I have no idea what to think this series ngl...
Where do I begin omgg... I loved this series and at the same time hated somethings strongly. My favourite couple was Ram and King, their relationship was adorable. For the rest, Bohn and Duan was sooo fricking toxic. If there weren't beter side couples I really would've dropped. I get jealousy, but the level of jealousy Bohn had was like insane obsession. Also they kept fighting all the time like what? And what happened with the parents of Duan? Like they were in episode 1-2 but after the it didn't seem like they even lives together. Then we have Mek and Boss, I loveeee unrequired love so I loved their dynamic. Also Boss trying to get girls the whole time was lowkey hilarious, sorry Mek lmaooo. The voice of Mek has really be done dirty. It's not bad that they hired a Chinese actor BUT when ur working on the voice overs you need to make it so that it sounds like they are talking. At some parts his voice over was way to loud for the conversation they were having and it quite irritated me. Ngl, later on in the series I did get used to it so it got better.
Anyhow, this series is definitely not my favourites but I didn't hate it either. I just wish it wasn't so toxic all the time.

Watch it for the side couples !
Well, let me tell you ! if you have watched a few thai bl series, you can easily get disappointed and discouraged by the very first scene. The main couple's storyline, Bohn and Duen, is pretty normal and actually includes a lot of cringe moments(sorry). But believe me, I watched the whole series (skipped many parts) for the sake of the side couples, Ram and King, Boss and Mek.
The chemistry and plot of these two were much better and i hope i don't offend anyone by saying the first two main actors could do better ! their love story didn't even feel real and I think there were many more ways to develop the relationship between Bohn and Duen, Duen being rather submissive and obeying for no reason while Bohn is that possessive easily-jealous dominant boy who enjoys bossing people around and thinks it's a way to show affection.
FOR THE SIDE COUPLES, it was way better! Ram and King's story was not that remarkable but was actually satisfying and their acting skills made things much more enjoyable. The same goes for Mek and Boss.
I am still wondering that why they have dubbed Mek's voice. Like, he didn't have that much of lines and am sure he could pull it off by practicing it a few times ( he is chinese) and the voice didn't fit his appearance and I am sure that if they would've used his own voice, things could be better.
Overall, DESPITE the main couples being a tad undeveloped and raw, I enjoyed watching RamKing and MekBoss parts.

Main couple no chemistry
The overall storyline of My Engineer is quite good, but I felt that the main couple lacked intimacy and chemistry. From the beginning, their relationship felt a bit shallow, and I just couldn’t connect with their dynamic. In contrast, I found Boss and Mek much more engaging.I also enjoyed the story of King and Ram, though I was disappointed that their relationship didn’t progress further. I heard there were plans for a second season, but sadly, it was cancelled.
If you're looking for a BL series filled with romance and passionate moments, this might not be the one for you. It seems the actors had certain limitations and were only able to do what they were comfortable with, which is completely understandable. However, even without explicit scenes, strong chemistry between leads can make a big difference. Unfortunately, I just didn’t feel that spark in the main couple.

RamKing is love, RamKing is life.
Here I am writing this review 3 years and 4 rewatches late. I'm not exaggerating when I say I've watched this show a minimum of 4 times; making it the Thai show that I've rewatched the most. It was also one of the earliest Thai dramas I ever tried and I don't regret it one bit. The genuinely great parts of the show coupled with the parts so absurd that they loop around into being entertaining make this show a worthy watching experience in my book. The selling point of this show was naturally meant to be the romances, and after having rewatched as many times as I have, I'd rank them as such:
1. RamKing: 10/10. No exaggeration, I love them. What happens when you mix the dependable senior x the quiet junior? Perfection, that's what. They were each other's support in their times of need and the way they were both written inoffensively was incredibly impressive considering this was an "old gen" BL. Ram's quiet and socially awkward nature matched with King's self-assured and respected persona were delightful to see. I loved how King melted away Ram's walls he built up and ended up becoming one of his few trusted people. The way Ram started to protect him like how he'd protect his best friends was enough to make me feel butterflies because it was made so clear that he fell first. King on the other hand had his development shown more in the last few episodes. I saw someone say that they wrote him "out of character" near the end, but I disagree. He was a guy used to having control over his emotions and his composure was afforded by his simple daily routine. His daily life was then thrown off balance by budding feelings for what was probably his first ever crush, who was also a guy, and then accompanied with a splitting headache to boot. I don't blame him for feeling overwhelmed in the last few episodes. He wasn't prepared to develop feelings for a junior that he only took an initial interest in and to have said junior then treat him in a way he wasn't used to being treated. I loved the way Ram would start to look at King more romantically as their relationship developed and by the end his staring mixed with his unconscious smiles whilst looking at King were enough to make me melt away into a puddle. They also had the best comedic scenes in my opinion. There's a reason why they are the most liked couple in the fandom.
2. TharaFrong: 7.5/10. I wish I could give them a higher score, but alas I cannot due to how incomplete their story was. You could tell this season was written with the idea of a second one in mind considering how their plotline was only halfway baked at best. That being said, I did like what WAS written of them. It was shocking to me that I ended up liking them second most considering that the first two times I watched it I skipped their scenes altogether. But upon latest rewatches, I started to see the appeal of them. Frong was an unfortunate romantic that was friend zoned twice in one season topped with his mother having a cancer scare. Then he meets the peculiar senior Thara that never once snaps at his outbursts nor does he take his insults too seriously. Frong is naturally caught off guard with this reception and later realizes he was lashing out at a chill guy that keeps a lizard as a pet and has a heart of gold toward his patients. I could feel the awkwardness Frong felt when he was with him and it was certainly a show to watch how differently he acted around someone like Thara versus someone like Duen. I can't blame him for developing feelings for the guy either since I just KNOW I've would've fallen head over heels for him if I was in his position too. It was clear to me though, that Thara did not feel the same as Frong did by the end of the season, and that was sad to see. If only there was a second season to flesh out their relationship...
3. MekBoss: 5/10. I know the MekBoss fans will probably consider my score as blasphemy, but I could not glaze them in good faith. I liked them a lot less upon the latest rewatch and I think I know why. Boss never gave the vibes of feeling anything toward Mek other than platonic love. I couldn't wrap my head around him loving Mek when he was perfectly fine with trying to flirt with every girl in sight and go on dates with them in high spirits. I don't think I would be able to do that when my mega crush is right around the corner, but he somehow did. I didn't like how it felt like he magically developed feelings in the split second he was confessed to. Rewatching the show allowed me to see how much he didn't seem to like have hidden feelings for Mek whatsoever in the earlier episodes. Usually, a writer will show signs of subtle feelings, but I felt nothing when I saw him. I could 100% believe Mek's feelings; but never Boss'. I also didn't like how Fon was treated as a result of the spontaneous romance. She deserved better than she got. I honestly believe that Boss should've ended up with Fon and him and Mek should've just been best friends instead. I don't mind a friends to lovers mixed with unrequited feelings storyline, but at least make it believable and don't treat other love interests involved as trash.
4. BohnDuen: 2/10. The holy grail of terribly written BL couples. Dear lord were they insufferable to watch. If it weren't for them being the central couple, this show could've been far more recommendable for me. But of course, in regular romance fashion, the worst couple has to be the one with the most screen time. They started off fine in a comedic way, but ended atrociously. I couldn't stand how many problematic BL tropes were attached to them. The whole "top and bottom" nonsense mixed with the "wife and husband" lingo was appalling. Not to mention the alarming jealousy thrown in for cheap drama and near sexual assault at the assumption of "cheating" made me nauseous. Bohn was an awful love interest and Duen was such a pushover. I didn't like how Bohn would boast of Duen being compliant to his needs and Duen having a backbone be treated as abnormal and undesirable. The nonsense with Mild was stupid as Bohn could've just avoided him or thrown hands as he did with literally any other guy in the past. But because he's gay, he didn't??? I'm not certain if that's the reason, but I can't think of why else he wouldn't manhandle him considering he beat up tons of other dudes. It feels homophobic if that was the reason. The way the couple would flip flop with their feelings and relationship status was also headache-inducing. Like, just pick a damn struggle and be done with it. Golly.
The rest of the show was a miscellany of comedic scenes and friend group bonding. I did adore the friend groups in this show. I thought Duen's group was a safe space for him judging by their protectiveness and none of them had it out for each other even a bit. They were relaxed and only wanted the best for Duen. Ram was super protective and for good reason since Duen was wanting to date a notorious playboy that was a red flag. He deserved to beat the dog out of Bohn but of COURSE Duen just HAD to interrupt the boxing match before Ram could claim his rightful win (yes, I am 100% certain that Ram would've won and that isn't me glazing him). Ting Ting was sometimes annoying, but I mostly found her kind of funny. I died when she said she would "open her skirt" for Bohn when Duen was in the gift box arc. I liked seeing a central female character that wasn't trying to home wreck in a BL. She was also gorgeous, alongside her brother (?). Tang and Ting were the definition of supporting cast, but I still liked their inclusion in the friend group. They had some pretty funny moments. Phu was even more of a side character but he was still funny. I liked how all five of the group's personalities mixed together. Contrastingly, Bohn's group was far more on crack than theirs's was. Bohn as the hot guy-wannabe leader, Mek and Boss as the playful couple, Tee as the resident flirt and gossip, along with King as the mature and dependable one. I loved them. I couldn't help but wonder how they all became friends, though, considering how different they all were from each other. I loved how they would be so dramatic about Bohn's love life and even betted on his losing during the boxing fight. They shared the same wavelength as me in that scene. Frong betting on Bohn's side clearly didn't know what a winning horse was, unfortunately; he should've just stuck with spite and rooted on how downfall. He would've made bag if that were the case. Also if the writers weren't wussies and allowed the central love interest to get his ass kicked in front of a crowd.
Another detail that I liked was how the characters' family members were actually involved in their plotlines. I like seeing the family members in stories and in this one there were a ton that were given little cameos. Duen had his parents, little sister, and Thara as his cousin. Bohn had his little brother, Ben. Ram had his parents, little brother, and dogs. King had his mother, sister, and nephews. Frong had his mother and older brother. I think that Ting and Tang were twins, too. I just really liked seeing the inclusion of the family members, even if they only had one-off scenes together.
The crack scenes in this show also had me dying. Whether it being Duen getting hit by a car in episode one, Ram crushing a water bottle three times in replay to have an aura-off with a hobo, or Thara having a dollar tree plastic lizard in a tiny container as a pet, I ate it up like I was fine-dining. There were also the parody fujoshi girls that were chasing around the best couple, and the absurdity of a twink like Mild having enough aura to scare Bohn off. I just couldn't stop myself from loving it enough to rewatch it 4 times, even if the writing quality was drastically different for all of the couples. I seriously have a hard time believing that the same writer wrote all of them, but I guess they just wrote whatever came to mind and rolled with it; obviously, considering how out-there the comedy was.
The production was all over the place. The music started off decent, but quickly deteriorated when they kept using the same damn songs all over again in every single episode. The filter on the actors that made their skin look fuzzy white was also an eyesore; stop bleaching away the melanin of actors, I beg. Melaninated people are gorgeous just the way they are. The voiceover on Mek was so bad to the point that I actually found it funny. It wasn't a dealbreaker for me when watching, but I can definitely see why it could be for others. I don't understand why they couldn't just allow the actor to speak, even if he had an accent. Ram, Ruj, and their mother all had accents, yet they were allowed to keep their voices. I don't understand that directing choice at all. Judging from the few unedited laugh scenes of Mek's, his voice was adorable. Poor bastard didn't even get to use it properly. The acting was okay with Perth having the best scenes, and Poy having hilariously awful crying scenes. Seriously, they were so bad. The translation on Youtube was also rocky, but at least I could understand the meaning of every sentence somehow. It was so grammatically incorrect at times that I found it funny enough to add to the comedic aspect, so I guess that was a win for them?
So, in the future I can picture myself rewatching select scenes again. I didn't give the Rewatch Value a 10/10 for no reason. However, the almost definite cancellation of the second season still makes me super sad every time I am reminded of it. I don't care how poorly construed this show was; I still wanted a second season. I understand why others couldn't enjoy it, but I still loved it. Would I recommend this show? Yes, but only for RamKing, TharaFrong, and the friend group shenanigans. MekBoss are eh and BohnDuen are virtually unwatchable. I wish all the best to any that venture into it. ♡( •ॢ◡-ॢ)✧˖° ♡

Great BL and some laughs, but...
I am writing a review about this series almost two years later, oh my. Anyways, I do have to admit, when I watched this series, it was only a little bit after I started really getting into BL's. I discovered this BL off a glimpse, not really expecting to watch the whole thing. Yes, just like many Thai BL dramas, there were many cliche moments that got frustrating. Like the basic "oh you kissed him, now I am going to be upset, and you have to come over and make this big apology explaining everything that happened to lead to that moment." Yes all those type of cliche moments. Sometimes they're really great in BL's and help add character development between each other. But other times it is just boring and annoying.I would have to say that the main couple got annoying after a little while. I really did like them in the beginning, but towards the middle and the end it was getting frustrating. They didn't really have the connection I wanted. There were too many moments where it was just awkward between them and nothing was happening, almost like the camera was idling there and they had no lines. Was the chemistry great between the actors? Of course, but the characters Cooper and Poy had to play together were just not there for me. There were also a lot of moments where the characters really overthought things, and that was very annoying. I feel the only couple who didn't create a lot that commotion, was RamKing's couple. In my opinion RamKing was my favorite couple in the series. They were the only reason why I really continued to watch the series. They had that great chemistry, and also had many times where they could open up to each other in the series. They showed what a real relationship can start off to and excel to become better. Was there a little cliff hanger with them though? Yes, and it wasn't that enjoyable. Ahhh, same for Mek and Boss. They were a pretty good couple, but once again, it was the cliche moments that really got me. Of course Boss had to secretly be in love with Mek, but also have to be into this one girl that he really didn't want to be with. It took so long to see anything happen between these two, and honestly it was upsetting. Like yes, the had their nicknames of wife and hubby, or at least something along those lines, but it just didn't really create anything until the near end.
To add, Frong and Dr. Thara, really ended nowhere in this series. It was more of a Bromance than it was of anything else. I really wanted to see their story show up. That is another reason why I continued to watch this BL. I wanted the series to really show more of them, and how they would've ended up together, but they didn't. Both Frong and Dr. Thara, were scared of admitting their feelings for one another, and it got to be frustrating. They could've even at least had one of the cliche Thai kisses, where one of them falls on the other and then lips touched, that would've even made me happy. But they didn't even do that. I honestly wish I could've seen more of them but we didn't.
I got to say, the amount of intimacy in this BL we got, was very little. Now I don't ever watch BL's for intimacy, I am more there for the chemistry and story line. But only like a few kisses happened in the whole series and it wasn't until towards the end, and yet for some of the characters nothing ever even happened to go further. It either left a little cliff hanger or really not much about the couple. I don't care if there were any bed scenes, but at least a genuine kiss that was good for both sides would've been great, because then you could've really seen how the couple felt about one another. Mind you RamKing had a great kiss, and you could see the emotion and feelings they had for each other. Honestly, I was really looking for genuine, sincere emotions and connections between each character but it just wasn't there, and it made me sad.
Now if I move onto the set up of the BL. It was based just like many Thai BL's, takes place at university and they're either in engineering or medical. I really get annoyed with that type of genre in many Thai BL's. Do some of the BL's do really good with that type of setting/genre? For sure! But for this one, it really didn't work for me. I didn't really enjoy the set up of the BL and wished it could've been much better.
To wrap things up, I honestly would recommend this BL to someone who is just getting into it, but for someone who has been watching for years, and knows what they're into, maybe not. Unless you like the cute goofy stuff. Now don't get me wrong so do I, but this one just wasn't what I was hoping for. I really just wanted more for the couples. Also like many of the other people have said, this series could've been wrapped up into 10-12 eps at most, but it was really stretched and it started to get boring. The scenes were longer than they needed to be and could've just got summed up. I was a little bummed out about this series, and wished it could've been a little better since the director of this series also did Sotus. I just wish there could have been improvements and more of a connection with the couples and even characters.

Bohn and Duen were definitely the funniest couple at first. Sadly, their storyline went downhill after a while, though their massive problems ended up actually being useful for character development. Personally, I wish Bohn hadn't been so volatile, but it was good seeing Duen's character stand up for himself, being both strong and soft.
Ram and King were very cute! I liked their storyline, through all its ups and downs. It was very hearttouching and beautiful.
The best couple was Boss and Mek. In the end, they were the couple I was rooting for the most while watching the drama. They're a good example of the best friends becoming lovers trope.
The ending theme song by Ton Thanasit is so romantic! It's the perfect song for a romantic comedy. I wish P'Ton sang more for dramas!

Main characters don't make sense!
I honestly wanna ask one thing (why are bhon and duen the main couple) they have a good pace at first then its all ruined by their slow pace and lack of cute moments like rest of bl series, where main characters/couple have cute moments which makes it lively to watch. After watching the whole thing i can say KingRam and BossMek deserve main couple role. They had the best screen time and moments in the entier series and only these two couples made me excited to watch next episodes. Even as supporting characters they had such life in their relationship then main characters.
Series isn't that bad its good, just that main couple wasn't that appealing may be thats how this story was meant to be🤔 not sure hut still mek was the best over all woth his performance

*Sighs* This was... something. Episode one was a snooze fest, and the course of events lowkey did not make sense. But ep 2 got my attention and I was able to invest myself on this.
That being said... I do not like the first couple. At the start, their dynamic was cute. The arrogant, cocky top that falls for the innocent bottom. But as their relationship progressed, it became an eye roller. I would genuinely be rich if I received money for every time Bohn got jealous over Duen talking to someone. It was funny the first time, but when you realise that home boy can't catch a break or even breathe in the same vicinity as another dude or dudeet cuz Bohn will throw a hissy fit, and you just get tired really quickly. It's one of those, ugh here we go again, moments. These two have nothing in common, and don't even have a single meaningful conversation.
Also, the communication in this show is shit. Buddy Bohn here got assaulted and just STANDS there while Duen accuses him off cheating. How hard is it to say, "i didn't kiss him. He forcefully kissed me." He had the opportunity to. Even after they got back together he didn't clear that up!! MAD AND ANNOYED DOESNT EVEN COVER IT. And their break up... couldn't even careless. Falling asleep. And this line. This fucking line:
"I don't like men. I only Duen." That just hurt me. So glad we advanced as a society. I fucking hate this line.
But I gave this show a 7 instead of a 6. Why? For King and Ram. Those two carried this fucking show and no one can disagree on that. There was not enough screen time for them, and I wished we got more scenes. Ram may not have talked for half of those scenes, but he sure as hell had more important things to say than the main couple. They built up his character so well, and his relationship with King was so bloody precious. I really liked the slow pacing of it, the progression felt natural and Ram slowly opening up to King and starting to talk to him had me squealing. But once again, communication. King, my beautiful boy, just why? Why do we have to avoid people and not be a mature adult and just speak about our feelings? I get it, boy was hella confused, but running away and avoiding Ram like he has the plague? Bro, do better. But I genuinely cannot wait to see their progresses in S2 if we get one.
Other things... Thara and Frong was the mature couple we didn't know we needed but want more off. Thara bragging about his pet lizard will never not be funny. And finally, pls get a Thai speaker for Mek. I tried. I really did. But the actor having his voice dubbed over took me out the show so much. I thought I was bugging at first, but the moment I realised I wasn't, I couldn't unsee.

My engineer; a series that's quite cheesy and cringe, but sometimes enjoyable.
Hi friends! This is my second time watching this series, and there's quite a lot to discuss so let's just get into it, shall we?STORY
Uhm okay. So I wouldn't say that it's everyone's cup of tea, but there are still some good parts if you know where to look. As I said, this is my second time I've seen this series (this time with a friend) and I enjoyed it much more with someone beside me to discuss the story with. Sure, there are some parts that we laughed and screamed of joy at, but also a lot of scenes that I wanted to skip. The storyline is cheesy and problematic, just in a boring or concerning way.
Couple number one: Bohn (the big baby) and Duen (the one that always says he's sorry)
First of all Bohn. He's pretty controlling, always angry and toxic. Like, he gets jealous ALL THE FUCKING TIME and it gets annoying after the first times of him dragging Duen along and trying to kiss him just so he can whole that he "owns" him or something. Then there's Duen, the sweet baby who always wants to do the right thing, cooks for his boyfriend and tries to take it slow. This boy just wants a life where he can hang out with his male friends without getting dragged along by his boyfriend that wants him to explain himself and then kiss him. Like how would even stay in that relationship?
Couple number two: King (the plant boy) and Ram (the doggie boy). My babies.
These two should really sit down with Bohn and talk to him about trusting his boyfriend, taking it in his time and respecting his life where he wants to have friends. King respects Ram, helps him and tries to comfort him but NOT asking him like it's a fucking interview. Just like Ram says; King understands him. Ram is this really focused on his task boy that doesn't want to talk to EVERYONE. He's caring for those he loves and wants to protect them from all harm. When you get to know him, you know you've found someone special that's worth your time and loving. Even though this couple is not official (yet) you clery see that this is going to evolve into a great relation in season two.
Couple number three: Boss and Mek. The husband and wife since ages back in time.
Well well well. First of all, poor these boys. I mean I wish they had told each other about their feelings at day one. Mek is crealy missreble with Boss dating someone else in the start of the series. I know that's a part of the story but i would rather have seen them being this couple from the start. And its kinda creepy yet sweet with Mek and his wall of fame portaing Boss and their friendship. Plus; they go from zero (aka friends) to lovers in a minute...?
Couple number four: Frong and Thara. The couple that has not quite started yet.
It's sweet, but I don't understand the fuss about it. That FrongThara and RamKing would be the ones that everyone's there for. (please don't hate me for this tho) I mean, almost nothing has even happened - but I guess that's something for season two.
Final words of this little rant; I'm mad that they made Ryan have a voiceover (he who plays Mek) just because he can't Thai that well. They could just have announced that he was a forgien student and that he was learning. And I hate that they had that typical stereotype thing that always in gay relations: "Im not gay, I'm just in love with *name*..." - like why canä't they be pan/bi if that is so important? Why making them a straight that's in love with one boy?
ACTING/CAST
Not that much to say about this but, the overall acting was sweet but not that good and belivbale. Let just say its certainly not one of the best I've seen in the BL drama community.
I have nothing against the actors, however some of the cry scenes and the love scenes dosnet work for me. But yeah, I'm quite harsh when it comes to this just because I feel this is the most important part (plus the story) to make it great.
I was glad to see that I didn't know any of these actors from any other series, because that usually fucks with my head haha. And also, Perth's (potraing Ram) acting was one of the best in this series. I love his way of showing Rams personality and you can see that he knows his character very well even though he's the polar opposite of Ram in real life.
MUSIC
They are constatly using the same music over and over and that annoys me a bit. For example, when its a sad scene it's this piano melody and when its a dramatic (even tho some times it's not, in my opinion) there's this action song. But sometime it was well needed to make the mood right however they maybe could have had more traks to use.
REWATCH VALUE
I'm probably not going to watch this again, if not with a friend. I just keep waiting the RamKing edits on youtube and are happy with that. Maybe even one or two MekBoss ones too.
SOME LAST WORDS
The summary: I would say that if you're really bored or looking for something cheesy and with some quite disturbing plots, yeah sure watch this. But its not a "Trapped" or Until we meet again" quality in this series. (actors, music, story) But theres some worth watching parts (aka RamKing) so yeah, watch it for those two.

Worth watching once and hoping for the sequal
I liked this show, but more in the beginning than the end.Is it really so that seeing someone getting a forced kiss results in breakup scenes? The writer and/or director should think this through more, I hate to see people getting depicted as light-headed simpletons all the time.
Next, what is with the sniffing? Is making sniffing sounds the new kissing? It is called a BL-series, but sometimes it feels like it is written to keep the main characters apart, not getting them together. Duen is cute, but if was together with Bohn I would not hesitate to kiss him.
The main save of the show is Cooper (Bohn) and I think I'd watch just about anything with him in it, he's a natural.

i'm sorry.
this was my second thai BL, i enjoyed it at first, but soon i was more interested in the side couples than the main couple. they lowkey disappointed me to be honest. i got more interested in ram (and his family situation) and king, so im glad that they will be the main focus for season 2, it was perth's first series, but he did really well!! love perth and talay's chemistry <3i did rewatch it, only for the ramking scenes though. the story became kinda boring to be honest, however this is just my opinion so if you like it, that's fine!

It all makes sense now!
I'm always probably more lenient than the average viewer when it comes to any movie/series, and in particular, Y series. I don't have to dissect absolutely every little detail, nor do I need to consider if something is realistic or not. If I get pleasure out of watching, whether it's the story, the characters, or the actors' performances, I can overlook things I may not consider realistic, or not the 'norm' in the real world. I can determine the difference between fact and fiction. Just because a movie/series is about, for example, zombies and ghosts, serial killings, drug use, or science fiction and super heroes, doesn't mean we can't enjoy them, Even if a series really is awful, and I don't come across them often, I always consider the amount of effort that went into the production, whether that's the actors' hard work, or the production itself. This is not a criticism of anyone else's opinion, by the way. Having said that, there were things about this series I didn't like.I liked all the couples, even Mr Controlling, Bohn, and the ever sweet and innocent, Duen. I would hope that a season 2 would see the progression of all the couples, but also mellow Bohn a little. Boss was a little too annoying at times, but again, I hoped that he would become more playful rather than constantly annoying in S2. I really wanted to see Thara and Frong advance their relationship too. King's sister and the 3 schoolgirls were hilarious, with their wild imaginations concerning RamKing, and exaggerating the facts - and I'm guessing, a little dig at the 'typical' BL fan. I also wanted to see Ram's father get his comeuppance in S2, for the awful betrayal of his family. The highlight for me was probably the final episode and the kiss scenes. I have to say that Perth really stole the show, and his kiss was one of the best in the the 'innocent' BL category, second only to SantaEarth's kiss in their 7 Project series episode. Unfortunately, Talay's initiation of said kiss, was very awkward, and he looked like he was in pain!
The story was fine. Not the best, but certainly nowhere near the worst, with a lot to commend it. I enjoyed watching the actors bring the characters to life, even the annoying ones, and was surprised to find out that Rice, who played Tang, is actually an acting coach. I would like to see more of his acting - I know he's in Step By Step, but I haven't noticed him yet. I'll just have to re-watch the episodes to date and see if I've missed him.
I found the music a little annoying at times, but that's just my personal opinion, though I did really like that pretty song that was used at tender/sweet moments. If I find a particular song that I'm not fond of for whatever reason, the constant replaying of it ruins the whole soundtrack for me.
I'll definitely re-watch ME again - I'm currently binge-watching ME today, for probably the 3rd or 4th time, and there have been some unexpected revelations...
So, now to the much anticipated season 2... I loved Ryan Peng in the part of Mek, but we all know he was dismissed from the show, even if we don't know the real reasons why. We know that Ryan and Intouch were friends, and I really don't like the idea of a new actor playing the part of Mek. On the whole, I hate substitutions in series - I find that they rarely work. I don't think that not including Mek would work either, no matter what reason f they would try to use to explain his absence . One thing I didn't like about how ME was filmed, was the use of dubbing for Ryan's lines. It would have been more preferable to me, to have allowed him to speak in Chinese and simply used Thai as well as English subs for his parts - it was obvious he wasn't speaking Thai, so why try to hide it? In We Best Love, Yu's character and 'his father' occasionally spoke in Japanese, but it wasn't an issue. As long as actor can convey his character's emotions, I don't see an issue in letting him speak in his native tongue.
We all know that Perth has left the company, so again, no Ram, or the possibility of a replacement actor. I seriously doubt he would be involved in a S2. I think we were all a bit shocked at his departure, but it all made perfect sense to me today. I came to MD to check out the actress who played Ram's mother. Although we got to hear Perth's and Dylan's English accents, it was obvious that she was not Australian, whilst of course, Perth so obviously grew up in Oz. It probably doesn't matter to anyone else, but I was just curious to see if I could work out where she came from - she sounds European to me, but she isn't listed here. It was whilst I was looking for her, I saw who the screenwriter was. Yes, it's the infamous Poi, one half of the writing team of KinnPorsche. This could be the reason why Perth chose to leave - we all saw his reaction to the writer's interactions with Barcode... If looks could kill! So if the series went ahead as scheduled, or was still on the cards, i can totally understand why Perth would not want to be involved. Currently, there has been no word on whether or not we'll actually get S2, but either the Build/Poi incident has forced the company to put the series on hold - whether it's completed or not, or Poi's involvement as (I assume), S2's screenwriter), has forced the company to cancel S2 altogether. I fear that there will be no S2.
