Starts Strong But Fizzles Out
I am shocked I finished this. But here we are.It had some good moments; but “Miss Truth” falls prey to the pitfalls of many Chinese dramas: poor pacing and unbelievable twists.
Pros:
• The love triangle was one of the best I’ve ever seen in a drama (until the end which was so bizzare). It made the two leads getting together all the more satisfying.
• Chemistry of the leads - They were amazing together. Acting between them was so natural, and it left me longing for their scenes together.
• The scrappy FL is strong and flawed in a lovable way. Great acting on her part too. Would love to see more of her.
• Overarching plot was also good!
Cons:
• Awful, awful pacing. I skipped through a ton, and I wouldn’t have finished it if not.
• The plot twists were out of hand. Most of them were just straight up absurd and made no sense to the story. I was so freaking done with them that, by the end, when the real villain was revealed I actually rolled my eyes.
• The way the FL treated the ML for a majority of the storyline got too much for me. I was actually getting irritated with her right before they got together. Plus, when it finally happened, we barely saw them together and we got one kiss haha.
Would I recommend it? Not sure.

Best romance-mystery period drama I've watched
Coming from a rewatch, I love this drama just as much the second time as the first.First watch impression: I loooved the love triangle in this one. The romance is shown rather than told and the actions really add to the depth of the feeling between the ML and FL. I loved how their personalities remained consistent, some may find FL too straightforward/stubborn/frank, but I loved that. And Xiao Song (Merman Song) is everything I need in a man. Smart, capable, cheeky, grounded, unceasing in his efforts to protect Ran Yan. All in all, a perfect match.
Su Fu is . . . well, he does a lot of the saving physically, but Xiao Song does it also on an emotional level.
Second watch impression: Bai yi is awesome. I really wish the relationship between he and Sang Chen could have been explored more because I get such lovely BL vibes there, one (Sang Chen) being the clueless one. I know, censorship, blah... but it in my mind they'd make a lovely match.
Summing up: hugely recommend the watch if you like smart leads and acts of service in your romance.

Overall story was good
Enjoyed watching this mystery/romance. It was a nice twist to see a female coroner in that time period which I'm sure was unheard of. This was the first time that I saw a love triangle where it was hard to decide between the two leads. I found myself bouncing back and forth between the two. But in many ways, I almost wished that she ended up with the assassin because I think the actress had better chemistry as far as the romance with the other actor. I also enjoyed watching the various other cases get solved throughout the series. It really was like watching a detective show as they solved each case. I also liked the side characters like the FL's made and the ML's assistant. They were devoted to them and it showed throughout the series. A fun series for anyone who wants to watch a show that's not just a romance, but has a bit of mystery, action, and even a little danger in it.Was this review helpful to you?

Poor acting but strong story line
Ok, this review is mostly on the FL. I had a HARD time trying to see her as the FL. The female voice actress sounded better than her acting. She might be kind of smart at solving crimes but that is about it. I don't see nor feel the romance between her and the ML because she spent 34 episodes thinking and caring about the 2nd ML. Honesty once she realized that she " loved" the ML, she still stabbed him in the back multiple times then get mad and upset when he didn't treat her like a princess. There are no emotion at all when she's expressing her emotions. Personally speaking she was playing with both male's emotions and acted all innocent and pure when she did something wrong. If you want to watch a drama about solving crimes, then this is the drama. It is very entertaining and catchy. If you want a crime solving romantic drama, this is NOT it. The ML was great the entire drama but the FL was getting more and more annoying near the last couple episodes. Alot of alligator tears after betraying the ML and him not wanting to be near her.🙄 Honestly wish the FL was someone that has better acting skills.

so abusive i stopped watching it.
I was really enjoying this quirky drama and then i had to stop. the character of the ML became so abusive i dropped it.I think it was suppose to be amusing however abuse in any for is never funny. I already did not care much for the ML character anyway, the attitude of tramping over anyone who was in his way is not very endearing by episode 28 i had had enough. I mean what is funny about leading someone about in chains, failing to even feed a person and then her happy face to be given a few cakes to eat. I found it so gross i couldn't watch any more.. I rated it as 3.5 and they were lucky they got that. I don't blame the actors they did the job they were paid for. But to be honest in the end i found the story line so sickening i just couldn't watch anymore. I sincerely hope that there is not a season 2 as is suggested.

Underrated amazing drama!
I hate how underrated this drama is. It had a perfect mixture of mystery, political intrigue, and skills. I loved the chemistry between the fmc and the mmc. The different cases were interesting and I loved watching the way the fmc's mind completed the puzzles. After finishing the drama, I watched it again! Was this review helpful to you?
