What does high school mean to you? What does youth mean to you?
As someone who is turning 30 soon, I haven't watched youth dramas in a while. This is the only youth drama that truly touched my heart and brought me back to my high school days. First of all, our main couple is the perfect example of extroverted girl and introverted boy which I really liked. The ML doesn't really talk much but every time he looks at her, you can just tell how much he is in love with her. Our FL may seem a bit clingy at first, but in reality she is just a 16 year old who has fallen in love for the first time, so her actions are understandable. While watching the drama, I found her so adorable and I was drawn in by her confidence and strong sense of morals. She knows what is right and wrong and she will stick to her principles, even if that means standing up for herself in scary situations. If I were to visualize their relationship, the FL is like the light at the end of the tunnel. Our ML went through a lot because of his uncaring and biased parents and he lived in darkness for a long time. However, our FL shined a light through that dark tunnel and our ML was finally able to find the way out of the darkness. For our FL, our ML is like a solid rock. There is a saying in the Bible that basically says a house built on a rock is the most sturdy because it will never fall. When the winds come, when the rains fall, the house will stay firm because it is built on a rock. In the Bible, this rock is referring to Jesus. In the drama, whenever our FL goes through hardships and difficulties in life, she can always lean on her rock, which is the ML and because of him she can stay strong.
I loved all of our side characters as well. I honestly wasn't expecting to be so invested in the second couple because at first Gu Ran was really annoying. However, the moment Gu Ran fell in love with Jia Jia, everything changed. He suddenly went from self absorbed to kind, caring, sweet and even selfless. The moment when Gu Ran pushed Jia Jia towards her crush so that he could confess, even though Gu Ran was dying on the inside, showed me how this guy was a real gentleman and someone who truly cared. When they finally got together, I'm sure we all cheered for them and said FINALLY!
Moving on, I have such a soft spot for Guan Fang. Seriously, Guan Fang and his grandma made me cry so much and it made me miss my grandma. When I watched the Youtube clips of this drama, I was thinking that Guan Fang would be the happy-go-lucky guy, the clown of this group. I wasn't expecting his backstory, that he was beating people up and getting beat up. That he was the outcast at school and both the students and the teacher didn't like him. My heart went out for him because I am also a person who looks very happy on the outside but I have a lot of sadness and suffering on the inside. Deep in my heart, I hope that Guan Fang and his grandma will live happily ever after in dramaland.
Last but not least, I love this drama because it reminded me of my high school days and in a way, transported me back. The good memories, the laughter, the simple days of chatting in the hallways, hanging out at a friend's house after school, getting bubble tea together. All of these memories came back to me and it made me wishing for, longing for simpler days. It also made me reminisce my high school friendships. Although I don't keep in touch with most of my high school friends, the good memories are there and they will always be there.
I hope that this drama will be a source of joy, hope and encouragement to whoever watches it. For me, it was like a hug on a rainy day. This drama reminds me that although many days are tough and there is so much suffering in the world, when I go home I know that I can get a hug from my loved one and everything will be alright. Sending love and positivity to whoever had the patience to read this whole review. We all deserve to love and to be loved.

a journey from childhood to adulthood
it is refreshing in terms of seeing new actors. I like the Camadiere between the friends and the support system they have for each other. the best moments for me is when su zaizai nags zhang lurang without stopping and he takes it so nicely. there is warmth and also a childlike chemistry between them. Gu ran and the second girl whom he likes is also engaging. Best for me is Guan Feng. His acting is superb. there is no nagging parent and till episode 19 no nagging third wheel. I hope such a character is not introduced and it will take away the sweetness of the drama. it can be continued as a journey of their university and the ups and downs they face together. looking forward for that. Was this review helpful to you?
Heartwarming & meaningful story about youth, love & friendship
This drama tells the story of five students and their journey from school to adulthood. The plot mostly focuses on the main leads however we do get separate episodes for the rest of the friendship group (the second couple and a guy friend). I did appreciate those episodes with the rest of the cast as it made me really connect with their friendship.Main couple is a slow burn romance, friends to lovers vibes. They are caring and supportive of each other, so a wonderful relationship that anyone would want in real life. Male lead is quiet, introverted, calm, and a green flag. He is a bit stand-offish at first but turns into a very caring guy. Female lead is sweet, kind-hearted, cheerful and less shy than the male lead but still timid.
Second couple is such a scene stealer, perhaps because I love enemies to lovers trope. They had all the angst, teasing, bickering and sweetness. I enjoyed them as much as the main couple.
POSITIVE:
- Lots of fluff and cutest school vibes
- Feel good vibes all the time
- The best portrayal of friendship
- No cliche plot lines
- Small misunderstandings that are solved in the same episode
- No love triangles
- No red flag males
- No annoying characters
- The most beautiful and sweetest happy ending
NEGATIVE:
- Dating starts at episode 19 for the main couple so it was quite slow for me. It made sense with the story but I just wanted a little more.
- There is no unnecessary drama and boring cliche storylines which was great BUT some episodes I needed a little more excitement.
OVERALL:
I highly recommend this drama to everyone that wants to watch something that makes you feel really good. The vibes are like eating sweet candy and receiving warm hugs. Even though most of the drama takes place in school it doesn't feel childish so anyone can watch it.

The sweetest coming-of-age rom-com
DON'T EXPECT TYPICAL TOXIC RELATIONSHIP DYNAMICS OR HEAVY DRAMAThis is for you if your looking for a fluffy comfort drama, The story is loyal to it's genre as a coming-of-age rom-com.
I liked how the characters were portrayed realistically, and not just like stupid teens making stupid mistakes and being toxic to each others ... teens can be in a healthy relationship too. they definiletly took me back to my highschool era, my first crush, my first confession, my obliviousness to what's love ...
Su Zaizai's straightforwardness and determination, Zang Lurang's shyness and his cute struggle to figure out how to like someone and communicate his feeling, their circle of friend's support .... all this will make you fall in love with each and everyone of them, I personnaly soobed when I saw the long way they've come at the end, figuring out who they really are.

reasons why to watch
someone who likes dramas that depict their high school friendship years in a lighthearted way should give this a try. This drama contains a very sweet romance, their friendship is also sweet. very suitable for those who miss the good times enjoying school... if there was time to go back in time and there was zhang lurang waiting, I'd go straight to the past though.
the selection for the ost is really very suitable, the visuals of the drama are really really good!!!!!
let's watch this drama, you won't regret it

If you want something heartwarming!
Well, once again I feel the need to write about a drama, and this one is just amazing. I heard about When I fly toward you on tik tok, I was intrigued because I saw communication (I know, something so simple), but that amazed me because I don't like miscommunication plots. But beyond that, the FL was just so bright, ever time the episode was ending, I was looking forward to her little words, that made such a nice touch, I felt like I was reading her mind, and became infatuated by. The ML was also a great choice, great character development. Side characters were also so well chosen. It's a great romance, if your are young you will want to live something like this, if you are an adult you will think that you wanted that relationship, nothing sad, just imagination! Recommend it.Was this review helpful to you?
The last few episodes are a bit of a rush but it's fine, still enjoyable.

Warm, heart-fluttering romance with great side stories!
I watched this because I saw that it is the same author of Hidden Love which I LOVED. I wasn’t familiar with the actors of WIFTY so I was apprehensive. While there were a few tropes that seemed like it was swept under the carpet, it was still extremely lovable to watch. The actors did a great job, their budding love progressing to the strong love they had was well portrayed and didn’t feel out of the sudden.
Everything was so sweet, even when they were in high school. My favourite part of this all is that while the ML is smart and attractive and the FL is less so, it wasn’t like some other dramas where the ML falling for the FL was a ‘just because’. The drama really portrayed how FL’s 偏爱 (impartial love?) towards ML brought him out of his insecurities and trauma.
Everything was so, so lovable and adorable. Must watch if you loved Hidden Love like I did (although HL to me is still the best romcom I’ve watched in a long time)
