Ossan's Love (Thai): A Surprisingly Sassy Start

GMMTV’s adaptation of Ossan’s Love kicks off with an impressive start, exceeding my expectations in more ways than one. Known for their dramatic chops, Earth Pirapat and Mix Sahaphap step out of their comfort zones and dive headfirst into the campy charm of this beloved story – and they're nailing it. Seeing these two dynamic actors explore such a playful genre is a real treat, and their performances bring a fresh energy to the material. If you’re a fan of the original Japanese series and approach this Thai remake with an open mind, you’re in for a delightful experience. The adaptation captures all the key beats that made Ossan’s Love such a gem, but it doesn't just mimic – it innovates. The changes made feel intentional and add a layer of local flair that fits seamlessly within the story. I’m especially glad they’ve avoided a strict, scene-by-scene remake, as that would have dulled the spark. Instead, GMMTV strikes a balance between honoring the original and making it their own.Earth and Mix, alongside a talented supporting cast, are doing the source material proud. Their chemistry, comedic timing, and ability to embrace the series’ over-the-top moments without losing authenticity have genuinely impressed me. It’s early days, but I’d say we’re off to a fantastic start with this adaptation. If this momentum continues, GMMTV’s Ossan’s Love is set to carve out a special place in the hearts of both new and old fans alike.

This is too much for my heart!

The constant stares, the pat on the shoulder, the hand on the waist, the nose touch—JUST KISS ALREADY!!! 😭😍The coffee shop scene was EVERYTHING. Yotha was so worried about what Gun thought of him, and you could see it all overhis face. I said this last week too, but Gun seems naïve, yet he’s so sharp. He straight-up asked, “Why did you let Faifa tell me?” He totally got that the only way to understand Yotha was if Yotha let him in. And Yotha, in his own way, wanted to know if Gun could actually accept him for who he is. The shock and relief on Yotha’s face when Gun accepted him—it wasEVERYTHING. He even took a deep breath, like all the tension just left him in that moment.Gun was so patient in this scene, so careful with how he asked questions—he wasn’t judging; he genuinely wanted to understand. Later, when Gun said he wanted to see “the other side” of Yotha, you could tell how much it meant to Yotha. He was trying to process all those emotions, realizing someone was willing to accept him, flaws and all. And let’s just say Perth NAILED IT. His microexpressions, the deep breaths—it was perfection. And when Yotha stayed with Gun the entire night because Gun wanted to feel safe, THEN topped it off with the head rub and said, “If I disappoint you, I’m sorry, Beagle,” I LOST IT.And THEN Yotha brought Gun to the bar because Gun wanted to know him better! Slowly but surely, Gun is making an effort to understand Yotha, and Yotha is letting him in, showing him his world. Taking him to the bar, showing him where he goes when he’s out, asking, “Do you want to know anything else?” Yotha is so soft for him, and I LOVE IT.Can we talk about how last week’s episode established Yotha’s feelings so perfectly? Like, we KNOW he’s trying to impress Gun and show he cares. Giving him his jacket at the coffee shop, staying by his side when he was sleeping outside, taking him to breakfast—Yotha’s love language is PEAK caring and protective gestures. And let’s not forget all the little things: the hand on the waist (!!!), holding his hand, making sure Gun feels safe. THE HAND ON THE WAIST!!! 😭😭Yotha keeping Gun company in unfamiliar surroundings and even asking, “Am I a good boy?” just to stay in Gun’s good books—stop, I’m screaming. Also, the writing in this show is SO GOOD. That scene outside the bar when Gun asked, “Are you sure I can go in?” and Yotha replied, “You can if you want to,” was just... chef’s kiss. And the DOG HEADBAND SCENE. Yotha smiling while Gun wore it, then telling him later that he looked cute and he liked it? DEAD. Also, Gun knowing Yotha so well already—like when Yotha pulled that stunt on stage, and Gun was just like, “Yotha is so Yotha,” then figuring out Gun was probably hiding in the bathroom waiting for everyone to leave? PERFECT. Oh, and when Gun called him out for lacking interpersonal skills? 😂 He’s not wrong, but the way Yotha just accepts it is hilarious. The necktie thing is also adorable. Yotha has gotten SO used to Gun tying his tie that he’s now sad they’ll have to wear jackets instead. He’s literally like, “I don’t like wearing that jacket,” because he knows he won’t get to share those moments with Gun anymore. The man is down BAD.And don’t even get me started on the breakfast scene when Yotha ordered the same thing as Gun and straight-up agreed when Gun joked, “Am I special?” The flirting in this episode was next-level. Like in the washroom scene, when Gun said, “That means you don’t like me,” and Yotha replied, “You’re the exception.” Sir, YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT. And Gun, asalways, brushes it off!AND THE PAJAMAS. The cutest set ever. Gun asking, “Can I keep this? I’ll wear it when you’re in a bad mood because it makes you smile so much, and I like it,” absolutely broke me. 😭😭 Later, Gun telling Yotha, “I want to find a way to make you smile more without the pajamas,” was just... TOO MUCH for my heart. One last thing—the scene with Arc and Yotha at the beginning. When Arc said Yotha should think about whether he’s troubling those around him, Yotha immediately thought of Gun. Then later in the room, when Gun said he wants to make the people around him happy, Yotha’s first thought was to ask, “Am I one of those people?” I CAN’T. These two are too much for my heart!!!

Amazing Thai Adaptation

If you loved the original series and you walk into the GMMTV Thai Remake with open arms you will enjoy it. I feel as if all of yhe necessary beats that make the series Ossan's Love is there. The changes made for this adaptation feel purposeful. I feel like we are off to a great start and i am glad they arent doing a complete play by play because that would be boring. Earth and Mix both are doing justice to the original along with the rest of the cast i am genuinely impressed.

I'm down bad for #PerthSanta ✨✨

I can’t get over this episode—it’s so good!!! Perth and Santa absolutely killed it. There’s just so much trauma and depth to these characters; it’s insane! It’s so sad how you can tell Yotha hasn’t had anyone in his life to care for him. Like, how starved of love and affection do you have to be for something as simple as milk and a tie to make you think, “This is my person”? The way he was hugging Gun—man, it was like he was realizing forthe first time, “So this is what love and care feel like? This is what it’s like to have someone take care of me?” He was holding on for dear life. And when he said, “Sorry in advance if I make you feel sore, but I won’t let you go anywhere,” ugh, it hit so hard. Yotha wasn’t just hugging Gun; hewas clinging to his safe zone. Gun, though, is such an interesting character. He might seem naïve, but he’s so aware of everything going on. He’s curious but knows his boundaries. Like in the bathroom scene, when Yotha said he doesn’t like talking to people, Gun made sure to ask if he was included in that. And later, when Yotha came back with bruises and brushed it off, Gun didn’t push him. He was just like, “Don’t tell me, but let me treat your wounds.” He’s also totally aware of Yotha’s stares and flirting, but he gets flustered and just brushes it off. So cute! The tie scenes, though! Especially the third one, when Yotha literally waited for Gun to wake up just so he could tie it for him—ugh, my heart. Each scene had its own vibe, but they all showed Yotha’s growing fondness for Gun. And the way he kept smiling throughout this episode, plus allthe lingering eye contact? Just perfect. Oh, and Gun going from “Don’t call me puppy” to straight-up flexing it in front of his friends because Yotha called him a beagle? Adorable. That questionnaire scene, though—Yotha handing it to Gun felt like such a deliberate way of pulling him into his world. You could see Yotha’s shyness in his hand gestures, but it also showed how much he cares and wants to understand Gun better.
