General Chu and Shen Jin return to the capital with Xiu Yuan and Rou Rou. Duke Rui receives news that General Chu is returning as a criminal. Bai Zi Tou thinks Xiao Cong misses Shen Jin and tries to comfort her. He still assumes that Xiao Cong likes him. General Chu faces the Emperor. Lord Liu lists out his crime of pocketing the military pay and inflating his troop numbers. General Chu clarifies that the pay is too little for the soldiers to support themselves. Hence, he inflates the numbers to get more money for the soldiers and gives everything back to them in the name of the Emperor. The soldiers would then be willing to protect the country. The Emperor agrees with what General Chu has done and he will investigate the soldiers’ pay issue. He also promotes General Chu to become the General of Swift Calvary. Shen Jin arrives back at Duke Rui’s mansion to see her mother. Her step-sisters bully her again. They get her to sweep the yard and prepare dinner for their father. Shen Jin cleverly prepares skewers which impresses Duke Rui as it is something new. Her step-sisters are angry that their plan to create trouble for Shen Jin didn’t work. They then claim that her meat has caused them stomachache and force Shen Jin to eat rotten meat in return. But General Chu turns up then and puts them in their place. Shen Zi wants revenge when their eldest sister returns for their father’s birthday. Duke Rui is happy to have General Chu as his son-in-law.
