A bit messy, but still worth it.

This is honestly one of those shows where you come in expecting goofy, low-budget chaos… and end up weirdly invested, laughing way too hard, and fully obsessed with the characters. Yes, the production quality swings from “hey this looks great” to “did they build this set out of cardboard?” - but somehow none of that matters, because the cast absolutely carries, especially the female lead.

Let’s talk about Sandrine Pinna as Wang Wu - she is the real MVP of this drama. Her performance is ridiculously charismatic: chaotic, sly, unhinged in the funniest ways, yet unexpectedly heartfelt whenever the story needs emotional weight. She switches from comedic timing to sharp intensity in under a second, and her chemistry with everyone - especially Wang Lu - lights up the screen. Even people who aren’t fans of the actress admit she basically became Wang Wu: eccentric, mischievous, powerful, and endlessly entertaining. Without her, this show would lose half its charm.

That said, the dynamic between Wang Wu and Wang Lu is one of the most compelling parts of the story. Xu Kai is great as the talented, unpredictable, slightly bratty genius teenager, but it’s Wang Wu who anchors their energy. Their scenes together feel electric - bickering, scheming, trolling each other, then turning around and delivering genuine emotional beats when you least expect it.

The comedy also lands surprisingly well. Whether it’s spiritual cultivation turning into hopscotch, ridiculously absurd trials, or Wang Wu inventing the wildest methods to “train” her disciple, the show gives you non-stop meme material. It’s self-aware, shamelessly silly, and never afraid to poke fun at itself.

Story-wise, it gets increasingly wild (and sometimes messy), but it stays entertaining. There are moments of genuine worldbuilding, some unexpectedly touching arcs, and plenty of battles and mysteries to keep things moving. The relationships between characters - from Wang Lu and Hai Yunfan’s chaotic bromance to Wang Wu’s secret emotional wounds - make everything more grounded than you’d expect from a comedy.

Is the plot perfect? Absolutely not. Does the budget show? Oh yes.
But do the performances, especially from Sandrine Pinna as Wang Wu, elevate the entire drama into something funny, surprising, and weirdly addictive? Definitely.

If you want something light, chaotic, character-driven, and carried by a female lead who absolutely eats every scene she’s in, Lingjian Mountain is 100% worth the ride.

Wonderful!!!

I was not expecting too much from this drama but because I love the main male actor, I decided to give it a try. It has been weeks since a drama/comedy has interested me. So, I started with episode one and was intrigued enought to continue. I just finished the last episode.
I loved it!!!! The story line, the scenery, the music and the actors are all terrific.

Prisoner of beauty is 5 stars.

From Awkward Beginnings to Heart-Melting Love

Ban Shu Lao Gong is such a gem — a mature, beautifully written drama with believable, heartfelt performances. The male lead is incredibly loving, and the female lead is truly sweet and endearing. Their best friend is a delight as well!

This story focuses on a married couple rediscovering intimacy, communication, and love. Their honesty with each other is refreshing, and watching them grow together is genuinely captivating. It’s the perfect show for a cozy romantic drama night — no slapping, no toxic exes, no kidnappings, and no unnecessary angst. Just healthy relationships, supportive parents, and cool friends.

Wang Kaimu absolutely shines in this role. His character carries emotional scars from his past, especially related to his mother, which make him fear love. The female lead becomes the light in his life, turning his quiet, dull world into an emotional roller coaster. They complete each other beautifully.

The drama is slightly bolder than typical C-dramas, but the intimate scenes are tastefully executed — nothing cringey, just genuine chemistry. The story remains focused on the couple without dragging in irrelevant subplots like cheating or abuse. It’s wonderfully written and directed, and I’m glad Wang Kaimu chose this script. I’d honestly enjoy watching multiple remakes of this story with equally good casting.

The only downside: the casting of the female lead’s parents. They looked too young for their roles, which slightly disrupted the realism for me. Because of this minor flaw, I’m giving it a 9.5/10 instead of a perfect score.

Overall, Ban Shu Lao Gong is an excellent, mature, and emotionally rich drama — absolutely worth watching! ❤️✨

The Drama That Got Away

It was torture for me to continue this drama. Let me get into it..

The story was definitely promising and had lots of potential. However, I can't help but cringe over the casting. Don't get me wrong, Victoria and Ding Yu Xi did great in terms of acting their respective characters, but I have to blame the writers.

Following the death of their family members, I expect Chu Yu and Wei Yun to be hell-bent on investigating and avenging their family members' deaths, especially Wei Yun. After watching the first episode, I expect both characters to be tough, goal oriented, and determined but on the contrary, although Chu Yu was determined, I really cringed at her flirty personality. Not to mention, Wei Yun's naivety, innocence, and acting like a lovesick teenager towards Chu Yu just gives me major cringe.

As someone who usually don't mind age gaps in terms of casting, the age gap in this drama is also a major reason for my inability to continue this drama. I don't get what the production was thinking. In the drama, Chu Yu is 3 years older than Wei Yun, however they actually look like aunt and nephew. With Chu Yu's look and her personality, she seems way more mature and experienced than Wei Yun, who really looks like a teenager. The casting of other characters was also not helping.

Wei Yun's oldest brother and Chu Yu's ex, definitely have looks that matched Chu Yu. On the other hand, Wei Yun's look just seems out of place for a love triangle kind of plot. If only Chu Yu's makeup could be softer or Wei Yun's makeup and personality could be made more mature, maybe it could be salvaged.

CH3 we are tired.

I have to say this before I write my non-spoiler review.
I’m a multistan and I don’t have bias when I watch GLs, anyone can surprise me (either positively or negatively) and my ranking is always adjusting every time we have new GLs.
Episode one was an okay start but the everything went downhill really fast.
The plot is completely absent, boring scenes over and over, poor writing, no budget for locations or details and the characters don’t really have any development. Not to mention that the side characters feel empty and coming out of nowhere. (Only interesting one is Pie but they decided to have her for only few scenes).
This is the same writing level of Only You, so it’s clearly a pattern that CH3 has, an extremely lazy and poor one.
The only good thing about this show is LenaMiu, they have very good chemistry and seems very comfortable with each other on screen, they are also good actresses but their potential is completely wasted for a show like this.
In conclusion, this show is a skip, and CH3 is a filthy money grab company who only cares about profit.
Like no effort whatsoever.

An Almost Perfect KDrama

It's not everyone's cup of tea but for those who want a tearjerk but warm and sweet romance . Almost Everything regarding this drama was perfect the visuals that gives off that warm nostalgic vibes , the ost that gives your heart the feeling of love & sadness, the characters & their cast but the ending seems to be quiet lacking . It was a really good watch . I'm pretty sure im going to give it another watch. This drama is something that has that feel to it that you just can't ignore !!!
Personally the only bad thing about this drama is the ending . I wanted the ending to be a bit more expressive and comprehensive with the reunion , the family , the friends and everyone but a beautiful drama nonetheless.

The FIRST Live action Omegaverse Mpreg BL in History - HuaSheng Edition

Hi, Hi ~~!

A kind Heads-up - This is a BIASED Review !!!

For me, ABO Desire is truly a MASTERPIECE.

A Mini Brief Summary: ABO Desire is a Chinese BL series released this year on 12th July 2025. It consists of 16 Episodes. It stars the Main Leads, Huang Xing (Eliot) and Qiu Dingjie(Kipuka) and the secondary leads, Jiang Heng (Ocean) and Li Pei En (Seeky).

I will reiterate that ABO Desire is hands down a MASTERPIECE.

Why ? Because it stars the mind-blowingly talented, hardworking and versatile Eliot and Kipuka as the Enigma, Hua Yong and the S-Class Alpha, Sheng Shaoyou.

STORY: PERFECT!

To be honest, the story is NOT perfect. It lacks quite a number of elements, but it has great concepts - Enigma x S-Class Alpha and Male Omega x Female Alpha. The point is, XingQiu absolutely aced HuaSheng's storyline! So, for me, XingQiu made the lackluster story a PERFECT 10/10.

ACTING / CAST: PERFECT!

NJ and the Casting Team made the best-est decision of their lives by casting Huang Xing and Qiu Dingjie as Hua Yong and Sheng Shaoyou. There is NO ONE in the entire universe / galactic orbit who could ever portray HuaSheng better than XingQiu.

I also LOVE the casting for Secretary Chen Pin Ming and Secretary Chang Yu - Xuan Hao and Feng Jian Yu did such a great job!

Jacky Heung was a great cameo as Long Zuo, the Milk Candy Male Omega.

Ocean and Seeky did a good job too as Shen Wenlang and Gao Tu, especially Ocean - kudos to him for his first acting job - he did great as a first-time actor.

MUSIC: PERFECT!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the OSTs sung by Huang Xing and Qiu Dingjie the most !!!

1. Master of Desire - Eliot Huang
2. Puppeteer - Eliot Huang
3. You're The True - Kipuka Qiu
4. Tame Me - Eliot Huang
5. Master of Desire - Desire4
6. Catch You - Ocean Jiang

REWATCH VALUE: 10/10!

I have been rewatching all the Episodes every week while it was still airing. I still have not been able to move on from ABO Desire. I dare say I have rewatched for an umpteenth number of times and will continue rewatching my precious HuaSheng create magic on screen and blow my mind!

OVERALL: 10/10!

I watch ABO Desire for HuaSheng and I absolutely LOVE this series.

Relatively fresh story (kdrama wise) with unrealistically realistic romance and a bit of humour

Note: (optional)
1. I don't look for logic and realism in kdramas (like ever)
2. My taste for humour is not gonna resonate with many people (i am also of engineering background)
3. I watch shows i enjoy and I don't overthink stuff... if I don't like it , i simply stop watching it (instead of hate watching till the end and writing shitty reviews about it)
4. I think reviews should intrigue people to either start a drama or skip it WITHOUT going over every minute bit of things you loved/hate
5. This is my first review I have written ( after seeing other reviews I was quite disappointed, I had to write one for those who are of similar taste as me)...

This show was a breath of fresh air compared to other kdramas i watched in 2025. I really enjoyed the subtle humour in dialogues. I really liked the romantic scenes however little they were. I did fast forward over some things i didnt like, but this show was one where it was minimal for me.

Definitely worth a watch. Perfect if you’re craving a quick bromance drama.

This drama was short but very enjoyable for me. The main leads are incredibly handsome and delivered strong performances. The show was visually stunning- from the cinematography to the outfits and styling. I especially loved the winter scenes. I watched it primarily for the bromance, and it didn’t disappoint. The chemistry between the leads was absolutely electric. I won’t say much about the storyline, as reviewing isn’t my strong suit. I just wanted to share my feelings after finishing it. Huge thanks to everyone involved in bringing this project to life. It’s a 10 for me because if I start a drama, enjoy it, and manage to finish it without any major complaints, then it deserves a perfect score.

Title: A Dash of Sweetness (2025) is a nice romance miniseries with Gan Wang Xing (as Han Zhan) and Yu Yin as (Shi Yin) in the leading couple’s role. This is another adaptation from the web novel "San Fen Guai", also known as "Shi Xiao Jie Jin Tian Ye Bu Guai" (时小姐今天也不乖), by Han Da Bai (韩大白 and it has a few things that were not in “Bie Chai Chuan Wo De Guai (2025)”. The genre is categorized as romance but there are more plots than storyline is definitely more revenge than romance. The romance on this drama is slow burn with a lot of teasing and cute interactions between the leading couple, one well done intimate scenes and also some not very satisfying romantic scenes. Overall, the miniseries is a nice revenge drama, enjoy it!

In the meantime, this drama can be found in YouTube under the caption: “💘FULL💘 Delicate heiress💎 meets icy CEO❄️ Deadly chase→sweet romance | My Tycoon, My Puppy” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZ_8WhaicQo)

Reviews

Part 1: The Plot That Never Was
This drama is, without a doubt, the single most exhausting television experience of my entire life.

The story begins with a man sitting on a chair, and honestly, that is where the excitement peaks.

For the first ten minutes, the camera focuses entirely on a clock ticking on the wall.

I kept waiting for the plot to kick in, but the plot decided to take a vacation.

The protagonist, whose name I forgot because he barely speaks, stares out the window.

He stares out the window for five minutes.

Then, he sighs.

Then, he stares out the window again.

I checked the time on my phone and realized only three minutes had passed in the real world.

It felt like three decades had passed in the drama world.

The inciting incident, if you can call it that, is when his tea goes cold.

He touches the teacup, realizes it is cold, and looks sad.

This sequence takes approximately six minutes of screen time.

There is no dialogue during this scene, just the sound of ambient air conditioning.

I have seen paint dry with more narrative arc than this episode.

In episode two, a second character enters the room.

They look at each other.

They do not speak.

They sit down on opposite sides of the table.

The camera pans slowly from left to right.

The camera pans slowly from right to left.

I started counting the dust motes visible in the lighting just to feel something.

Eventually, one of them asks, "Is it raining?"

The other one takes ten seconds to respond.

"No," he says.

That was the climax of episode two.

I honestly don't know how the writers managed to stretch this into sixteen episodes.

By episode three, I was convinced the video player was broken and stuck on pause.

But no, the character blinked, so it was still playing.

The pacing is not just slow; it is actively moving backward.

Part 2: The Visuals of Nothingness
Visually, the drama is a palette of beige, gray, and slightly darker gray.

The lighting is dim, presumably to hide the fact that nothing is happening.

Every shot lasts about thirty seconds longer than it needs to.

There are long, lingering shots of empty hallways.

There are long, lingering shots of shoes left by the door.

There are long, lingering shots of a ceiling fan spinning slowly.

I believe the cinematographer fell asleep while holding the camera.

The editing is nonexistent.

Scenes do not transition; they just sort of cease to exist.

Watching this show is like being trapped in a doctor’s waiting room with no phone and no magazines.

Even the subtitles seemed bored, appearing on screen a second late.

The costumes are as bland as the script.

Everyone wears oversized sweaters that blend into the walls.

It is impossible to tell the characters apart because they have no personalities.

I tried to adjust the contrast on my TV, but the show is just naturally foggy.

It looks like it was filmed through a dirty window.

There is a recurring shot of a dripping tap that appears in every episode.

The drip of the tap is the most rhythmic thing in the entire series.

I found myself rooting for the water droplet to fall.

When it finally fell, I cheered, which is sad.

Part 3: The Acting (Or Lack Thereof)
The actors are clearly doing their best to look comatose.

The lead actor has two expressions: blank stare and sleepy stare.

The lead actress has one expression: mild confusion.

Their chemistry is nonexistent; they look like strangers on a bus avoiding eye contact.

When they are supposed to be in love, they look like they are in line at the DMV.

When they are supposed to be angry, they just breathe slightly louder.

The dialogue is delivered with such a lack of energy that I had to turn the volume up to max.

Even at max volume, it sounds like they are whispering secrets I don't care about.

There is a side character whose only trait is that he wears glasses.

He takes his glasses off.

He cleans his glasses.

He puts his glasses back on.

This action sequence repeats four times in episode five.

I think the director told them, "Act like you are underwater."

Nobody walks with purpose; they shuffle.

Nobody speaks with conviction; they mumble.

I have seen more emotion in a bowl of oatmeal.

At one point, a character cries, but it looks like he is just allergic to the dust on set.

The crying scene lasted four minutes.

I felt like crying too, mostly because I was still watching.

Part 4: Why Is This 16 Episodes?
The plot could have been summarized in a tweet.

Actually, the plot could have been summarized in a confused emoji.

Nothing happens in episode six.

Nothing happens in episode seven.

In episode eight, they go to a cafe.

They order coffee.

The coffee arrives.

They drink the coffee.

They leave the cafe.

That was the entire episode.

I am not exaggerating; that was literally the whole forty minutes.

The writers seem to think that "realism" means "removing all entertainment value."

Real life is more exciting than this drama because in real life, I can turn off the TV.

By episode ten, I began to hallucinate plot points that weren't there.

I imagined a dragon appearing, just to spice things up.

No dragon appeared, unfortunately.

Just more shots of the gray sky.

Just more shots of people walking slowly down a street.

The background music consists of three piano notes played over and over.

Ping... ping... ping...

It haunts my dreams.

It is the soundtrack of purgatory.

I tried to skip forward, but every scene looked exactly the same.

I couldn't tell if I had skipped five minutes or five episodes.

It is a time loop of boredom.

I started cleaning my room while watching, and cleaning was more fun.

I read the ingredients on a cereal box, and it was more gripping.

I counted the tiles on my floor.

I formulated a theory that the characters are actually ghosts who don't know they are bored.

But even ghosts would have more spirit than this cast.

Part 5: The Conclusion (Finally)
I cannot believe I made it to the finale.

I expected a twist.

I expected a resolution.

I expected something.

Instead, the final scene was the main character looking out the window again.

The cycle is complete.

He sighs one last time.

The screen fades to black very slowly.

The credits roll even slower.

This drama stole 16 hours of my life that I will never get back.

It is a masterpiece of sedation.

If you have insomnia, this drama is the cure.

If you want to be entertained, run away.

It is hollow.

It is tedious.

It is the definition of a snooze-fest.

I would rather watch grass grow.

I would rather watch a loading screen.

I would rather watch a PowerPoint presentation on tax law.

Do not watch this drama

Extraordinary Drama

This amazing Chinese drama---one of the best of 2025---stars Hu Jun in the role of a platoon leader in the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army during the 14-year Second Sino-Japanese War.

After his team is scattered, Hu Jun, as Lu Chang Shan, searches for each of them–-bringing them back together, one by one to continue their mission to defeat the Japanese and reclaim their land.

I’m usually not a fan of war movies, but this drama is exceptional. It’s never boring, and never repetitive---showing how individual human beings dealt with the challenges of food shortages, prison camps, cruelty, deprivation, and loss.

While there’s plenty of suffering, this drama is not a downer. It’s human, entertaining, and sprinkled throughout with good-natured banter. In fact, it’s mostly uplifting, depicting the best of human nature, as well as the worst. The camera work, the OST, and especially the acting is immensely moving and poignant.

Americans, as a whole, unfortunately, have almost no knowledge of the degree to which China suffered, but ultimately prevailed, in World War II. Even this drama barely scratches the surface. (For a more granular and depressing account of the unmitigated horrors of this conflict read The Rape Of Nanking: The Forgotten Holocaust Of World War II by Iris Chang.)

I can’t say enough good things about Hu Jun, who plays the heroic, but extremely kind and compassionate, Lu Chang Shan, a man who nurtures each member of his team as needed, and is also wiley and shrewd when necessary. Other actors who deserve respect for their portrayals are too numerous to mention–really, almost all of them.

I don’t often give praise like this. But this series is a triumph of Chinese cinema. Don’t miss it.

Cute, but Slightly Adrift

This show’s strength is in its actors. Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung carried the show both individually and as a pair. Without their acting chemistry, this wouldn’t have been as popular as it was. Their love story is in parts wholesome, hilarious, and tragic and perfectly conveyed by the leads.

This show’s weakness is its story. It started off very promising; it wasn’t anything new, but it began with a pretty good momentum that had me hooked. After about halfway through it floundered and the pacing was all over the place. It also couldn’t see to choose a tone, sometimes being super serious and tense and other times super silly.

The villain/murder plot had a lot of potential to be great but the writers revealed everything too early. Instead of building up suspicion and characterization of the family, it was revealed early on who the real antagonist was. Furthermore, the answer was pretty obvious and by the time the “truth” was revealed to the characters, viewers had guessed major plot points long ago. With a 16 episode run, they could have spent that time padding out plot lines strategically but failed to do so.

Another waste was the second leads. Gu-won and Ga Young had zero chemistry, and her character seemed wholly unnecessary. Seok Hoon’s second lead syndrome was also half-written and didn’t need to be a plot point either. I actually thought Seok Hoon was going to be revealed as the main antagonist because Seok Min was way too obvious.

Overall, it was an enjoyable show but many parts lacked in development. The best part of the story was the main love plot and their past connection, but had the potential to be a lot better. Probably wouldn’t watch again, but it’s definitely far from the worst I’ve seen.
