General's Lady Episode 19

General Chu tries to get into the good books of Lord Situ. He gives him a set of pitch-pot arrows but still fails to earn his friendship when he defeats him in every round during a game. Shen Jin advises General Chu to lose the next time they play. This time, General Chu intentionally loses every round. Shen Jin is exasperated as that would be too obvious to Lord Situ. So, she follows General Chu on his next visit and impresses Lord Situ who acknowledges her as his sister. She also notices the entrance to a secret chamber in Lord Situ’s residence. Shen Jin is worried that General Chu’s salary would not be able to support their lifestyle in the capital. She plans to open a fabric shop in the city to supplement their income and General Chu is supportive of her decision. Shen Jin becomes too busy with the store opening that she has little time for General Chu. She also doesn’t want him to come to the store often to prevent others from knowing that he is related to the business. The Emperor tells Lord Situ and General Chu that he is glad to have them as his assistants. He delegates the military pay issue to Lord Situ to handle. General Chu finds out from his father’s ex-subordinates that his father had met with the Emperor prior to the 8th Prince’s death. Shen Shu relates to Shen Jin that she has had a miscarriage because her husband’s concubine, Yun’niang, had poisoned her. Yun’niang is now expecting and Shen Shu is afraid of her future as she is not favored by her husband, Marquis Wang, anymore.
