Almost perfect love story :-)

I love the storyline! Almost complete package :-) the two main role actor/actress really deserve two thumbs up! The production was really did a great job, the only thing that (for me) was missing in this series were the original soundtrack (Ost) maybe if they put more “sentimental” music that really touches the audience heart its perfect 10 score.

The two main role really give life to the story, from beginning to end. Even though the story evolves in 3 different stages but the writers and the directors really execute it well. I will watch it again.

I began watching this at the behest of my friends. I will warn it is confusing to follow to begin with with all its different worlds and realms, and beings. It really took me a good 10 or so episodes before I started to invest and get into this. But after finishing it, and the emptiness I felt afterwards, and OH THE TEARS I cried? This is by far one of the best C-dramas I've seen in a LONG time. And I doubt I'll ever find a c-drama that comes close to this, perhaps because it's my first... perhaps also these things I loved/liked about it

What I loved/liked:
- OMG Ye Hua why you so hot, so brooding, so wonderfully devoted and amazing??
- Bai Qian wasn't just a damsel in distress, she was strong, courageous and OH HOW LOVED HER REVENGE WHEN SHE GOT HER MEMORIES BACK!
- the complicated storyline which left me guessing and wondering what would happen next!
- the side stories of her niece were not too bad
- the beautiful costumes, hair styles
- the amazing OST that still makes me clutch my chest
- the scenary WOAH
- the chemistry between Ye Hua and Bai Qian is AMAZING
- they don't ignore the son, they include him! He is so adorable and sweet!

What I disliked:
- I must admit I hated how the story ended with her niece and the white haired guy.
- lots of story lines to follow so can be confusing

I can't think of what else to dislike about this! It was just so well! Still trying to fill the void left behind :(

So beautiful drama .It having so many love stories ,so beautiful pairing as well as so emotional ,touchy and romantic scene .I like the the ghost king more than the first male lead as I watched his "never let you go " drama and I like his acting and the charisma on his face so I wish his love story with the lead actress which eventually is there in starting part of drama and I wished in which he should be pairing with lead actress but his character turned to be a "womanizer" but when he realized his true feelings it become too late for him ..His character did so many bad deeds in starting but at the end he turned to be good person but all his past deeds had to pay and his end had bad ending...Then I like the small love story between the lead characters in mortal life reign then big love story in their immortal life both story has so much emotions and lovely romantic scenes that didn't make the drama boring. Then again there is another love story which has emotion ,love but had sad ending they never came together ,I wait till the last episode to see their (dong hua and fue ji)ending but it come out to be sad ending ...There one small love story where both of them don't able to propose each other because they belongs to different reign but stare towards each other and shows their love so there is again a bad ending .Other supporting characters are so very cool like fourth brother of Qing Qing ,her mentor's brother zhi yan ,then that kid he is so cute and his dialogue delivery so adorable. As a whole I love watching this drama. Too good and too best but two flaws I want to see lead character marriage and Dong Hua's love story should have happy ending.

Pretty much everything's already been said about this drama, so I'll just give a few thoughts.
STORY: Not a 10 because there were a few minor plotholes and I was a little miffed at the conclusions of some of the couples. But it was definitely new and different, and unlike most fantasy dramas completely explained everything viewers needed to know about the world the drama was set in. Characters were fleshed out more than usual, and the leads weren't perfect but they were wonderful anyway.
ACTING: Mark Chao is my new obsession. They need to cast him as Li Shang in Mulan, or I will never forgive Disney. His Ye Hua was cold, courageous, and noble, but also sensitive, understanding, and fair. Yang Mi was spunky without coming off as immature or annoying. And everyone else was simply wonderful.
MUSIC: Downright gorgeous.
REWATCH VALUE: Not a 10 just because it's 58 episodes and I don't think I'd ever be able to manage that more than once without skipping. But it certainly has enough intrigue and story to keep you entertained for more than one viewing.

A-mazing watch ! totally spectacular ! all of the cast were so so so lovable ! They made the best out of such a huge cast and it's no small feat ! you'd love all the good ones and hate all the bad ones , very well executed and everyone lived upto their roles . but kudos to the main leads both Mark Chao and Yang Mi totally slayed their roles <3 Dilraba was the next best thing <3 every episode is full of content , The drama shows all those things you'd exactly want from a wuxia dealing with gods and deities .. Ye-Hua is such a lovable man <3 You'd love every moment of him , you'll laugh and cry with him if you get into it , Bai-Qian Gosh such a brilliant queen she is <3 Such a sassy princess .. You'll like her in every form but Bai qian is just the best it could ever get ! One of the best drama i ever watched :D Feng Jiu and Bai zhen were so lovable :D I'd literally go on speaking days about this drama but .. better for you to watch :D
other characters which i loved to the end were Di Jun , Lian Song , Star lord , Li Jing , Yan Zhi , Mi Gu , A-Li and Zhe-Yan

I couldnt help but need to give review for this fantastic drama. The great drama that i have watch before the sequel Eternal Love of Dream. I like how the soundtrack for this drama could actually bring me to tears. I love the lead couples and the second lead couples (Donghua& Feng jiu) i need to give big thumbs up for them they really bring the character alive. ? You guys should watch this drama!!!

I couldnt move on from this drama for about 2 week which i keep on replay the soundtrack in my phone RIP to my replay button ? i even did a cover song for the soundtrack but decided to delete it cause i sound like a dying frog.

The supporting actor and actress did very well. You cant help but really feel the hatred whenever their scene appear i keep on cursing? but then i realize that wow they really bring out the character alive. Thats whats we called Act. ❤

This is the first time I am so OBSESSED with a drama ever!! I watched plenty of Korean and Chinese dramas before, and some of them are hella good, but none of them got me hooked!! The acting, the cast, music everything is so on point!! The story itself is also very unique like none other!! It made me laugh, cry and even annoyed everything mixed together T.T I am SO GLAD that they made this drama a happy ending, I know that Chinese dramas tend to have either cliffhanger or sad ending while this one NOT!! I highly recommend this to everyone!!

Too Much Angst

Eternal Love is one of the first suggestions for those looking for something similar to Love Between Fairy and Devil. While the two dramas certainly had similar elements, I found Eternal Love to be too dark and depressing. It does have a happy ending (for those that need that reassurance), but at what cost? The characters go through some truly traumatic experiences; the villains are almost mustache twirling obvious; and the pacing of each arc felt drawn out and overwhelming.

While I may not have enjoyed the overall plot (or, at least, the way it is told), the acting and OST are top notch. Yang Mi and Mark Chao had some electric chemistry on screen, and their romantic scenes sizzled. Mark Chao, in general, completely impressed me - he played two very different characters in such an effortless and graceful way. I would say give this drama a chance if it sounds interesting you, but be willing to drop it if it doesn't hit you the right way.

Trailer disappoints. Costumes look bland. Environments look fake. CGI looks worse than a video game from the late 90's. Lost track of the times I've seen some love-sick girl jumping into what appears to be some sort of magical well. Not really liking all that I've seen of it so far...

I watched the story of Fengjiu and Dijun first, and found this confusing since there are now two different versions of them now. Dijun is also much colder and I like the other version better. However, I just enjoy watching Yehua chasing Bai Qian and getting his heart broken by her ignorant words more than Fengjiu desperately vying for Dijun’s attention. Her case is so pitiful it’s difficult to watch and feel happy, even though there are funny bits. Yehua is much better, as he is a male. I can’t understand why. Both dramas are great though, and don’t let anyone ever tell you otherwise. It’s just that Eternal love is funnier when Yehua is chasing Bai Qian, and Eternal Love of Dream is funnier when Dijun is being thick skinned and teasing Fengjiu in ways we could never imagine.

Main Couple’s toxic relationship

I finally finished Eternal Love, and I understand why it’s so beloved—but I also struggled with how its central romance is framed.

There’s no question the production itself is strong. The world-building, music, and emotional scope create a sweeping, immersive story. It’s easy to see why so many viewers connect with it, especially given its themes of fate, sacrifice, and love that endures across lifetimes.

Where it didn’t work for me was in how the relationship between Bai Qian and Ye Hua is portrayed.

A significant portion of their story relies on Ye Hua making unilateral decisions “for her own good.” These decisions cause real physical and emotional harm. The issue isn’t simply that he makes mistakes—flawed characters can be compelling—but that the narrative consistently reframes those actions as noble sacrifice rather than fully confronting their impact.

By the end, instead of a clear reckoning or mutual processing of what happened, the story resolves in a way that places emotional responsibility back onto Bai Qian. The dynamic shifts toward forgiveness without sufficient accountability, which, for me, undermined the emotional payoff the story had been building toward.

What makes this especially challenging is that the show presents this relationship as an ideal—an enduring, epic love. But when key moments involve one person overriding the other’s agency and the consequences are not meaningfully addressed, it raises questions about what kind of love the story is ultimately endorsing.

I can appreciate the scale, the performances, and the emotional ambition of Eternal Love. But as a romance, it didn’t feel “healing” or aspirational to me. It felt like a story where harm was absorbed and reframed rather than fully acknowledged and repaired.

This is the best drama I have ever seen. Superb acting, wonderful music, great production, interesting story line. It is a tale of unwavering, deep love following the characters through different worlds and instances of their beings (as spirits, mortals, immortals). Mark Chao is ourstanding as the leading male, and Yang Mi is the excellent leading female. The entire cast is extraordinary. This drama will change your life. and leave you with lasting memories. Impossible to let go, you will want to watch it again and again
