Perfect story. Loved it to the end!

Well... I watched the Pillow Book before this one and loved the story very much! This one I have had in my watch list for a long time now and I am glad I finally watched it!

Story... was beautiful. Did I skip some? Ya ONLY because I wanted to find out what would happen next and was to anxious and impatient to find it out in some parts.😂🙄 Sorry that is me. Sometimes I skip parts or episodes because I cannot wait to see what happens! It was really good though! The last 30 episodes I was glued to! The ending was going to make me mad but I am glad I was not disappointed! I did love how they intertwined the Emperor Lords story into this one. Now it makes me want to watch that one again!

Cast... was so good in this! They did an awesome job. There were a few I so wanted to see get their just rewards and I am so glad they finally did. The two main leads I fell in love with and could not get enough of the story they told.

Music... was beautiful! Wanting to find it on Amazon but no such luck!☹️

All in all this show was great! I loved the story and the acting. I will be watching it again along with Three Lives Three Wolds The Pillow Book. Now I am off to watch the second one and I am excited that there is a third one coming out soon! I hope it is as good as this one.

One of the best fantasies!

A rich fantasy world that I want to revisit again and again, an engrossing story, great cast, beautiful cinematography, and satisfying ending. While some things were a bit cheesy (like the special effects) and a bit over the top (the drama of the story is a bit much sometimes), it's hard to stop watching it, even though I've seen it before. I loved it even more the second time.

I also love that some of the side characters were so popular that a sequel was made to give them a better ending!

Better than Ashes of Love, for sure to me

So after I finished Ashes of Love, I had to write the review for that, then writing one for this because its my favorite out of them both. So first off, be mindful about immortals in this world, its not god that can not die. Immortals in this world or so to say the asian world, is pretty much human with powers and doesn't get sick illness and die unless poisoned or physical/mentally hurt/injured. I was initially turned off by understanding immortals that love each other, having kids succeeding them, but that was thrown out right after I finished the first story arc of Su Yin. The story really picks up after Su Yin becomes Bai Qian not long after, the addiction of having to stay up all night watching it, you guys know the feel. The mortal trial isn't that long compare to Ashes of Love because it continues where she enters the immortal world with the ML still as a mortal. This arcs basically showcase jealousy and plan/plot to harm FL with misunderstanding from ML, the only angst I believe I felt and encounter, but a good one, not the kind that pisses you off with plotholes but non the less to say it is not. It continues to draw you in like glue when Bai Qian return to immortal and addiction continues to the end. Watch this show now, and tell me if you agree with me. Anyways, enjoy your time while out in this virus days.

This is the only drama that I've watched three times. That's how much I loved it. But I'll keep my review simple and easy to read, instead of reading long paragraphs.

+1 Amazing Cast (No one can play a better Yehua)
+1 Beautiful & Befitting Music (music really set the tone/stage for this drama, went along with the theme, plot, and brought out the story altogether, without the music, or music in general, it would be hard to make successful dramas, good music is what draws people emotions and imaginations)
+1 Romance Action (more like +100, at first you're like where's all the real action? Just wait and keep watching, you WON'T be disappointed. Trust me on this one. It'll creep up on you and surprise you out of nowhere)
+1 Beautiful & Eloquent Clothes Set
+1 Strong, Creative and Complex Story Plot
+1 Set (pretty good for a fantasy drama for the most part)
+1 Relationship Build
+1 Character Build (except for the relationship between Moyuan and Siyin. It kind of came out of no where, like what? huh? They had a close mentor/mentee relationship? Didn't see that but since everyone said so then okay...)
+1 Strong Side Character Stories (Feng Qiu's side story was kind of redundant and annoying but they made the story interesting and impactful at the end)
+1 Good Ending

Cons?
- Fighting action could have been better and "floating/flying" scenes were average and very noticeable
- Like most dramas in general, some dragging parts that take forever with your typical mellow characters, but the story eventually picks itself up. Can't avoid that one.
-Some people will have a hard time liking the male lead at first but don't worry, he'll draw you in when you least expect it.

Before you read my review, please know that this might very well be my favorite TV series next to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I love love love the show, Eternal Love: Ten Miles of Peach Forest. There is nothing I do not love about this show. This was the very first C-drama I experienced and what a roller-coaster ride. From the gorgeous costumes and scenery to the cadre of wonderful characters, it was brilliant. And can I say that hair was over the top, practically a character of its own? The relationships, the villains, and the love stories were entertaining and kept me interested.

The story begins with Bai Qian, youngest and only daughter of the Fox King. A family friend, Zhe Yan disguises her as a boy and takes her to be a disciple with High God Mo Yuan, who knows right away she is a girl. She is adventurous, mischievous, and drinks way too much, despite that, she develops loyal and strong relationships with her new adopted brothers and Mo Yuan. From there, the story gets more epic with battles, a destructive bell (because all bells are dooms day machines?), a shattered soul, mortal trials, a very jealous woman, and a whole separate love story between her niece and the oldest (youngest looking) character in the heavens.

Mark Chao and Yang Mi did a fabulous job keeping me focused and interested in the story. I love strong women characters and Yang Mi nailed it with Bai Qian, making us love her even more as we watched her grow from Si Yin, to the mortal Su Su, and finally a high goddess. Mark Chao….hmmmm, I could talk about him for another six paragraphs. To keep it short, I’ll say Mark Chao’s Mo Yuan and Ye Hua characters were so captivating that by the end of episode 50, you wanted both to end up with Bai Qian.

There are friendships between many of the characters that carry the story through the episodes where the story might drag. The supporting cast was wonderful, and I am eagerly anticipating the Pillow Book sequel to find out what happens to the relationship between Feng Jiu and Dong Hua (sigh…it had better be a happy ending). Some of my favorite relationships in the show: the friendship between Zhe Yan and Bai Zhen, the brother/brother(sister) rivalry between Zi Lan and Si Yin, Si Yin and all his/her disciple brothers, Si Ming and Feng Jiu’s friendship, Zi Lan and Yan Zhi’s romance, this list is endless. If you have the time, take a week or two and binge watch. I hope you will find the show as fun as I did.

There's so much to say about this drama but not enough words to describe the effects that I'm still feeling after watching it. This is hands-down one of the best dramas I've ever had the pleasure of pushing aside my studies for. I loved it so much, I found myself watching all of the BTS and the bloopers.

The plot was never boring and I had a blast being taken on this emotional rollercoaster. I'll be honest, it'll be hard to watch some of your ships sink, but don't give up! Because it's the ships that do sail that will make it worthwhile to stick out until the end. That doesn't count as a spoiler, right? Anyways, everything from the costumes to the cinematography was absolutely stunning... And you know the storyline is good when those 45 minutes per episode just fly by.

Yang Mi and Mark Chao did such an amazing job portraying their characters. They did so well, they deserve a standing ovation. Their chemistry on set was undeniable, and I sincerely hope there comes a day when they would be reunited by another drama. But this isn't to say that the other actors/actresses didn't do well. They all exceeded my expectations and everyone looked so beautiful.  I loved them all, including the antagonists.

The soundtrack for this drama killed me (x1000). It was as if they knew exactly when to play it; and when they did, all those feelings felt like arrows going straight through my cold, brittle heart. But props to them for making me feel some type of way.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who's looking for a good heart squeeze. But be warned because ever since I finished it, I've been having serious withdrawal symptoms and I don't think this is going to go away anytime soon. The only way to solve this problem would be to rewatch it. But I have to keep from doing that because finals are around the corner and I don't want to dig myself a deeper hole here. But you guys are more than welcome to! (Kidding, but not really.)

With that said,
Llama out.

This period fantasy drama is a gem. Everything was done at a high quality and the cast did a great job bringing their characters to life. Both leading characters (Mark Chao as Mo Yuan / Ye Hua /Jin Lian/Zhao Ge and Yang Mi as Si Yin / Su Su / Bai Qian) were brilliant and flawless in their acting; their chemistry was strong no matter which character they were playing at a given time. Mo Yuan and Bai Quian love story is beautiful, painful at times, but always breathtaking. Seen these two actors playing such different multiple roles and doing it in a way that, although every character was different, the essence of their soul and their strong love bond was believable, is perfect and mesmerizing. The OST is beautiful and emotive, and the drama has beautiful costumes, great CGI’s, and well choreograph action scenes. Great drama, enjoy it!

I can't stop watching this. The music is beautiful, the set/scenery is beautiful, the acting is phenomenal, and the story is captivating.  The love stories in this drama are so touching, I shed a few tears watching this. I loved the main leads, Bai Qian and Ye Hua eventually finding each other is so touching. I also loved the little side love story involving Feng Jui and Dong Ha.I also love how interwoven the cast is, I love how some scenes are so comical and some just make you melt.

Definitely a great drama. The story follows Bai Qian, who is part of the Fox tribe (they have a strong hold among the immortal clans). She is quite a naughty youngster so her family friend, High Immortal Zhe Yan, sends her to Kun Lun to learn martial arts and good behavior from High Immortal Mo Yuan (also played by Mark Chao). Bai Qian is then transformed into a young male fox diety, Si Yin.  There are quite a few "love" plots that follow Bai Qian/Si Yin. Si Yin gets involved in a love story with prince of darkness, but it ends when her teacher passes away due to his father. Bai Qian dedicates her life to trying to restore her teacher's spirit, but ends up going into a heavenly trial as a mortal SuSu. SuSu meets Ye Hua, the imperial grandson and crown prince of Heavenly Lord's tribe. Upon, returning from her heavenly trial she descends to a high god but cannot handle the torment she goes through, so she erases her memory and goes into seclusion. Ye Hua also cannot get over his love for SuSu and tries to restore her spirit. Their love proves time and time again, that they're meant to be. I think it's cute because Bai Qian originally met Ye Hua but he was in the form of a golden lotus growing in Kunlun mountains, so it's like "fate" wants them to be together, but they always almost "misses" each other.

Overall, great cast and plot. One of my all-time favorites.

Superb acting and beautifully filmed

This was my first cdrama I ever watched and I am so glad because afterwards I was definitely hooked. An incredible story that has you on the edge of your seat throughout. Stellar acting performances by Yang Mi and Mark Chao, showing what truly superb actors they truly are. Visually stunning with amazing special effects. The only thing I can find wrong with this series is the character and performance by Dilraba Dilmurat as Bai Feng Jiu. How this character got her own spin-off series is beyond me? Although I’ve watched numerous cdramas since then, Eternal Love will always be my favorite.

Add this to your list if you are new to Chinese/Asian drama

This is a very beautiful piece. The story itself is wonderful, this has a mix of martial arts, traditional, and such. The cinematography, editing, special effects are excellent. The characters are well portrayed and are a visual -- makeup and hairstyle. The ending was worth to wait and watch for.

I definitely recommend this to watch if you are a beginner in these types of drama or simply have nothing to watch.

Watch for Ye Hua and Bai Qian

There are already a lot of reviews explaining the story, so I am going to concentrate on what I feel and my scores.

The story for me is 2 scores really. The story of the main characters Ye Hua / Mo Yuan and Bai Qian, and then the other people. The story and writing for the main story is well done and one of the best written around. The other storylines are all over the place, I love all the Kunlu brothers and their stories (16th brother and demon princes, love the demon tribe stories with crazy Xuan Yu and Li Jing., 4th brother and Zhe Yan, and even the hateful Sun Jin and heavenly Lord. The part of the story I could not stand was Bai Feng Jiu and Emperor Dong Hua. I started of thinking they were ok, but I ended up cringing every time they were on and hoping the scenes didn't take too long and we could get back to the other characters.

The acting was again hard for me and depended on who you were talking about. I will say all of the cast was great from Sun Jin and Heavenly Lord, who did so well at making me dislike them, to demon princess, the kunlun boys all really top notch. I adore 3rd Uncle and Chen Lu. I thought Venmo Gao was good as the Emperor Lord playing the stoic but I still feel character. My biggest issue was with Dilraba Dilmurat and the character of Bai Feng Jiu. I found her acting to grate on my nerves. I'm not a big fan of the whole I am young and innocent and the way she played it made the character annoying, I have a hard time watching her in other dramas now cause she just seems to annoy me. Ying Mi as Bai Qian is great, she does not have the widest range but there are times she impressed me and she really captured the difference between Su Su and Bai Qian, and even when she played "Xuan Yu". The perfect actor score really comes down to Mark Chao as Ye Hua and Mo Yuan. His acting is incredible. Watch the changes in Ye Hua before he meets Su Su, while he is with Su Su, after he loses Su Su, and then while wooing Bai Qian. His facial expressions and his eyes are even different. The scene when 2nd prince is trying to save his Snake love, he just looks on with a passive I do not get this. When he is with Su Su he seems like a young kid in first love with such a happy and easy smile. Then there are the heart wrenching scenes losing Su Su and afterward. Gone are the passive I don't get it stares and they are replaced with stares to burn a hole through Su Jin (but she is too dense to see it). Finally is the more cautious Ye Hua with Bai Qian, he's smiles are there but there is almost a sadness and less freedom than with Su Su, You know an actor does a great job when you feel worse for ye Hua than Su Su / Bai Qian after he takes her eyes away and she jumps off the terrace. If you are not sure watch episodes 27 when Ye Hua wakes up and refuses to drink the amnesia liquid to (best scene) stabbing Su Jin, then episode 28 when heart broken Ye Hua burns Su Su's cloths to make a fake Su Su but then is clearly an amazing but sad father to A-Li, and then episode 29 when he sees Bai Qian. In 3 episodes that was an amazing range of acting,

The music is great. I listen to the OST all the time. Remarkably my favorite piece of music is after Ye Hua meets with Heavenly Lord (having stabbed Su Jin) and he is walking back to his palace, is not in the OST. The haunting music along with the world weary expression and slow gate of Ye Hua make the scene so moving.

Rewatch value for me is I watched the entire show, rewatched it again in its entirety, and now I continually re-watch but just the parts I like. I find it more enjoyable skipping all the scenes with Bai Feng Jiu! I basically watch all the scenes with Si Yin and Mo Yuan, Su Su and Ye Hua, and Bai Qian and Ye Hua. Anything with A-Li, who is adorable, 3rd Uncle, 4th brother, well pretty much every scene not related to Bai Feng Jiu and Emperor Lord.
