Yes, As always, actor Xiao Zhan always delivers high quality works

I been watching this anime since I was teenage, the live action of Tang San plays by Xiao Zhan is on point, he ace it. The acting, the scenery, and omg the EFFECTS!

They must used lots of money on effects on this series because the anime I watch has many MANY magical effects so the production of the drama team done a phenomenal job showing it. The casts was great too.

Tang San and Xiao Wu was so fun to watch, I find myself surprise I didn’t find the female lead to be annoying. She was just so adorable and a positive character. I already know the story because of the anime and just watch because of Xiao Zhan to find the differences of the live action and the anime. I’m not going to spoil it for you. I am finishing up this series, I can already tell that’s a well made fantasy with good graphics and special effects.

Xiao Zhan never disappoints!

This drama captures your interest from the first scene and doesn't stop. The cast is outstanding and Xiao Zhan as the lead couldn't be better. Anyone who gives bad reviews has hateful ulterior motives. Watching from America, it is mind blowing to see how hater fans are allowed to continue their destruction.

I'm slowly absorbing every episode because I don't want the drama to end. Knowing that Oath of Love and Ace Force are on the horizon gives me hope to see more of Xiao Zhan's incredible talent. What will Xiao Zhan do next? Can't wait.

Amazing Fantasy

I am really enjoying Douluo Continent without any knowledge of the novel or anime. Welcome to the fantasy world of soul masters, soul powers, soul rings and supernatural creatures. The story also involves adventure, friendship, romance and mystery. The story is humorous with a sunny outlook. The characters are down to earth but endowed with supernatural powers. The talented actor, Xiao Zhan, makes Tang San come alive with his natural acting. In fact, he is the perfect choice for Tang San, perhaps because the author of the novel himself was involved with the casting. The Tang San and father team has excellent chemistry. Tang San is kind, intelligent, courageous, modest and loyal with strong principles. I am curious about these: Does his father have hidden skills besides his trade? Who is his mother? The Master is a courageous character with strong principles. In contrast, Ou Si Ke is a hilarious character with his distracting obsession. The cast is large and excellent. The female characters are independent and capable of defending themselves. We follow Tang San's journey as he gets involved with adventurous team work with his buddies from an unorthodox institution. The way he deals with bullying and other issues is inspirational. The suspense makes me addicted to the series, because I want to know what is going to happen next to Tang San and his companions during his adventure in Soul Land.

The OST suits the story very well. The CGI are impressive, which is unsurprising since a cutting edge special effects expert was hired for this project. The scenery is beautiful and the cinematography is excellent. In summary, it is an impressive production of a fascinating story. In fact, the author of the original novel provided input to this adaptation, and is very happy with the resulting drama. Thanks to Douluo Continent, I can travel vicariously to Soul Land during this stay-at-home February.

IF U HAVE WATCHED THE ORIGINAL (or have taste) YOU WILL HATE IT

I am a fan of the donghua and I started this because of the good ratings .... what the hell is this? the cgi seems cool and i was excited for a moment but the story and characters have NOTHING to do with the original!!! and the acting is cheesy af and super melodramatic??

both ML and FL are terrible actors, how did they pass the audition for this? did they pay the director to hire them? what a disappointment for any true fan of the original material but then again, what else to expect? they never do justice in these adaptations. i still remember the netflix death note utter cringe .....

shouldn't have even watched as much as i did but i was hoping it would get better smh

avoid it unless you're into overrated chinese idols pfft

I love this

Xiao Wu’s acting really got me. I seldom watch these type of stories and it got me hooked. I really like the actors they casted especially the actor of Xiao Wu. I really hope I can see more of the same actors despite that abrupt ending. As for the background and all the action parts, it is really realistic and it seems very real. I love how they make all of the fire and Tang San’s “tree branch” skill look so realistic. Really love this show and hope to see more of it.

Cute show about magic academies

I enjoyed this one. I thought the world-building was well done and I liked the theme of a group of young people coming together as a team. I look forward to seeing Wu Xuan Yi in more works--she was adorable as a feisty rabbit in Douluo continent and Xiao Zhan did a good job playing an idealistic young 'lad' who had some growing to do. I also liked the hate-to-love relationship of Dai Mu Bai and Zhu Zhu Qing. The Headmaster was my favorite character--he was so hilarious, especially his obsession over money. Seeing Calvin Chen in his early forties in DLC and then watching him in KO One was a bit of a shock--should have done those in reverse order (though I'd really only watched KO One for Jiro Wang).
There was some illogic and inconsistency as there is in all dramas (for example, why was there no audience during the final competition--wasn't it kinda of a big deal!?). The evil characters' motives sometimes seemed a bit fuzzy. I also felt bad for all the animals they were always killing off--though that was kind of the theme and leads' goal was to minimize the need for that type of killing.
I'm looking forward to Season 2 (hopefully there is one, given the ending). I would recommend it to those looking for a Xuanhuan version of Harry Potter & the like. :D
PS. The music was bizarre. I read here on MDL that it was due to copyright issues so they had to use different music than what the original played in China. However, they should have picked something other than 1970's porn music (not that I know from personal experience, but that's what I imagine it would sound like. ;P)

Comforting and great plot!

Overall, an amazing plot and just?! Worthy of being a comfort drama, without a doubt. Characters will really make you sympathize with them :') and there is a strong sense of companionship between them all, and of course, the main couple's platonic relationship is truly tender to watch! While I have not read the actual web novel, I can still somehow assume that this is the best adaptation they can make; besides, this was just the beginning! Anyway, the story pumps you up and you feel as if you are there with the characters and constantly improving with them. That's what I feel!

Have a good trip

This series was pleasingly nice and friendly. Adventurous, entertaining, creative, an exciting adventure and fantasy story. The main couple had a sweet love story from beginning to end, without triangle garbage and side-kick bullshit. Other interesting relationships developed as the story progressed.

So there are authors who are obviously creative enough to do without side-kicks as the driving force behind a story. Bravo for that!

The actors are great, I especially liked the bunny girl, whose background you can find out for yourself. But she's adorable. Only at the end there's that standard separation of the lovers again, obeying an unavoidable China story compulsion.

There is to be a Season 2, albeit without Wu Xuan Yi. This bunny is said not to have been good enough and another actress is said to have been chosen. I haven't found anything about a Season2. Does anyone know anything about it?

Great for watching with young teenage boys

I find it is quite an entertaining drama series to watch with a good plot that keeps unfolding. The best thing about it is that I would say is PG-rated (though some might say it is too violent) which is often quite difficult to find these days. The CGI is pretty good which is important for a fantasy wuxia drama and because it is comic-based, themes such as "cultivation" etc. would appeal to young teenage boys. It is possibly somewhat educational too (e.g. on the importance of perseverance) but I won't want to bang on about it.
