General's Lady Episode 17

During Duke Rui’s birthday meal, Shen Zi tries to use a painting to embarrass General Chu and Shen Jin. Shen Zi thinks that General Chu is illiterate. But he turns the tables on her by proving that the painting is a fake. Shen Zi is the one who is embarrassed instead. She then instigates her father’s new concubine, Lady Bai, to make things hard for Shen Jin. Shen Jin doesn’t have a good impression of Lady Bai who has no respect for her mother. Although Shen Jin is tired of all the schemings, she intends to stay at Duke Rui’s mansion as she is afraid that her mother will be bullied. General Chu assures her of his love and support. Lady Bai sends her maid over with some desserts. The maid insists that Shen Jin should have a taste as instructed. Shen Jin is furious and refuses. General Chu appears and takes a bite instead to send the maid away. He speculates that either Lady Bai wants her friendship or she is showing who is the boss in the mansion. He advises Shen Jin not to be angry as these are not the work of smart people. Shen Jin is again bullied by her half-sisters when choosing fabric for their dresses. General Chu calms her down and brings her shopping instead. Shen Jin notices Lady Bai entering an inn. They choose a fur scarf for her eldest half-sister, Shen Shu, who doesn’t seem happy. Shen Shu is secretly having problems with her husband. When Shen Jin visits her, a doctor happens to be there for her treatment. Shen Shu asks the doctor to check out Shen Jin as well.
