Trope-y, but with a lot of heart

The biggest thing I appreciated about this drama was how it showed there are no bad people in the world; there are only hurt people. The most meaningful takeaway for me was this: as long as you treat people with kindness, love, and sincerity, you will receive it in return. If this drama were only about that, I'd easily give it a 10. Ironically, I feel like it's the romance that dulls its shine.

Look, I don't mind trope-y tropes once in a while, but the ML just felt so wooden to me. All he does 90% of the time is give squinty, smoldering looks, brood, and fling insults. I know it's supposed to be his "personality", but the delivery didn't land for me either. However, I did love the couple's cute moments, and I think the ML did well for the more emotional bits.

Romance aside, I found the supporting cast endearing, and the hospital plotlines heart-warming and tear-jerking. There were also many funny bits that gave me a good laugh. I would've liked a more realistic romance, but at the core of this drama beats a strong heart full of love for humanity and I love it for that.

I was never a fan of j-dramas since I had never really given it a chance and honestly, I always thought j-dramas have such bad acting however watching this drama gave me a new light on the j-drama world.

This drama has literally everything I can ask for in a basic drama. Cute fluff scenes, hard-hitting crying moments, and moments you just want to pull your hair out because of 2nd hand embarrassment. First of all the storyline is perfect for a basic cute drama. It doesn't involve too many problems which I enjoy and the 2nd leads don't involve themselves in the main lead's life as much as I thought they would (which is a good thing for me). I read the shojo manga before I stumbled upon the drama so I didn't have high expectations but after watching

The acting was good and think they chose great actors and actresses while bassing it off the manga. All the character's troubles made me sympathize with each and every one of them. Not to mention I think I've fallen for Sato. He played the role too well.

Although this is a medical drama it's not very accurate but I don't really mind as much cause I went into this drama for the romance.

If you want to start a Japanese drama I think this is probably the best one especially if you're into more romance and fluff stuff.

Somebody in Hollywood Hire Satoh, Already!

"An Incurable Case of Love" owes much to Satoh Takeru's stellar performance as a surgeon; his magnetic presence, depth and charisma carries the series. It's a fun series when you need to pass time, relax and switch off your brain.
As one of Japan's most acclaimed actors, Satoh Takeru is known for his meticulous selection of roles — he established his own talent agency — and all of his performances are compelling. It is always astonishing to remember that Satoh is only 35 years old, has been acting 18 years, and is already considered a craftsman in his field. He is actually quite an engaging and amusing personality; he regularly appears on his Youtube in absolutely hilarious content and very sarcastic commentary. His "2023 Awards" video, where he decides best movie, music, etc, had me laughing till my cheeks hurt!
A good actor can elevate a lacklustre production Here, Satoh's surgeon is characterised by a stoic demeanor and minimal dialogue and his harsh exterior masks deep repressed emotion. There is also undeniable sex appeal that adds intrigue to an otherwise thin narrative. Viewers are encouraged to overlook plot stretches, age differences and unrealistic workplace behaviours. Skip the first 4 episodes if you're impatient.
We sincerely hope Satoh achieves global recognition and roles of greater depth that further showcase his complex appeal and acting prowess. And surely that's not far off: on Youtube in early 2024, he mentioned that he had met with a leading Hollywood talent agency in late 2023.

This was AMAZING

Honestly one of the most enjoyable dramas I've watched in a longggg time. It kept my interest and the chemistry between the leads was chefs kiss. Would recommend to all and I know this may be a reach for some people but I found this to be up there with strong woman do bong soon. It had a similar vibe and ugh just so flippin briliant. I especially loved the hero skit which was actually funny and the love triangle was bearable. the side stories were engaging and although it may not be super intense like other medical dramas, it seemed to fit in with the light hearted feel of the show. I was also happy to find that it wasn't fixated on how helpless the female lead was, but instead focused on how she would better herself for herself and how that developed over time.

Clichés all over but who cares

wedding without parents and her family 🤷
She is in a coma for 3 days but her parents are not in the hospital 🤷🤷
She got stalked, in a car accident, and most of clichés
Even if those things bothered I couldn't help but loved it, that scene from ep 1 where Anri Chan wants to end her life because her sickness is getting her parents pay money for operations and hospital, she made me think about some mistakes parents do, only seeing their part of pain, forgetting that their child is in pain too, Sakura Chan, was the main character of the drama, she was certainly a Baka 😂 but really adorable, full of positive energy, the actress looked like a mix of Yoon Eun Hye and Park Shin hye,
Thank you little drama, binge watched in two days though I was in a drama slump.

High School Manga Tropes in Hospital Setting

This show was a little too syrupy for my taste. I really thought I was watching a high school manga made into a TV series. The way Sakura was portrayed reminded me of every romance manga I ever read as a youngster. The character cliches were rampant in this --the silly, love-sick girl goes after the unreachable, iceberg guy, the bumbling supporting characters who befriend the main leads, as well as the benign jealous ex, competing for the ML's attention. I have seen this so many times over and over, and over again. The only disturbing difference is that here the high school drama is taking place in a hospital setting among grown men and women.

Our FL is the sweet girl cliche. She looks like a high school kid, acts like a high school kid, and when she acts extra goofy, reminds me of a deranged Easter bunny. She even has two extra long front teeth to boot! You can't help but love her and she tries really hard to make it so! Sakura is skillfully played by Mone Kamishiraishi.

Sakura meets Dr. Tendo in a street as a school girl and is so taken with him, that she decides right then and there to meet him again someday. This sets the course of her career path. It's kind of stalkerish behavior, but no one thinks it's weird and even encourage her to keep going after her childhood crush.

The only person not thrilled about this is Dr Tendo himself, played by the handsome Takeru Satoh, and our iceberg ML cliche. He doesn't have time for her nonsense and warns her off from the get-go. Here's the thing: there is no chemistry between these two. Never do I get the sense that Tendo even likes Sakura. I never believed in the romance between them for a moment because our ML doesn't have any internal monologue. He is a monotone, boring, wet blanket. Now, one might say that this is the point because Sakura is supposed to bring him out of his shell, but I never really see this happen until the last episode. It should be a subtle progression but he is so annoyed by her, nicknaming her "dimwit", that I asked myself why she even bothers. There were times when Takeru looked so bored, and annoyed, and like he hated every minute playing this role. I can't say I blame him. I would have enjoyed the drama as more a natural progression between grownups than the juvenile drama they actually went with. I think Takeru Satoh is miscast in this. He looks too serious and grown up to be doing these juvenile roles. At age 30, it's too much of a stretch.

Fell in Love with Dr. Tendo

I got into this j-drama without knowing it was a manga series. It was a first time in years I've watched a j-drama, and this one gave a lot of classic 90s j-drama feel, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

At first, I wasn't convinced about the chemistry between the main characters, Dr. Tendo and Sakura, but eventually did with the character development. I loved them together! I was most impressed by Satoh Takeru's acting in this...He played serious and sarcastic and loving so well. I really enjoyed his performance the most.

The story here also clenches you, making you wonder what will happen next. It kept me guessing what was going to happen, which made this a fun series to watch. Definitely a worthwhile drama series to check out. I want to get the actual manga now, too!

The word idiot never sounded so adorable

The leads are so cute i keep going back to this drama when finding myself in drama slouch. No one can criticize this drama to me. I like the type of stories that are creative, with characters full of charm to carry the story. Sakura, the leading character has a contagious big smile backed up by a big heart to support her career as a nurse. Tendo, the male doctor character is cold, to the point, never smiles, yet totally smitten by the baka (idiot) nurse who is Sakura. The development of their story from beginning is one of those, one in a million likely to happen, that is just too adorable from the stance that it probably wouldn’t happen in real life. That’s its appeal to me. When taken out of scope of reality, it’s a treat. Now and then fantasy based reality is welcoming. These two have such an appeal to their relationship, not so much enemy to lover, but happenstance? When he calls her baka and she lights up, it’s because she’s accustomed to it as being his language of approval. They are just too cute not to adore. Aside from that, there’s lots of substance to take away as well. It’s truly an incurable case of love.

This made my favs list

This is one of those dramas where u think it wont be that good, but then the more you watch it the more hooked you get.
The fact that the main lead has character development and skills too is perfect, this is not one of those where the FM will simply be a pick me and annoy you through the whole thing.
This is a series about someone that experienced first loved and fought very hard for it, in return also finding herself and something she likes in the middle of it.
Deffo a must watch if u like something that will warm you up.
The ML took a few episodes to warm up to, but I mean it does makes sense on why he is so cold in the beginning.
Love Love Love this and deffo recommend.
I have rewatched it twice now and still love it.

So cute!

Omg! I loved watching this drama, it's a hidden gem. Sakura is such a sweet and couragous person, and her perseverance is really admirable. I am happy they did not portray her as the damsel in distress, useless female lead who just wants to run after a guy, but instead apart from having fallen in love with Tendo, she also wants to become an excellent nurse. There were no dumb misunderstandings and no scheeming by jealous side characters.. The relationships were really nice and there was no character that I did not like in particularly. The acting was also good and not cringy. This is an ideal series for people who need a light and fun watch!
