The cast and acting was excellent as well. Lee Min Ki was pretty much perfect as the prickly, socially awkward Se Hee. His chemistry with Jung So Min was excellent - although there is only so many times I can take their football talk and not roll my eyes at the complete transparency in how little they are into football (in real life I mean) - but also Park Byung Eun’s character Sang Goo, Se Hee’s best friend and Boss. All the leads matched well with their counterparts as well as the supporting roles. Shout out to Bo Mi as a character. Was a good friend to everyone she interacted with, added some good, witty humor to her scenes while having good chemistry with Won Seok (played by Kim Min Seok), to the point where you wouldn’t mind if he took her up on her offer to be together at the end. I can’t praise this enough. The acting and casting from the Families to the main cast was outstanding.

Series that will heal your heart
I want to say that this is the best rom-com series I've watched in the past 10 years.I watched this series after all 16 episodes aired, and after watching it I immediately watched it all over again 2 more times. I loved it so much. My heart swells every time I watch this series. It heals my heart. I understand Jiho and Sehee's reasons. Their reaction What they did seemed very natural. And I really understand how they fell in love slowly but deeply.
I would like to praise the soundtrack. The music used in every episode is very good.
Finally, I would like to praise Lee Min Ki and Jung So Min's performances. They were able to create characters that made me fall in love. Silent-faced man looks cold But he was filled with warmth. And when he started to love him, he almost went crazy in love. Jung So Min as Ji Ho is sweet, intelligent, kind-hearted, and has a very natural innocence. I really want to cherish her.
Take a look, I guarantee you won't be disappointed. And you will definitely love this series the way I do.

First, it's the perfect blend of drama, comedy, and romance, and the chemistry between the leads is AMAZING. I'd never seen JSM or LMK in anything before, but after finishing this drama, I had to go and watch the other shows they star in. Both are great actors and the characters themselves are beautiful, complex and hilariously relatable. The female lead is strong, but still struggles with her life and insecurities like any woman would. The male lead is completely ridiculous in the best way, and it's so much fun to watch him grow emotionally throughout the show. The way they fall in love is just perfect! Beyond the beauty of the MC's relationship, the secondary leads are all great, adding equal portion of comedy and drama to the storyline. Personally, the secondary love stories here (it's SO much better than them existing for the sole purpose of some stupid half-assed love triangle with the MCs) are the most fun of any show I've watched.
Second: The greater reason that this show is so amazing is actually because of all the things it DOESN'T do. I've watched a lot of dramas that are good, except that they have a majorly annoying character, dragged out plot or tired troupe. BTIMFL avoids what I consider to be major pitfalls. First, none of the characters annoyed me. I raved already about my love for the MCs, but real talk, dramas often fall short when it comes to the supporting cast. This one doesn't. No annoying supporting leads hung up on the MCs, constantly sabotaging their relationship. No shoot-yourself-in-the-foot meddlesome parents, and no mysterious, under-developed half-siblings jumping out of the woodwork. Not that some of the characters aren't flawed, or that you won't be annoyed with them at times, but generally, they all grow in a positive way and no one is over the top in their idiocy. Also, BTIMFL is refreshingly free of troupes: the male lead isn't some rich, entitled man-child. The female lead isn't woefully incompetent or have violent, emotional outbursts, the storyline doesn't contain any mistaken identities, amnesia, brother/sister complexes or unbelievably tragic backstories. So yeah, the fact that it's refreshingly different contributes, in my opinion, contributes a lot to the enjoyment factor.
This drama amazingly manages to avoid most of the things that annoy me when I watch dramas. That doesn't mean it's perfect or that you'll love it as much as I do, but maybe you will! It's definitely worth watching and finding out for yourself :)

Such a feel good series
This was an unexpectedly good series. Like there were soo many quotes here and there and the ost was sooo nice too. I honestly did not think I would like this series. And it wraps up quite beautifully too.And the acting was really nice in my opinion. I like the leading lady and after this series I wanted to watch more dramas of Lee min ki
The story itself is somewhat ordinary. But the way its executed Is very goood. I got some really amazing quotes from this movie. I actually paused and literaly wrote it down.
It is a very simple drama yet it makes you think.

A Simple Fun but Yet Profound Show
This was a lighthearted show with so much depth. Thanks to the writers who wrote it so well. Though the plotline seems so cliche, the depth came from the thoughtful writing of each character. There were many moments that surprisingly authentically funny, without trying too hard. The 2 side characters/supporting love lines usually are boring and overdone.. but it was rare to actually enjoy and be interested in the side stories that were engagingly interesting. Very very well written. Smartly written.Only thing, I didnt like the last 2 episodes which I dont understand why it had to be that way. Was very frustrating. However, overall it is a must watch.

One of the best dramas i've ever watched!
I loved this drama so much i just had to write a review. The story wasn't too complex but it talks about complex themes, it will definitely make you think and redefine your idea of what relationships are.
The dynamics of the different characters were all unique and they were all valuable, there was not a single character I disliked, because they weren't one dimensional, they all had complex traits and their own story, there really wasn't a single cliché. Our two lead characters might seem like the usual duo of naive girl and cold boy, but they really aren't like anything i've seen before. The female lead is sweet and oblivious, but she's strong, she knows how to set her boundaries and ask for what she wants, and that's the thing I loved the most, because usually female leads tend to let others step on them or they are too aggresive, but this woman is not. Our male lead is definitely cold and has his own emotional issues, but he's never a jerk, he struggles with this relationship but he knows how to respect the FL and he knows how to compromise.
I also really loved that we have three very different women, but each one of them is unique and strong in their own way, and their friendship is simply precious.
This story made me completely redefine my idea of what marriage is, and how a romantic relationship should be. It's heartwarming, uplifting, fun, interesting. I'll definitely rewatch this.

At the center is a contract marriage between two emotionally reserved people who are simply trying to survive life in Seoul. What makes this drama special is how it explores marriage not as a fantasy, but as a partnership built step by step. Love here doesn’t explode—it grows. Slowly. Naturally. Through small conversations, shared meals, and silent understanding.
The male lead is logical, awkward, and emotionally distant at first, while the female lead is warm but uncertain about her dreams. Watching them learn how to communicate, compromise, and open their hearts is incredibly comforting. Their romance is a true slow burn, filled with subtle gestures rather than grand declarations. When feelings finally surface, it feels earned and deeply sincere.
Beyond the main couple, the drama also shines through its portrayal of female friendship and different perspectives on love and marriage. Each woman represents a different struggle—career ambition, long-term dating exhaustion, societal pressure—and together they paint an honest picture of modern relationships.
What I love most is the tone: calm, reflective, and full of meaningful dialogue. It doesn’t rush. It allows characters to grow at their own pace. And when it reaches its resolution, the ending feels hopeful and mature—choosing love not because it’s easy, but because it’s worth it.
Overall, Because This Is My First Life is a thoughtful, comforting drama about finding your place in the world, redefining marriage, and realizing that even if it’s your first time living this life, you’re allowed to figure it out slowly.

This review may contain spoilers
StoryIt's more than just housemates who enter a loveless marriage, it's all about the meaning of marriage today. Would you get married just to secure a position or not feel social pressure anymore? Would you get married to an almost stranger just because you need a place to stay? The story really makes you think about marriage. The relationship between JiHo & SeHee is meaningful and their conversations very deep.
Acting/cast
Loved all of them. The relationships are very well-done. The cast is great and perfectly balanced !
The friendship between the girls and their undefeatable support despite their personal & discutable decisions.
I also absolutely loved the character of SooJi, this strong woman who must bend at work because she's the only woman and her colleagues see her as a sexual object or an employee who only does unimportant tasks. She is just great on every aspects.
