My. Favourite. Drama.

I have been watching k/c/jdramas for 14ish years now, but I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan. I have issues finishing shows, so the number of dramas I have finished are small considering how long I've been watching.

But I adore Love 020. I have rewatched this start to finish, and have rewatched my fav episodes as a mood booster in the past.

What I loved:
1. Capable Female Lead: not only is she book smart, she has a high EQ so I never feared for second hand embarrassment. Cute and dumb characters are fine but I hate watching avoidable, stupid scenes. You may be asking yourself, but if the FL is so perfect how can there be any drama? You would be partially right.
2. No Melodrama: Because the FL is capable, the show keeping crazys to a minimum, and no ridiculous miscommunications, there was no melodrama. NO hateful in-laws, jealous evil suitors, disapproving friends. There is drama - lots of problems and goals pop up that the main leads work together or alone to solve. These scenes give the relationship and the characters ways to mature that all seems natural and realistic. But overall this is a lighter, fluffier show.
3. The FL has a girl squad: How many shows have a female lead with MULTIPLE friends. All distinct and likeable so they don't just fade into the background. I have always found FL's with real friends (not lackeys) soo likeable. The ML has his own guy squad too but thats more normal in dramas. The ML friends are all secondary leads so they're in every episode and really cute and supportive.
4. Smoking hot ML: Yang Yang is perfect. nuff said
5. Gaming life: I don't play video games, but this read like a fantasy to me - ie interesting world building with in game social life and etiquette. I love fantasy books, but prefer modern dramas to period ones, so this was really cool for me.

Dislikes..? Nothing much, though I will say the latter half has less tension but is still a great watch. Also the secondary couple scenes can get a bit draggy. The show gave the novel a lot of padding (like the secondary couple) to lengthen it to drama length, but I find I like the drama more than the book and most of the scenes added make sense.

If you're an anxious watcher like me, this show will be like a cooling balm for your nerves :D

A Wholesome Drama I Often Rewatch

There are many things I absolutely love about this drama.
The first would be the mature relationship between the Xiao Nai and Bei Wei Wei. It is a relationship filled with trust, communication and just pure adoration for one another, which is a combo I feel is often lacking in many dramas. Furthermore, it felt real and natural, which just made it more effective and enjoyable overall.

The second thing I absolutely love about this drama is the friendships. Literally all the friendships depicted with the main cast is really wholesome. It is supportive, fun, lighthearted and just a depiction of genuine friends.

The third thing I love about this drama is the way it depicts emotions such as sadness, pain and anger. There was a really natural and realistic depiction of it throughout the drama in various contexts (at least within the main cast). Considering many drama have this tendency to make such scenes over dramatic or lacking a realistic feel, I really appreciated it.

The final point, which has less to do with what was in the drama, than what was not in it. There was no over jealous reactions from the main leads, no parents who didn't agree with the couple being together or were constantly intervening, no suspected cheating drama, no "breakup and makeup" between the couple. These are some things that gets on my nerves fairly quickly when watching dramas, and it is something you find a lot in Chinese romance dramas.
Which is one of the reasons why I love this drama and keep coming back to it time and time again. Its such qualities which make it unique.

Now I have seen some poor reviews (someone else has given this a three out of ten), so I don't know if this is something everyone will love. But personally it was exactly what I needed from a romance drama.

This is the first Chinese series I ever watched and feel great I make the right choice, I play game myself so I felt connect somehow but I don't have much online friend like them, the feeling when you tide with someone in game but they disappear hit me at heart lol, in short the story telling is lovely I remember the time when I study in the university so watching this drama it like a turn back time because the Dorm set is just like my dorm lol. The main lead actor is super handsome and the female lead is cute too even a bit skinny but I enjoy watch every episode. so Love it.

the overall story is good from the starting it will make an exctiment and also make you to watch it continuosly.
weiwei is actually active she perform her character very ewll when it comes to playng game and hanging out with friends but when it comes to romance she seems to be newbie she never feelos the passion behind the romance with xiao na she always seems to be stuck in betweek him and the wall and only acts like a victim who is forfully been kissed or having a romance i dont know why the director didnt notice this or all this was their actually plan but she is really not good in romance so when will you watch you will seems to be dispointed in that but overall whole story is good an also interesting and also i like to ask the cast of this drama which girl in 2016 is going to live without a smartphone for a whole semester . i will refer to watch this drama it will surely make you fall in love for c drama.

I had a high expectations for this drama , I waited patiently till it ended & then I started watching nonstop !! It was produced by the PDs that did both Boss&Me and My Sunshine drama , so I knew it was gonna be a hit and indeed it was . The plot , cast & everything was amazing for me ... The beginning of the drama till about episode 7 was slow & draggy but after that the story begins and it was a lot more interesting . I loved how the writer made the character of both leads actors it was nothing like any drama I watched like they're my relationship goal ^^ !!! Zheng Shuang I loved her but she was so awkward when she have kiss scenes , but other than that am totally satisfied . Yang Yang the perfect , handsome & romantic Xiao Nai < and the way he says that heartbreaker lines with a straight face like seriously my heart can't handle him xD The two makes a cute couple and they suit each other very well , they make me feel calm like no other couple did kkk ... So end of story if you like >>> Boss&me , My sunshine : This's the drama for you .

Usually I enjoy the acting so much more than the storylines for most dramas I watch. Thus was the first time where the situation was completely opposite. I loved this story so much! It was the first time I had seen a storyline revolving around gamers especially involving female gamers. I most definitely enjoyed no love triangles lol. The main couple trusted each other and were confident in their relationship. I liked that the female character was strong, intelligent and confident. Unfortunately I can't say much for the acting. The acting was super stiff and like robots at times, it was extremely frustrating to watch. The story line was what kept me going even though it was super slow and I felt like they could've told the s story in half of the amount of episodes. If you enjoy stable relationships and a fresh story but at the same time are very patient and are ok with slow plotlines I would def recommend.

Light and sweet romcom about two gamers who fell in love online and offline

Likes:
1. Loved the couple esp Xiao Nai, although getting married a year or two after college seemed too idealistic! Wanted to see Wei Wei be her own person and away from Xiao Nai.
2. I loved the friendship between the guys and the girls.
3. Erxi was so cute and sweet and i felt bad that she gets overshadowed by her prettier friend. I was hoping they show that Erxi is also competent in her own way.
4. I didnt like Cao Guang and didnt want to see him pair up with Erxi!! I wanted Erxi to end up with Xiao Nai's bff who seems funnier and nicer.
5. I liked the growth in Zhen Shaoxiang's character from being a freeloading rich kid to an ambitious career guy. Glad he finally dropped Yaoyao. Yaoyao is not bad but she needs a new set of friends and not the mean girls she keeps hanging out with.
6. Meng Yiran as a character was unnecessary and she was dumb to always listen to Nana and not have her own opinion. I also liked her growth in the show although wanted her to have her showdown with Nana (but i guess she isnt worth it).
7. I also loved the stories and relationships within the game itself, i thought it was unique.

Dislikes:
1. At 30 eps, this drama was a bit long, i think there were several unnecessary characters and scenes that could have cut down the episodes to just 25.
2. The kissing scenes were cringey. Wei wei always looked like she was enduring the kisses. The actress was also awkward in some scenes. Yang Yang also stood straight and stiff like he is posing for a magazine or walking the runway.

I watched this drama probably months ago but recently I've decided to write reviews for some of the dramas I've completed to make my experience with watching dramas better.

"Love O2O" is a story about 2 gamers meeting each other in this specific game and finally meeting in real life and falling enough. This, is the summary in short. I actually wasn't considering watching this drama, but comments from others I've watched all recommended this one.

Story:
This concept of the story was interesting, a story about gamers, IT geniuses and the starting of a relationship, well, all is well apart from one flaw of this drama. It was way too perfect, so perfect it actually made the drama boring! Everything was just smoothly flowing and everything had a happily-ever after and there weren't actually a lot of things we as an audience could have suspense for or anything that makes us really excited to watch the next episode.

Actors/Cast:
I actually discovered Yang Yang through this, and I have to admit, this character didn't really show his full potential in acting. The character he played which was Xiao Nai was supposed to be a cold and distant character and the most popular guy on campus and being distant and cold you couldn't really put much emotion into your acting, he had the have almost the same expressions most of the time.
I don't think Zheng Shuang wasn't fit to play the role of Bei Weiwei but I wished that she could've been less "cutesy" and that the editors didn't put a really high squeaky voiceover for her. When I watched a variety show with her in it I was so surprised at the difference of her real voice compared to the voiceover in the drama.
I think cast and actors did an alright job but there could definitely be more room for improvement.

Music:
The only music I really enjoyed was the opening theme song, it had this nice feel to it, but that's about it.

Rewatch value:
Personally I wouldn't rewatch it again, so I gave it a 5 as part of neutral.

Overall:
The concept of the drama was good, but the way the whole thing was film and premiered wasn't exactly the best honestly. In my opinion this drama is a little overrated, being the fact that most people recommend this in Youtube comments, but hey, you do you.

Honestly, this is my FIRST EVER Chinese Drama AAAANNND because of it - I COULD'NT STOP WATCHING CDRAMAS ANYMORE!!! I GOT ADDICTED TO IT! (That also sets a warning to you all if you don't want another thing to be busy about on your list)

Im writing this review not immediately after I watched the drama, im writing this 10 dramas after. So my impression might be a bit biased already since I didn't write exactly what I felt after watching it.

So here is what I liked about it.
1. The main guy is so handsome, he is like a fairytale prince that you can't get your eyes off
2. He and his friends are so funny together
3. KO is soooooo boyfriend material
4. The game concept is reaally awesome

What I don't like
1. The main girl has a boring personality and really needs a sandwich (the antagonist even seems to be more interesting)
2. One of her friends is just plain annoying, her acting of being a naughty noisy friend is SO forced
3. The PLOT is sooo slow and not satisfying, romance scenes were barely there
4. If there were romance scenes, its the common ones you might have read in romance novels (e.g. wattpad)
5. There are so many cringey characters, especially the antagonists

HONESTLY, I don't even understand how I came to like it.
Well, credits to the CASTING FOR THE MEN though.. Their acting is so good and they have good looks to ;)
The men were able to cover up for all of the negative in the movie. Especially Xiao Nai and KO.

Okay, I might sound shallow for just watching the drama because of the handsome guys but come on, IT IS TRUE that they were the only thing good. They covered up the lacking parts in the series with their acting and making you believe that it is a nice romantic comedy series.

Why I was hooked up with CDRAMAS after this? (even after claiming that it isnt a good one)
Well, I came to like the Chinese idioms and I also like their series concept where they narrate what the characters are thinking. This also introduced me to a bit of ancient china SO THATS WHY the following 10 dramas iv'e mentioned are all historical ones. :)

Would I re-watch it? NO
Do I recommend it? YES if you're into handsome guys and NO if you're into plot

good

Love O2O is a refreshing and charming 2016 Chinese drama adapted from Gu Man’s popular novel. It follows the story of Bei Weiwei (played by Zheng Shuang), a smart and beautiful computer science student who excels not only in her academics but also in an online role-playing game. In the virtual world, she is known as “Luwei Weiwei,” a skilled player admired by many. Her life changes when the top player in the game, “Yixiao Naihe” — who, in real life, is the handsome and brilliant university senior Xiao Nai (played by Yang Yang) — proposes a partnership in the game. This virtual partnership soon leads to a real-life romance.

What sets Love O2O apart from typical romance dramas is its light and positive tone. There is no heavy melodrama, no exaggerated love triangles, and minimal unnecessary conflict. Instead, the series focuses on mutual respect, shared goals, and the sweet development of a relationship between two people who are both competent, confident, and good at what they do. The romance feels healthy and inspiring, making it a rare find in the genre.

Yang Yang shines as Xiao Nai, bringing to life a character who is intelligent, composed, and quietly protective without being overbearing. He embodies the “ideal boyfriend” archetype — but instead of being controlling or dramatic, he supports Weiwei’s ambitions and trusts her completely. Zheng Shuang’s portrayal of Weiwei is equally appealing. She plays a heroine who is capable, kind, and unafraid to stand her ground, whether in academic competitions or online battles.

The series also integrates the gaming element in a way that feels fresh. The transitions between the real world and the in-game fantasy sequences are colorful and visually fun, even if some of the CGI is slightly dated. These sequences also serve as a clever metaphor for teamwork, strategy, and how personalities translate across different environments.

Another strength of Love O2O is the way it celebrates friendship and collaboration. Weiwei’s close bond with her dorm mates is filled with humor and warmth, and Xiao Nai’s loyal group of friends adds a fun layer of camaraderie. Their banter and playful teasing lighten the mood and make the university setting more vivid and relatable.

Unlike many romance dramas where misunderstandings drag the plot, here the main couple communicates openly and trusts each other. Even when faced with jealousy from rivals or rumors on campus, they handle situations with maturity. This lack of toxic drama makes the relationship feel refreshing and aspirational.

The pacing is smooth, though some viewers might find the later episodes slower, with more focus on business projects and less on romance. Still, the lighthearted tone and consistent chemistry between the leads keep the story engaging. The OST, with its sweet and upbeat tracks, fits the overall feel of the show perfectly.

In conclusion, Love O2O is a feel-good romance that blends modern campus life, online gaming, and healthy relationship dynamics. It’s perfect for viewers who want something warm, wholesome, and inspiring rather than tear-filled drama. The message is clear: love works best when built on mutual respect, shared passions, and trust — whether in the real world or the virtual one.

Watching this drama was so fun and I discovered it to be quite addicting as well. The not so typical romance stories honestly caught me in it's web.
Being still relatively new to this field of reviews and also dramas I can say that from experience it could be an easy distressing drama to watch that leaves you with a smile at the end of the day.

An interesting plot not so commonly used such as love through internet me me want to watch it even more. One down side of this would be that everything goes too smoothly but again if you are not quite enjoying the over dramatical moments of dramas it would not be a problem. Honestly I like from time to time to see some tension between the characters and this had me shook that their love was basically true love with perfect trust. The plot ended just right with a more than amazing ending and everything settled down nicely in the end

The actors played nicely and transmitted every emotion well... and nothing seemed faked. The characters resulted commonly were even greater with the two world theme as the game went on and the real life so ever. Whatsoever in my opinion at some times it seemed a bit rushed regarding the normal way human emotions work but I think you can close one eye at that and still enjoy it to it's fullest.

The setting and music were definitely one of the dramas peeks. Maybe compared to other dramas the music wasn't so relevant but it always brighten the mood or didn't overlap to the main parts going on just when needed. The sceneries were beautifully chosen and I think that the way the characters were enjoying the fantasy world of the game is just how real life players do and is quite relatable.

In conclusion rethinking it it is a worthy drama and I'm happy I spent the time to see it. Also I recommend it to others that love gaming or the IT stuff and also for the ones that do love nice romances or simply want something bright and cheerful.
