BEST XIANXIA EVER ?

This has to be the best xianxia drama that I’ve ever watched. I started watching it because I liked Oliver Chen since fall in love. Since episode one I was hooked. This drama is BRILLIANT and so well written. There are so many incredible dialogues during the 40 episodes and I share many of them here. I was truly amazed by so many characters here, specially Ye Tan and Youqin.
Youqin will be one of the characters that I will remember forever. He was so cold and distant at the beginning, but since Ye Tan came into his life, he changed completely. He became another completely different person, full of warm and compassion. His love for her was out of this world and hers too. This couple has to be one of my favorite ones.
Another great aspect of this drama was that the humor, so many hilarious scenes throughout the whole drama.
Thank you so much for giving us the chance of watching this GEM. I enjoyed the ride except for the ending.
This drama made us laugh, cried and create in us so many different emotions during each episode.
Congratulations to all the amazing cast members, producers, and each person that made part of this MASTERPIECE!!! I will really miss it.

I really loved this drama. The visuals and fantasy were all great. The storyline was awesome except for that last episode, I mean it was good don’t get me wrong but the ending ended like there was going to be a good ending but then in the last 10 seconds of the episode it didn’t seem like an ending. It just left you hanging. I went on the web and found there were supposed to be extra episodes 41 and 42 but that never happened so I was upset. I’m not trying for anyone to stop watching this drama it is excellent and I was satisfied all the way until the last 10 seconds. You will have to watch it to understand what I mean but please don’t skip all the episodes to watch the last 10 seconds or you will miss an excellent drama.

Chen Xing Xu was so darn good as the Empyrean Xuan Shang, I don’t know how else to describe him. I love this actor. I almost didn’t recognize who he was until the 2nd episode. To change into 3 different types of personalities and play his original character of a total of 4 personalities was crazy excellent. I fell in love with the Fire character. Lol. Landy Li (Li Guang Ye Tan), her playing this role, and I want to see more of her. This is my second time watching her and really didn’t get her in the first drama. The way she played her character was really good. A lot of emotions I felt. Luke Chen (Chao Feng) and He Xuan Lin (Li Guang Qing Kui), these two, wow, were great, Luke Chen is very handsome and He Xuan Lin she played that very nice and mannered character, she was lovely.

The visuals, fantasy, costumes, graphics, animations, and music are excellent. I thank all the actors and actresses who also played great, I applaud them. Thanking all of the team that made this drama a success for me.

Seven is standard for me

+1 Strong Female Lead - her character development was done well. It wasn't great and amazing for me but I appreciate the journey she went through to achieve where she is now.
+1 Costumes - just the right amount of attention, could've used more
+1 Aesthetics & Scenery
+1 Boss OST Artists - Liu Yu Ning, Sa Da Ding, Mao Bu Yi - If you have these big hit artists in your soundtrack, you're an automatic big hit drama or at least more likely. However, the music didn't stand out a whole lot but after re-listening and learning who the artists were, it did change my initial impression
+1 CGI was not horrible, it was done much better than other dramas, I'm just kind of tired characters standing and reaching out their palms with CGI powers flowing against each other for 3 minutes lol
+1 Dialogue - was always pretty lengthy but you can tell the script was very heart felt every time it was read
+1 Tragedy - I'm a sucker for tragedy because it's the most heart felt trigger, if it can make me cry then it means it truly left an impression on me. Even though the ending was optimistic, death and sacrifice truly makes life more valuable and matter.

-1 Male lead - I expected just a tad more from the lead, his voice was extremely low and did not suit a warm character. I like his more as a cold character
-1 Supporting cast - they weren't bad but they weren't great either. Sometimes supporting cast really makes or breaks a story. If the supporting cast doesn't make the audience care and root for them then they're really just meaningless side characters until they die then they're maybe a little more valued but quickly forgotten in the entire story.
-1 Storyline wasn't that strong and the title of the series only references to one scene in the entire series. Which was an extremely meaningful scene but it did not capture the rest of the series.

My original rating was a 6.5 which is considered average for me. But I decided to give it a 7 - a standard decent drama since there were several different factors into the production of the drama that were quality level. But the biggest area that I rate a drama on is the chemistry between the two leads and the overall storyline with how well CGI went with it.

I couldn't give it an 8 which is a satisfactory score for me
9 being above expectations
10 being completely blown away

A beautiful story with character growth

A beautiful love story that evolves with the characters. Every actors and actresses amazed me with their beautiful acting. Of course, Ml and Fl come from an acting school which make them so professional at conveying complicated feelings that idol actors cannot.
Beautiful ost. I am in love with the with Dingding and Mao. They poured in every last emotions into the songs and took us in a rollercoaster of emotions as we listened to the songs.
Although this drama cannot beat AOL but it has a special place in my heart.

Heroes or villains—fate forges, we label. Die with virtue, or live with cruelty

"Time cooks all beings, and Time itself consumes them.
Time creates all, and Time destroys all.
All are helpless before Time."

⚠️ Spoiler
This isn’t a review about why you should watch the drama. It’s an outpouring of the emotions, questions, and chaos that flooded my heart while watching.

🌸 First Impressions
I was never really a fan of xianxia dramas—rebirth, realms, immortal beasts, all that complicated mythology—but fellow MDLers dragged me into this one. At first, I thought it’d be another ordinary love story. Honestly, the twin-sisters plotline scared me most—because what I hate the most is sibling enmity. But this drama surprised me. Instead of rivalry, it gave me one of the most reassuring portrayals of sibling love.

👭 Sisterhood
The growth of the two sisters was beautiful. Tan’er took the path of revenge, but what stood out most was how much the drama glorified family love over romance. I was glad the narrative gave weight to her pain. Their bond shone through everything. I understood Kuier as well deeply—if I had to choose, I too would sacrifice myself for my sister.

🤝 Brotherhood
I also loved the dynamic between Wu Dai and Chaofeng. I longed for them to be brothers in heart, not just in name—and in the end, that wish came true, especially in that tender moment when Wu Dai said, “Come into my arms and cry.” hahah cute.

Everyone kinda grew up.. Qinsheng also became later mature to share the burden of his elder brother. Ziwu.. Taner everyone

💔 Human Emotions
This drama wasn’t just about gods, realms, or war—it was about the most beautiful things in the world - human emotions: love, friendship, loss. Man Man, Di Lan Jue, Tan’er… their bond was so pure. Man Man especially—I wish she hadn’t died.

🕊️ Kuier’s Path
With Kuier, I had a bad feeling from the start—that she might sacrifice herself someday. I comforted myself by thinking, at least she lived her short 18 years surrounded by her parents’ love, and the world love.. was in the spotlight for her life. Maybe it was taner's time? the emperor to shower all his love on his younger daughter who was neglected for so long. It was a fragile kind of comfort, but it was all I had in that episode.

🌪️ The Final Episodes
By the final episodes, I was crying uncontrollably. The OST, the chaos of the four realms, the storm of my own emotions—all of it collided. I was left with a whirlpool of questions:

❓ Questions on Grief & Revenge
I couldn’t help but wonder: if Tan’er had lost everyone she loved, just as Husui did, would she have been able to keep control? Would she have resisted killing the Heavenly Emperor? She already lost control in her fury against the Void Tyrant. But then again, maybe time is the only medicine—anger and grief might burn bright in the moment, but with time, reason slowly returns, dulling the pain.

And still, I don’t think Husui was truly to blame. Who could remain rational when confronted with such cruelty? Would any of us? Yet that leads to an even harder question: what becomes of a world that answers revenge with more revenge? The cycle never ends. Cruelty breeds injustice, injustice breeds retaliation, retaliation creates new wounds. Even if you kill the perpetrator, their family, grieving and enraged, may rise against you in turn. It’s a vicious cycle—when does it stop?

Tan’er’s pursuit of vengeance harmed the Void Army. But if she hadn’t sought revenge at all, if she had silently endured injustice, would that have been right either? Where exactly do we draw the line?

⚖️ Repentance & Humanity
And what of repentance? If it is enough, then where do we set the limit? How much can truly be forgiven? Human life, brief as it is, feels so remarkable because of our fragile, fickle minds. We forget, we fall in and out of love, we break, we heal, we repent, we change. The very ability to change is what defines humanity. But can even a lifetime of repentance make up for certain crimes? What if the sin was so great that no measure of time could balance it? What if the entire world was guilty? If a criminal deserves execution, then would a world of criminals deserve to be erased? Does being the majority make them innocent?

And yet—even if you killed everyone, what would it matter to the universe? Nothing. The lives of humans, of all living beings, are specks of dust against the silence of eternity.

🌌 What Is “Right”?
So what, then, is truly important? What is “right”? It depends on perspective. To a scholar studying the cosmos, human struggles might seem trivial. But to someone battling through daily suffering, those same struggles are everything. Love may be meaningless to one person, yet be another person’s entire reason to live.

Tan’er’s journey reflected this. She began as someone shaped by cruelty, hurt until she became a misanthrope, wanting to conquer and destroy as the Devil of the Void. But through love—through a handful of people she treasured—she changed. She learned to protect rather than destroy. She saw Youqin fighting for the world and chose sacrifice over hatred. That painful journey was what made her strong enough to one day save the world that had never believed in her.

🔮 Duty & Dilemmas
And still, the questions remain. When Husui manipulated the twin sisters into bringing chaos, I couldn’t help but think—weren’t the Void Tyrant and Heavenly Emperor right in their fears? Even if the sisters didn’t want to destroy the world, couldn’t someone force them to? So what is the right choice? To kill one innocent and save millions? Or to hesitate, spare them, and risk the destruction of everything? Were the emperors truly wrong to act out of duty? Or is “duty” itself just a concept, defined conveniently to justify choices?

🩸 The Core Question
In the end, law and morality, reason and emotion—none of them ever perfectly align. Reality and ideals almost never match. So we’re left with the cruel question: is it better to die clinging to morality, or live stained by cruelty?
Fate forces people to pick up weapons—and then we, in our convenience, decide whether to call them heroes or villains.

"Drawn swords shine like frost in the autumn moon;
Once loosed, they cannot return to the scabbard."- Li Bai

: Once someone takes up a weapon, there’s no turning back—fate drives the outcome. Society then decides whether they’re remembered as saviors or destroyers.

🌑 Chaos & Humanity
It even made me ask: Isn’t sealing chaos merely delaying the problem? What if chaos were allowed to swallow the world—what new world would emerge from it?

I mean—how can we, small and fragile humans living less than a century, even attempt to answer such questions? When faced with emotions this complicated and dilemmas this vast, are we even capable of grasping them fully? Sometimes I wonder if it would be better to strip it all down, to simplify, to live with a mindset like Wu Dai’s—straightforward, unburdened, free from endless overthinking.

But as humans, we don’t get that luxury. We’re bound to our struggles, our conflicts, our mortality. Our challenges force us to question, to complicate, to wrestle with things bigger than ourselves. Maybe that’s what it means to be human—that we cannot help but seek meaning, even in the chaos.

🎶 Final Thoughts
This drama didn’t just tell a story. It probes into you a lot of questions. The best part, and reason why I stayed was the comedy 50% and OST 50%. But the story… it made me wrestle with questions no human life—spanning less than a century—can fully answer. But maybe that’s the point: to keep asking, to keep doubting, to keep feeling.
Whatever genre you are a fan of .. Give it a try, you wouldn't regret your time.

Forbidden love, strong-willed characters, amazing sisterly bond, what more can you ask for?

The Starry Love was a phenomenal xianxia with multiple twists and turns. The cherry on top is the strong sisterly bond between Qingkui and Yetan. Even if the world turned against them, they still have each other's back.

I went into his drama not knowing whether it will be this amazing because I had watched the main leads only once before - wasn't a huge fan of Landi's acting before but I must say she has improved a lot in The Starry Love! it was a huge rollercoaster of emotions honestly. Prepare your issues, prepare to laugh your ass off, enjoy the bond between the characters, and you might also want to stab some characters along the way.

The story revolves around fraternal twin sisters, the older twin Liguang Qingkui and the young twin, Liguang Yetan.
I don't want to spoil much, but do pay attention to the first few minutes of the first episode. It is very imperative to the last arc of the drama.
Liguang Yetan is a very outspoken, domineering female lead. She is also an aspiring Void Queen and ruler of the four realms. Or so we thought..
Yetan's (played by Landi) character development over the course of the drama has been poignant to watch. She went from being arrogant, and indifferent to others other than her sister and her childhood friends, to extremely caring and kind to those around her. I believe this is the influence of not only her sister but her love for Youqin. She grew up treated like a pariah, jinx, and evil being because of the royal officials' influence on her father due to the state world during her birth. Her father was always absent and indifferent towards her and it affected her personality greatly. Without her sister, she wouldn't even know how to care at all, but she truly cares for her sister and that's what I love about this drama. Typically dramas don't allow sisters to care about one another even if one screws up, but this shows unconditional love through and through. Landi's acting has greatly improved in this drama, I had previously watched another historical drama of hers and she was extremely cringey to watch there. However, it felt natural here- especially her cries, and heartbreaks really hit me.

Qingkui (He Xuan Lin) is the most caring, kind, and selfless character you would encounter in this drama. She cares deeply for her younger sister, and while everyone else hated Yetan, she was there for her no matter what. She's essentially Yetan's pillar. She would share her hobbies, books, and gifts with Yetan, Protect her even if Yetan was wrong, she would stand by her sister no matter what - after reprimanding Yetan of course. You would think Qingkui is a doormat due to her selfless nature, however, she's able to stand on her own, she's caring, protective and intelligent. She is not a damsel-in-distress, she is also very strong-willed like her sister. Despite the mix-up of carriages, she made a place for herself in the void realm and found her one true love. Qingkui is the definition of unconditional love because even if one of her loved ones made a mistake, she will forgive them. She believes they can do better and that belief inspires them to be better people. The acting by Xuan Lin is very natural, I haven't watched any of her other dramas before so I don't have much to say but she acted well overall!

Shao Dian YouQin (Chen XIng Xu ) was Initially a stoic, socially anxious empyrean but grew to show more emotions and love after a very important event happened. He was raised somewhat similarly to Yetan because his father expects him to have no emotions to prevent any distractions from protecting the world and becoming the heavenly ruler in the future. He volunteered to isolate himself in order to train a perfect celestial body. In doing so, he would be able to protect the world against the chaos, Guixu. Youqin is another character who defines unconditional love, he does protect the world but he also wants to protect Yetan against the world. He showed empathy and care for Yetan and it was just so sweet to watch! Especially when he learned of her past, and took a small revenge behind her back. I had watched a drama by Chen Xing Xu before, and he did act well there and it was the same here. His acting is quite versatile, I quite enjoyed watching him act like a primitive human. It was adorable. haha

Chao Feng (Luke Chen) was also raised somewhat similarly to Yetan - he had no fatherly love, and was a pariah because of his birth mother. With that in mind, he is still the third prince but is treated less than a prince. He initially fought really hard for the crown just to get respect and better treatment from his clan. He would do anything to get the crown even if that means hiding his motives from Qingkui. He was the reason for the carriage switch-up because Yetan witnessed what he did before the day of the marriage. However, despite that, he found care and love from QIngkui and eventually learned to deviate from the crown and would prefer to settle down peacefully. It was a difficult task as someone is always on his ass, trying to assassinate him. He, like Youqin, would do anything to protect Qingkui even if it means defying his father. Chao Feng was definitely not a good character initially but his character development definitely redeemed him. I like that he and Youqin banter with one another like brothers. It's quite fun to watch opposite realms interact like family. I have not seen any of his other dramas but I think Luke Chen did pretty well here needless to say. Although, in terms of crying, or sadness - I feel like he was missing a bit of emotion honestly but other than that his acting was pretty good.

I think one of my favorite characters would be Man Man played by Wang Li Na, she's like the comedy relief in the drama, her expressions and sarcastic replies are hilarious. haha

How was the ending? It's a bittersweet ending. The last 10 episodes were a huge emotional ride, so prepare your tissues.

The Starry Love teaches you a myriad of things like don't judge someone by their appearance, don't judge people by their lack of education, and don't judge period. LOL, Another thing I learned is OPPOSITES ATTRACT IMMENSELY! Even if you don't have the same initial beliefs, there are some things you can compromise for the sake of love. You can also learn from one another despite different beliefs.
Again, I truly enjoyed watching this drama because of the comedy initially, the strong and unbreakable sisterly bond, the wonderful character developments, of course, the husbands' love and protectiveness for their wives. AND the friends and family who supported them, even the worse parent redeemed himself!

I would definitely recommend watching this if you like twists and turns, comedy, and historical fantasy dramas. There are definitely some characters that would pull your hair out, but other than that a phenomenal drama to watch!

Enjoyable

This was definitely one of the better dramas of this genre. I’m not going to say that this is the absolutely best thing I’ve watched this year, but it was good.

It had a great start and the 2nd main couple + 2nd ML and his subordinate are hilarious. I wish they showed more of it! My only complaint is that the 2nd ML started if so well but by the last few episodes he kinda of lost that intelligentlfun/unique part of his character.

The parts I f started to loose interest is around the time they were hunting for the shards- they spend waay to much time on it. Instead I wish they had spend more time on the 2nd main couple.

The sets, costumes and effects were so pretty!

Excellent on many evels

The comedic levels this xianxia provides is what makes it stand out from the others. The chemistry between the leads/supporting actors is amazing. Acting wise the young actors killed it, and i loved that almost all of them used their own voice. Chen Xingxu showed his diverse acting skills with 5 different characters, it was like watching a different person each time.
Storyline wise, although there is romance, i personally love the sisterhood and friendships more than anything else. It just tugs on my heart strings to see how much the sisters love and support one another with not an ounce of jealousy. This is my first time seeing all the actors and i really enjoyed it. He Xuanlin has the most beautiful voice too.

Two sisters. Two husbands. Their fates intertwined.

This is the first cdrama I've watched and I specifically made an account here to express my love for this show. It's actually an obsession right now and I have serious withdrawals. There was something so exciting watching this on release days as I would wake up every morning and smile knowing I'll watch a new episode of this drama. I don't know what to do with my life now that it's over.

This drama has truly everything - love, friendship, family (sister's love), action, magic, amazing costumes. I truly fell in love with the sister's story, cinematography, music and acting. Everything is so well done and balanced. One minute I would laugh like crazy and the next I would cry my eyes out.

I have to admit that the second lead couple stole my heart (mostly Chaofeng) and they are the main reason I started to watch this drama. If you love an innocent girl and a mortally grey (bad boy with a good heart) type of vibe relationship - you will enjoy this drama so much. Having said that, the first lead couple also has great moments and I very much enjoyed seeing the development of their relationship + honestly all and I mean all the side characters and couple are amazing in this drama which is rare to see.

It has an open ending which makes sense to me and I love that we have an optimistic look rather than a sad ending as I wouldn't have been able to handle that. I still hope we will get a special episode or season 2 because 40 episodes was surprisingly not enough for me and I want more of all the cast.

Xianxia series funny, intriguing, very cute.

Plot: twin princesses (1 dedicated to immortals, the other to demons) are exchanged at their weddings.
Comical scenes about the adaptation in the 2 kingdoms. Big chaos and the immortal ML sacrifices himself to save the world. FL goes on a quest to revive him. But it would be too simple if everything went well!

Great actors (especially Chen Xing Xu who plays 4 characters), 2 sweet and emotional romances, well writed story, directing without downtime or lenght, great CGI, great OST!!

Don't miss this drama !

Série Xianxia drôle, intrigante, très cute.

Plot : princesses jumelles (1 vouée aux immortels, l'autre aux démons) sont échangées lors de leurs noces. Scènes comiques sur l'adaptation aux 2 royaumes. Great actors (particulièrement Chen Xing Xu qui joue 4 personnages)
2 jolies romances, émouvantes,
l'histoire est bien écrite, cohérente,
la réalisation sans temps mort
CGI de qualité, great OST !!

10/10/10/10 absolutely the best

okkay, let me start with this Drama is one of my best from the ones i ever watched
I recommend it to everyone who is fond of the genre.

I remember that i get in Chinese dramas with Ashes of Love, what is a classical piece, and i saw some recommendations for this drama that it is similar in style and story. So i was like okkay lets give it a try and will see how it ends....OH BOYY I DIDNT KNOW WHAT AM I GETTING IN TO.....

This drama is fantastic, funny, (I literally laugh trough the first 3-4 episodes) interesting, not boring at all, and so many toxic things are missing here what i love. In Ashes of Love there where many side things and toxic characters what i totally hated and here they don't have. I mean i was even surprised. The two main lead are really cute and great together. The side leads the same.

The story is nothing new, but still gives you surprises and funny moments.

The actors are fantastic.

The music is on point and went strait to my Spotify list.

The CGI is perfect.

The costumes are beautiful.

What else do you need?????

Oh and don't forget to prepare tissues, because you will a cry XD

In my opinion this drama is amazing, and absolutely worth watching, i highly recommend to everyone :)

Epic Xianxia Is Epic

This is really three stories in one long telling. The most obvious story is romantic involving the twin sisters. The secondary story is the power struggles in the Heavenly and Void realms. The underlying story that guides them all is the “Big Bad” that threatens their universe.

The characters are many but after a few episodes very distinct in their differences. The main romantic couples are obvious after the first couple episodes. The heroes and villains aren’t as straight forward in the supporting characters.

As soon as one crisis is thwarted, another one pops up in true dramatic fashion. The story is always moving forward. The laughs are plentiful and balanced with the angst overall. All the little side stories are like puzzle pieces to the bigger picture.

The CGI is amazing and is the visual center to this show and the story. The soundtrack fits the scenes, even when it’s a modern sound. The sound effects are on point, especially enhancing the comical moments. Bonus points for not overusing blood leaving the body. However, in the beginning there are some noticeable sound production issues. Costumes and make up are beautiful. It’s easy to distinguish the type of character the person is suppose to be based on it.

Overall a highly recommended show for those who typically enjoy epic Xianxia style stories.
