One of the best in 2020
I watched this drama in 3 days and I am impressed how well, pretty much everything was done even though the drama is kinda short with only 24 episodes. The story is simple but surprisingly well done! While there were minor holes in the story but with the satire around it, you will not even notice it.
The end was great but it does bring some questions like: Where are the rest of the "team"? There must be somewhere in the world -This aspect of the story could have been explored further but it would bring complexity to the storyline.
Main actresses and actors were great with good chemistry and just as good supporting roles. Mrs. Zhao is perfect for this role and despite her age, she plays the character very well with all the range of emotions. I have always enjoyed shows she's been in.
With the fast passed story, you will not even notice the music but I liked the OST nevertheless.
Overall, this drama is definitely worth your time!

Well Done Rom-Com Parody on C-Drama Tropes
OVERALLI won’t say much because there are not many episodes and I don’t want to spoil many moments. I promise that you will be laughing your way through this drama. There were some moments where it can feel slow, but they are doable moments. You will fall in love with the supporting cast and end up wanting a second season. The production quality isn’t great, but with this low budget and great acting, it was something that could be overlooked.
STORY
The story first started with our male lead questioning the script of the drama. Why do the main leads have to fall in love with the female lead just because she was the female lead? This is an issue that I have seen lately with dramas. Just because they are listed as main leads, they are to fall in love but there is little to no courtship or compelling reason for them to fall in love with each other. It is like an arranged marriage that is to happen per your parents’ request.
The second trope is time travel/jumping into a novel/taking over someone else’s body (my guilty pleasure trope). If you read enough web novels or watch enough C-dramas, you know this is a popular trope. If there was not a ban in China on this trope, we would see it more in the web novel turned dramas. This trope showing up in the drama made it into a comedy filled with so much laughter involving our female lead.
There are many more tropes, but they are easter eggs for you to find when you watch it.
ACTING/CAST/CHARACTERS
Zhao Lu Si has done it again in bringing her character to life and this time as Chen Xiao Qian/Qian Qian. Her character was so hilarious to watch because she knows she’s stuck in a predicament where she wrote for her character to die. She tries to stick to the original storyline but then tries so hard to survive so that she can go back home.
This is my first drama with Ding Yuxi and he is a great actor who uses his facial expressions and little movements to add to his acting. I’m so excited to check out more of his works.
Honorable mentions to Zi Rui and Bai Ji for making me laugh so much! I hope to see them all in the second season!
MUSIC
The music didn’t stand out much for me while watching. Henry Huo’s Rumor and Shuang Sheng and Yao Yang’s Moonlight were great tracks. Zhao Lusi also sang one of the soundtracks.
RE-WATCH VALUE
I would re-watch this series again. It’s a lighthearted romantic comedy that doesn’t take more than 16 episodes to complete. I think that itself is a great reason to re-watch.

OMG...Hilarious
Zhao LuSi and Ryan Ding were the cutest couple..their chemistry were genuine, hilarious and perfect match for each other. Zhao LuSi was cheerful, mischievous, happy, and smart while Ryan Ding more naive in the name of love but also calculated and kind, he's super jealous to Pei Heng (of course, why would his wife flirt with an old flame/ex fiance?). From the start they met till the end, it was full of sweetness, comedy, and survival techniques (for Chen Qing Qing). There're a lot of memorable scenes but my favorite was when Chen Qian Qian elected as the leader of rebel and she got drunk from celebratory feast and Han Shuo came to save her and...well it's so dang adorable and funny. I want to have best bud like Zi Rui or even Bai Ji that would fill the days with laughter. Although it wasn't a happy ending in the other dimension but a happy one in modern life. I definitely want season 2 and hope it will be the same main leads. Was this review helpful to you?
Rom-com @ it's finest’
Hello.I finally decided to watch this drama! One reason I had the chance is because of a TikTok video. It appeared again! It was when she was drunk and was like who's this handsome guy? I'd like to be his wife, and her assistant guy was like it is your husband. She was cute and the guy Aswell Aarhghhhhh. After liking that video after numerous swipes more videos are being shown and I could not resist the cute moments they have!
Omg! I wasn't even halfway and the jealousy moment was outstanding! I'm a big fan of Zhao Lusi and her acting is just a phenomenon! The guy also attracted ME! Putanginaaa Ang GWAPO🤣❤️
Anyways, I love the plot. How she's a scriptwriter and went into her storyline. I love the cast! The two guys who always stay on the main characters. They are cute.
I was literally fangirling from ep 1 til like 20. I'm like the type of person who needs to binge if I stop I'll get lazy and move to another drama so I NEED TO binge. I literally watched half of the season in one day on my day off instead of going out LOL.
“Just like a stamp and ink pad. A stamp without an ink pad is just a piece of useless rock. An ink pad without a stamp is just a regular paint. They are similar to you and me. We will never be separated.” (Han Shuo. )(Ep17: 22:41) 8/15/23 7:42pm
Any how's. This drama was worth watching. The ending was good as well. I wish for more explanation but at least the ending was. Acceptable. Haha.
I'm thankful I got the opportunity to watch this.
Im
Proud of the actors and actresses. Regardless of being released in 2020, I'm thankful I still watched it. I haven't even finished HIDDEN LOVE yet. Arghghh. Currently moving back to drama- my lovely Liar.
I need to transfer languages per drama as countries have their own way of performing their dramas and such haha.

One of THE Best C-Dramas!!
I have never written a review for any TV show before but after watching this show I am compelled to! This is one of The best C-dramas I have seen to date, good story, acting & the comic scenes are really funny. Also this is one of the shortest c-drams with just 24 ep vs 40+ plus thats the norm. Well worth watching again. Great job done specially by Ding Yu Xi!I have never written a review for any TV show before but after watching this show I am compelled to! One of the best Chinese drama I’ve ever watched. Oh my God, I can’t move on. This drama is so good.I love the storyyyy! It’s something new and so funny!! I always laughing so hard when watching this drama, every episode. The plot is unique and the characters are so good. The female lead is so funny, cute, and she can play the character very well. I love the chemistry between Chen Qianqian and Han Shuo. Oh dear, it’s so good! Great, cute, and romantic couple. I love them so much. I can’t stop watching this drama since the episode 1, so addicting.
The other characters are also great. Every character has strong role in this drama and make the story more awesome. At first I thought this drama will be a serious historical drama but it turned out so funny and entertaining. I can’t count how many I said how funny this drama is lol.
I love the end of this drama, realistic and back to modern time. Even though the scriptwriter and the actor have same dream 🤣🤣🤣
Every cast plays so great and make this drama so entertaining. Really well done.

FUNNY EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH!
Zhao Lu Si (female lead) is very funny. I just love her acting this type of character so definitely you'll enjoy the comedy. To my surprise Ding Yu Xi (male lead) is funny too. I wasn't expecting very much so I thought maybe it's one of those cool cold male lead the usual stuff. But his character was fun too so that's a plus. I also like how you can say the villain character not sure if you can call the character villain but yeah. The troublesome character isn't so annoying like the other shows. I think it's just right. Most of the time I get overly frustrated by the villains and it's just too over the top triggering annoying but I'm happy with how this show has it.
I think the concept of characters entering their own story, into another dimension or worlds is so common but I definitely think this is one of the best show in that category.
I think the length of the show is just right. Most shows are just way too long but this show I wish it was longer but it's just right. There will also be a 2nd season which is already confirmed to have the same cast. I don't have high hopes for 2nd season because usually 2nd season always sucks but fingers cross!!!!

Ridiculous, silly, and an utterly enjoyable watch!
I started the series without looking up anything about it – I just know it’s a Ding Yuxi romcom with Zhao Lusi as the FL, so I was sold immediately.Watching the first few episodes made me feel like the entire thing (plot, story, characters) is an irony of some sort. Like it was poking fun at something, but I couldn’t put my finger on what it is exactly.
So, I went back to MDL to check and was able to confirm that the series is actually a satire, and there is a whole interview detailing what the message it is trying to convey.
Now, I just know that it intends to, or in some way, critic the current state of dramas, but I haven’t been able to check the interview as I want to interpret the series based on my impressions. Partly, I was also trying to avoid spoilers but mainly, I just wanted to enjoy the series as is. And boy, I did have fun!
As a satire, it implies that there are subtexts that needs to be understood, and points that need to be seen. However, I didn’t want to tiptoe around those to avoid affecting my experience.
And so, I didn’t take the series seriously, but in a good way. Since I kind of know the intention of the series, I was able to suspend disbelief and let the story flow on its own. I had fun and a good laugh in every episode, and the series did not fail to send out butterflies to my stomach.
What I adore is how neatly the story concluded, which is ironically, something that a lot of dramas fail to do.
Regardless of how one process the drama though, it would fare well both ways. If one will view this as a commentary, then it is pretty well done as it literally pokes fun at the ironies and every trope there is in a drama.
If one chooses this as something to pass time, it is still a good choice, as it gives a good level of entertainment and a good dose of romance. Most importantly, it has a highly satisfying ending!

Hillariously Sweet Romance
This is by far the best Cdrama I've watched and the only one I've rated 10/10 so far. I'm not saying it was perfect, the ending should have definitely been longer. Other then that, the drama was essentially PERFECT and had a satisfying ending. The drama was very consistent throughout. I was afraid that the comedy aspect would go down or completely go away as many Chinese, especially Chinese historical dramas tend to do. But it didn't. And the comedy was the BEST part of this drama, especially with the main leads and their servants/guards. No matter what the situation is, and no matter how serious the character may be (especially the ML), there is always some comedy. Not some cringeworthy jokes, but some genuinely stupid (or even serious) actions or over the top reactions that just really get to you. The misunderstandings were usually hilarious, it didn't usually lead to drama, it just led to some strange situations. And even when there is drama or some argument between the main leads, I wouldn't say it was serious because the retaliation always lead to hilariously embarrassing situations.
This is the one Cdrama (even Kdrama) were I didn't feel ANY second hand embarrassment at all. I hate the feeling of second hand embarrassment, but there wasn't any. The comedy was so well executed that you would not feel embarrassed for the characters, you'd just laugh along with everything.
One thing I loved about the FL is that she didn't straight up fall in love with the ML and forget that she's in a screenplay she wrote and is dreaming about. She, no matter what, never forget where she was and who she is (or is playing). I love that misunderstandings lead to the ML actually falling for the FL. Her actions of trying to save herself from the early death she wrote for her character lead to the ML slowly falling for her after he believes she has a crush on him.
I liked the pace of the story (just not the quick ending), and I loved how the FL slowly realises she actually likes ML. The story would have had to been a lot shorter if this took less time, either that, or their would have needed to be drama to separate the FL and ML.
This was a really good historical Chinese drama where I loved almost all the characters. The parents are surprisingly some of my favourite charecters, which is surprising for a historical Cdrama, but if just made it so much better, and I really LOVED the eldest sister, the two servants and the FL's mother was EVERYTHING.
Also (spoiler): Loved the Mulan reference. Love that Mulan is the ML's mother, making the whole concept of his Patriarchal city really ironic because his mother is the biggest badass of both city's.

A love story with one of the sweetest endings I've ever seen.
A love story with a lot of misunderstandings, but with one of the cutest endings I've ever seen. Zhao Lu Si brought out the maximum of her character. Quian Quian is often annoying and, in fact, she has mostly self-inflicted problems, because she wants to stick to the original story, but overall, she's a very lovable character.Ding Yu Xi's acting talent is incredible. perfectly personifies the jealous, super-cute husband and the uncontroversial leader. I can’t think of an actor in this drama who didn’t get the maximum out of his character.
But it's also true that this is the first drama where I was most concerned about a third-rate character, Su Mu's fate. Quan Pei Lun's performance touched me the most, as he does not feel worthy of love, but in the end, he finds enough strength and confidence to accept it, and be with the one he loves. Su Mu and the first lady has the most beautiful love in this whole story.
