funny when he truth tests her, she has all the pat no’s but adds not wanting to leave him.🥰 This makes him smile. His snake also revealed that he doesn’t like dealing with dead ones any more than Tingyan does. Tingyan had fun astral projecting and flying around exploring. Sima Jiao warns her that outside the palace others will sense her and it will be unsafe for her. I don’t know how they come up with this silliness, but the face masks and fruit teasing was adorable.🥰😂 It was playful with no meanness. I think Sima Jiao is benefiting from being allowed to be childlike and silly. He is well aware of what Tingyan is,(even tho she isn’t), but sees her having more upright character than the others. This drama is fun and the actors are doing a great job. Production team has the fantastical believable and the music is quite nice too. I am enjoying this drama and glad the comedy balances the dark of the 8 sects’ plotting. It is juxtaposed nicely. Kudos to all that worked on this project.👏🏻
