When the Weather Is Fine

날씨가 좋으면 찾아가겠어요 ‧ Drama ‧ 2020
- slow paced, feel-good, healing
- slice of life type of vibe
- both are character driven series focused on journey of self discovery

Both dramas focus on quiet, introspective characters who fall in love while trying to rebuild themselves. They offer slow-burning emotional intimacy rather than dramatic conflict. If you enjoyed the soft healing vibe, meaningful silences, and understated romance of When the Weather Is Fine, Encounter will feel like another gentle, soul-soothing watch with beautiful visuals and heartfelt conversations.

Both are slow paced, and highlight the seemingly insignificant aspects of life. While Live looks out over the organization of the Korean police force as a whole, from the perspective of a handful of individuals, WTWIF is more focused inward on the personal narrative of its main leads. The genres/subjects are quite different, but the styles are similar, giving that true-to-life indie vibe.

If When the Weather is Fine wrapped you in quiet ache and forgiveness, Winter Night offers an even starker kind of winter:
a story about missed moments, what might have been, and the soft, unbearable beauty of being known — even if only for a while.

When I was watching When the Weather Is Fine, the short movie Control Tower came to mind. Both the drama and the movie have a winter setting and a depressing yet calm vibe to them. The music theme is present in both, although it has less of an importance in When the Weather Is Fine compared to Control Tower, where music is of big importance in the story. In both the drama and the movie we see our female leads transfer to a school in a smaller village. Slow burn romance are present in both, although it's more subtle in Control Tower. The traveling back to the city towards the end is also included in both. Although the movie doesn't carry as heavy burdens as the drama does, the vibe is very similar. I feel like both shows are good to watch on a day when you're feeling a bit down.

I find the dramas to have a similar vibe. If you haven’t check out the other you should do so.

So far the similarities are:

- Snow setting
-Slow burn romance
-Calm leads
- Slow paced drama
-Winter setting

Both are pretty different dramas in terms of plot and tone, but if you like the trope of the ML appearing quite cold/indifferent towards the FL at first but inwardly liking her the entire time & struggling to show those emotions over time, you will like either drama.

Both Run On and When the Weather is Fine have a similar laid back vibe with leads that are interesting, well-written and relatable. The secondary characters in WTWIF also make you root for them and add depth to the story.

Both these dramas have the same feel. The story telling is similar with calm peaceful almost naive leads

These are two dramas by the same director! Slow moving, moody, sometimes funny, sometimes sad but always optimistic in showing people dealing with heavy burdens of life. The actors are extraordinary!

Both shows have the same beautiful cinematography and relaxed, meditative pacing and calming vibe. Both have excellent acting from the leads and beautiful OSTs. Both are perfect for cuddling up in winter with a warm blanket and watching with a cup of coffee.

A story about forgiveness, healing, and love taking place around a small bookstore in the countryside. Hae Won is an ordinary woman with good character. She has played the cello since she was a child. Hae Won began her social life with her ability to play the cello, but during that time, she was hurt emotionally by others. Due to that, Hae Won does not trust people, and she has closed her heart to others. Hae Won becomes sick and tired of her life in Seoul and decides to move back to her hometown Bookhyun Village. There, Hae Won meets Eun Seob, who runs a bookshop named "Goodnight Bookstore." Eun Seob's daily life is simple; wake up, drink coffee, read a book, and write on his blog. However, Eun Seob's daily life begins to change after he meets Hae Won.
