STAND BY YOUR MAN

One of the OST is 'Stand by your man' but this girl doesn't stand by her man. Seo Joon-Hui (Jung Hae-in) is the best candidate for sainthood for putting up with alot of s**ts of Yoon Jin-ah (Son Yi-Jin), 4 years his senior that he loves her terribly and deeply, that would protect and care to depth of his heart. The best perfect boyfriend that any girls in this world will go gaga over, his smile would brighten anyone. Both of MLs are very strong chemistry, a handsome cute 31 years old who fallen hard in love with his older sister's bestfriend - his bestfriend's sister, whose family considered them as their own son and daughter for long standing support and friendship between them. Suddenly, they're in relationship - although a secret love affair - afraid to reveal their true feelings to their family.....doubt confessing it to her mother which fairly ending the love story. Ep 10 starts with heartbreaking scenes, as the episodes progress their love puts on the line - the test that will be determined the true love.

Read the review and many don't like this drama. I love it, a love story that has depth, hope and love that would not survive when both give up on the relationship like many of us do. About the age different between them as an issue, 4 years age gap isn't bad, I don't understand the reason why her mom against their relationship. They aren't blood brother/sister, although he isn't coming from prestige family background but he adores and loves her....isn't it all matter? Obsessing with background, Mom becomes the most hated character here. Poor Joon-Hui, that guy deserves a noble award for 'best boyfriend' type.

Part of 'Stand by your man' lyric said;
But if you love him, you'll forgive him
Even though he's hard to understand
And if you love him, oh, be proud of him
'Cause after all, he's just a man
Well.....Joon Hui isn't like a type of man described on the lyric....he is the opposite. Probably, I love this drama because I can relate with my personal experience...the best and worst of being loved and in love...and when it's fallen apart.

This drama became my standard of what should i watch.

Ever since i watched this drama.. almost every other drama that i watched next felt so lame for me. I loved how realistic this is. The build up from the first 2 episodes may be a lil boring but everything became exciting after.. I think this drama breaks the norm of most kdramas. The depth of each character's emotion is elaborate which i really like.. and the cast all did so well. The only that may drag this drama down is the female lead's mother who is so
infuriating. The FL's mom's character was so immature and became so frustratingly unreasonable.. for me. To put it simply, this drama became my standard of what to watch.

Noona Ate My Lunch :(

Few dramas have made me feel as deeply as *Something in the Rain*. From its moody nighttime cinematography to the jazzy feel of the music, the show creates an intimate, cozy atmosphere that lingers long after the credits roll. But more than its aesthetic, it’s the raw, sometimes frustratingly real portrayal of love and human flaws that made this drama stand out.

The relationship between JA and JH and their situation viz-a-viz their family is complicated and at times very frustrating to watch. Speaking of the leads, they are also flawed as any person. JA takes JH for granted throughout much of the show, and when she messes up, her apologies often feel oddly flippant, lacking real weight. JH, on the other hand is immature, struggles with pride, which ultimately leads to their breaking point. He reaches his limit when JA’s mother mistreats him, and instead of working through the issue together, his solution is to demand that JA leave everything behind and move to the U.S. with him—an unrealistic, selfish choice. In the end, he’s the one who abandons her. That being said, JA also bears responsibility for their downfall. She was weak and confused when it came to dealing with her family, and she never truly protected JH from her mom neither did she assured JH through her actions that their situation with her family could be resolved. That is why he wanted to leave everything and run away

While their relationship had moments of deep frustration, I wouldn’t change how the show portrayed them. Their issues were laid bare but they never have a deep realistic conversation about it as a couple. Even when JH gets mad at JA for her actions, he never really lets his true feeling out (until the end in a drunken tirade and specially during the argument they have in final episode when they are at his house. It felt like a natural breaking point for their relationship which by they way would have been a more real ending (but im happy with the ending they went with, i would have been devastated if they they ended with JA moving to jeju and JH going back to US)). This makes their conflicts feel repetitive rather than leading to actual growth. That being said it did not bother me enough. It feels like a deliberate writing choice and im ok with it

What actually bothered me was there were too many scenes where two characters would sit opposite each other in complete silence for what felt like minutes. These moments could have been more impactful if used sparingly, but their frequent appearance made them lose their emotional weight. Additionally, while the soundtrack was beautiful at first, the same songs were played so repetitively that they became distracting rather than enhancing the mood. .

One of the highlights of the show was the way it portrayed workplace harassment. The storyline felt painfully realistic—showing how, in reality, the actual perpetrators of sexual harassment often get off with little more than a slap on the wrist, while the victims are the ones who suffer real consequences. The way this plot played out added depth to the show and reinforced its grounded, often frustratingly true-to-life tone. It added depth to the show and reinforced the themes of power and societal pressure that ran throughout.

Despite its flaws, *Something in the Rain* is a drama I genuinely loved. It’s the kind of show that stays with you, not because everything was perfect, but because every piece—whether frustrating, beautiful, slow, or heartbreaking—added up to something unforgettable.

READ IT TILL THE VERY END...
every scene every episode is a bit dragged out.. i didn't watch episode 15 and caught on just fine.. but the story was really good.. something a lot of people can relate to.. being an Indian i know how imposing parents can be.. since i myself is going through a similar situation depicted in this drama. so i couldn't help but love the story.. ending was really really good.. but a few episodes lesser would have sufficed.. one should watch it for a very relating and realistic story of love.. the essence of love in here is real..the characters and their flawless chemistry is just beyond real.. cheers!

Disappointed AF

Started so good, mehhh at the middle part, frustrated and disappointed af at the last part. I feel like i wasted my 9hours. 9hrs only because i enjoyed the first part. The female character was absolutely worst. Decisions.. like girl?! And to add up, the mother of Jin A. I hate her so much to the point that I would like to scream yet all I can do is rant on my twitter acccnt cursing her.. last time I hate this kind of parents was while watching Sky Castle and Boys Over Flowers. Ahahah they are the worst type of parents. Haha anyways.. all i can say is "SAYANG" hae in and ye jin were the best. Just that the script or plot is... ugh still disappointed. Sorry for the rant

first of all i really love (jung hae in) character and role,
first time to watch him he is a capable actor really a very cute one
there was a very good chemistry between him and son ye jin

the story was really nice delightful and very heartwarming till the last ep.

on the contrary of most of my friends opinion i found it was a powerful reason they left each other for
cause he wants to escape leaving her with such shame without trying to support her to purify her name,
he just want to forget everything
but his thinking was just like that according to his age and experience at work field

the real problem about the end for me WAS
how come with their level of love the end is soooooooooooooooooooo lukewarm and not satisfied like that
this is really sad although it's happy but doesn't fill my eagerness or ravenous towards a powerful end full of emotions and a specific one like they decided to get married through all the circumstances as if she had time to have boyfriend instead of a husband

i know age in front of an independent woman won't be a barrier but when i found my true love what 'll be my excuse to continue till the end :\
i was soooo frustrated really T_T

Unsatisfied with Making Love Scene

*Something in the Rain*

I watched this drama for more than 3 times. Flowing with the smoothly, lovely sequences, feels the warmth of falling in love. Capturing small things & gestures are the best attempt to make this drama succesfully builds up senses of love on screen. Excellent!

The courageous to inform that having sex before marriage in Korean society as common is highly admired. But unfortunately this part of scene are too bland & unelaborated. It looks like Kim Eun or Pan Seok suddenly hesitant to explore this part as well as before. I expect seeing how they stare eye to eye, physically caressed each other, gently kissing hair/nose/shoulder/neck, just to show how's Jun-hui deeply & madly fall in love with Jin-a's charm & vice versa. This love making scene must be become the peak of their inside feeling which already succeed built up on screen previously. Trying to procceed slight libido on screen will be great, and also avoiding impression that having sex is just only as an epiphenomenon of love.

Yes, too short ending, of course. Also Jun-hui's changing his mind only by suddenly hearing Jin-a's recorded voice is rather unlogic. But I still love your work. Lovely!

not bad, just a bit boring and slow towards the end

I didn't drop this because it was bad, I just was a bit bored in the end and then forgot to finish and now it's too long ago... I might give it another try at some other point, because it was honestly fun. I liked the male lead. There was a long and slow drama at the end. The relationship developed fast, but in a nice way. Honestly a fun drama if you have the attention span for it.

the first half of the drama was really good,it was so good that i was giggling and kicking my feet the entire time . but WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED AFTER EP 8?
And the female lead was really asking for a good slap.
demerits of the fl:
1. it was clear that the ml did not want to have any relationship with his father ,so why did she interfered? she had no right to do so.
2. she endured workplace SH for 10 years. 10 YEARS??? i get it that it is hard to speak up but every women around her was avoiding them but why was she the only one putting up with them? i coudve accepted her behaviour since she had a controlling mother, ignorant brother and a boneless father, so she really did not have anyone to depend on. still 10 years is too much.
3.SHE WENT TO A BLIND DATE? IT PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH AND HER LOGIC WAS SO FUCKING DUMB I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY .
4.she always tried to handle things on her own. its not a bad thing but the problem was every time she wanted to handle something she would make it 10 times worse than before .
5.after messing up,shed always say "i know it was my fault,im sorry" it was really annoying.
demerits of the ml:
at the begginging , he blamed the fl for not making herself clear to her ex without hearing her side .even when fl told him that she had made everything clear to her ex,he still blamed her . it was not his place to speak that way to her .
demerits of the fls mother :
i dont think i have to say anything about her .just so you know,, never in my life i wanted to slap a character as much as i wanted to slap her

it wouldve been a great drama if it had 12 ep .last 4 ep was so draggy that i finnnished it under 30 min.

Real Life Situations.

The show is about two friends, becoming lovers. a kdrama trope you're mostly going to see. This show made me feel A LOT of emotions. Mostly going from happy to mad. And repeating.

The story is pretty real. Y'know parents not liking the guy her daughter's dating and thinks of him as family. Pretty alright. And with the whole thing with the se*ual harassment at work situation.
The only thing that's stopping me from this becoming my favorite is Jin-a's character. She's too weak, like very weak when it comes to standing her ground. Sure she did argue with her Mother saying "Jin-hui's the one" but that's all she can do. Say that. She can never stand her ground and stop making her self be a controlled puppet. I consider her one of the most annoying female leads out of all female leads I've seen. The only characters you can even like a bit is Jin-a's dad, Jin-hui's Sister and himself. Maybe a bit of Jin-a's brother.

The whole timestamp being an hour and something something minutes long was SO unnecessary honestly. Hospital Playlist did WAY better with the time duration than these fools did. Made me even have to use speed by 1.5x on Netflix to not waste time.

The acting is too amazing to even talk about. ESPICIALLY. ESPICIALLY JIN-A'S MOTHER! OMO, her acting to AMAZINGGGG!!! They're even some times when I even hate her character to the fullest, but can understand her to! I watched this drama because of Jung Hae In and Son Ye Jin, wasn't really worth much though.

The music, shut up with it already. I know One Spring Night does it but geez bro, the sound track here is cringe, well, one of them. "It's hard to be a woman"," SHUT UP! The worst soundtrack in this show. Love Alarm even had better soundtracks then this lol and I don't even like Love Alarm that much.

The re watch value? LOW! I cannot stand Jin-a's annoying mother in SO much scenes, could only re watch for my lovely Jung Hae In and a bit of Son Ye Jin

In total, If I knew how bad the female lead was, I wouldn't have watched. So I wouldn't recommend this to anybody unless they wanna ki*l themselves with long time duration and boringness in this show.
I could've even re watch Vincenzo with this ridiculous timestamp. I consider anybody who gives this a 9 or higher a straight out monster, sorry not sorry. One Spring Night is better in some aspects.
I'm only giving it a 7 BECAUSE of the main couple <3

Spoiler!!!

Plot is really nice. It's happens in real life.. mostly society didn't easily accept the age gap between to couple. In this drama fl 35 y/o and ml 24 y/o. Drama very nice. Both main leads and other cast also portray their role very well. Little bit slow plot. Romantic scenes really gives goosebumps and butterflies.

Story of 35 year old woman. Her bf dumped her after dating 10 years. Giving rubbish reason she is not exciting. After she don't want date anyone. Her bestfriend brother return from usa after 3 years and who start taking interest in her. Then their secret lovestory start. Secret romance from family friends and office colleague. I think small spoiler is enough.

I Couldn't Get Into The Male Lead

The male actor opposite of Son Ye Jin didn't do it for me. Sorry, but thought he was pretty bland and boring. He just seemed to smile all the time and that doesn't hold my attention haha... I think I dropped it after two episodes.

I search for Son Ye Jin films, because loved her in "Crash Landing On You", but was disappointed. If anyone has suggestions for other dramas she is in, would love to hear about them. I love dramas that have a larger cast as well as in a community.

Thanks!
