Love it and also love that they followed the comic they definitely did a great interpretation of the comic. As you watch you can definitely feel that the cast and whole production team has a blast and bought out the team work.
Am also impressed with the color scheme included, the sound effect is also on point.

Laugh Out Loud Funny & Cute, Too
Tgis is not my normal type of drama to watch, but I needed a lighthearted watch after seeing Prisoner of Beauty, and this was a good choice. The characters are so odd and quirky that you instantly love them except for the raccoon loving control freak Managua ruining Editir In Chief who just made you want to push him down the stairs, off the top of a tall building or down a vacant elevator shaft 😂
There were a lot of times I laughed out loud or giggled in 96% of the episodes.
Every character was amazingly portrayed and their uniqueness remained consistent throughout the drama. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with it.
If you’re on the fence about watching this, don’t be. It’s good medicine.

Crazy comedy
This was one of the funniest, craziest , light hearted cdrama I’ve ever watched. All the characters were great. The cast really were well selected for their character. I had watched the original which I loved but I have to say I think I enjoyed this version more. A really well done live adaptation considering it was done so long ago. I can’t believe it wasn’t shown earlier but it was definitely worth the wait. Well done to all actors, directors and production team . It really is something to be proud of. I’ll definitely be binge watching it again for the laughs. Was this review helpful to you?

Weaponised cluelessness
Final Edit: I got up to ep.22 and gave up. I skip-watched to the end and the 1OTP's confession happened 5 mins before the end credit rolls. We did not get one kiss, nay, not even a hug out of them. Enough said.~~~~~~~My original Review~~~~~~~
I was going to write a review after I finish this series, but after watching 20 eps, I'm sorely tested. Hence a half way review just in case . . ;)
First of all, your enjoyment of this drama will be very subjective. If you are in the right demographic and/or fans of the stars, your journey will be much more enjoyable. Otherwise, caveat emptor, my friend.
This show is a youth/idol romance drama set in a college. The characters are supposed to be in their early 20s, yet the actors are closer to 30. They did ok most of the time but don't look too closely.
The A-plot is straightforward enough. We have 3 CP's. They are pre-ordained yet most are blissfully unaware. Some are outright frenemies. Others are crushes that need to be cultivated and ascend to the next level. The FL's are more aware of their feelings and what they want.
This is where the weaponised cluelessness comes in. Most ML's are looking for the light switch in a dark room when it comes to their feelings. Let alone the FL's. This is after 20 eps. (Sigh)
This is even more egregious for our 1OTP. I know the 1ML is tall and handsome but he is charmless. He has zero EQ and -100 points in social skills. Is he on the spectrum? He would literally tell you he is watching you because you are ugly and he wants to add an ugly character to his manhua.
BTW, he has been pigeonholed into drawing shàonǚ manhua, ha-bloody-ha! Most of the comedy comes from his ham-fisted attempt to do research among his college cohorts.
Don't get me wrong, there are cute and funny moments but there are plenty of cringey and awkward ones as well. Same old gags are on repeat. These are low hanging fruits.
This extends to the multiple love lines. There is a lot of misunderstandings, confusion and outright ignorance. All the usual tropes get airing.
Our FL is constantly yo-yoing between despair and hopefulness. I share her pain. I seriously question why she has such a huge crush on the ML. He is not so much a blank canvas but Teflon coated. Every overture from her is deflected. Sure, he cares for her but he would do the same for a stray cat.
Similar situations confront our other two CP's. They are clueless or in denial after 20 eps. Is that cute or painful to watch? You decide.
I know most of the reviews are positive and I can see why. It is angst lite and easy to watch. I enjoyed seeing a manhua being created.
The show is watchable, but 33 eps is a stretch. Every trick are used to occupy screen time. IMHO, it'd work better if it is tighter and shorter.
Now let's talk about the bread and butter stuff. Firstly, there are a lot of overacting. They are playing for laughs after all. Secondly, it is less acting than roleplaying archetypes. Bumbling, domineering, shy, take your pick. Most characters are one dimensional. Thirdly, costume is casual college chic. Except the FL who is always well presented but I can't shake the Lolita vibe. Fourthly, the OST is serviceable.
I'm trying to finish the show but the crystal ball is murky. I'll update as I progress or . . not. Peace.

THIS TURNED OUT TO BE BETTER THAN EXPECTED
I watched the last 7 seven episodes like finishing a marathon. It was amazing tbh. For the first few episodes I was a bit perplexed about the ml's character being too unreal. His character development was totally necessary which eventually happened. I'll give it a 9 because they didn't show us the reaction after Ye Zhen and Zi Yu got to know that were texting each other as online friends. I also loved that there weren't much skinship between ml and fl except holding hands. Not to mention, I swooned over it. That scene was like dessert to my dinner. Was this review helpful to you?

All-Time Hilarious Banger
'The Comic Bang', if I must say, is also another drama which is trapped in iQIYI's dungeon for years since 2021 due to copyright issue (if I'm not mistaken). It is adapted from a well-known Japanese manga 'Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun', though I haven't read it myself. By the way, I first came upon 'The Comic Bang' when I happened to scroll through iQIYI's upcoming dramas and surprisingly, I don't regret picking this up even though it has less buzzed viewership and crooked rating. Want to know what's the story about? Keep reading below yes...So, this show revolves around a shoujo manhua artist named Lu Yeqi and his to-be girlfriend, Zuo Qiandai, who keeps screwing up her confessions. However, as a science student, Yeqi lacks the idea and inspiration of what makes a shoujo manhua better. With the help of Zuo Qiandai, he begins to rediscover his life and also finds numerous materials for his manhua, which he will later use to confess to Qiandai. Alongside them are the flirtatious flower boy Chai Ziyu, the tomboyish drama queen Lu Dao, the strict drama club's president Gu Zhengxing, the devilish and bold bad girl Zhou Jieyue, and the cute yet dumb basketball enthusiast Jiang Ruosong. Over time, they face hardship and crisis together and find their self-growth in the process, ultimately cementing their relationship as a cohesive manhua team.
Okay, so the plot's nothing special, but the screenwriter manages to utilize every single trope into a slapstick comedy without being too cringe or too dull - everything fits just seamlessly. In each episode, there will always be funny stuffs revolving around the seven of them. I can't help but keep roaring with laughter till my stomach hurts because the scenes are just damn too funny to resist. I also like the part where they fight for Mr. Gong Jian's right to reclaim his old job (he's Yeqi's editor or something like that) and the final part when the racoon-guy Qian Ye is hit unconscious by another manhua artist, You Li (Yeqi's former neighbor).
Acting wise, I only know Shen Yue, Jenny Zeng, Zhao Yiqin, and Wu Yuheng out of the whole casts, but most of them do greatly and truly capture the essence of each character straight out of the manhua. The production team also does their best to create the atmosphere with Japanese-like vibe, so that the watchers will be drawn into the show more than they expect to be.
Costumes, background, settings are pleasant to eye and there's no over-the-top designs. OSTs are okay-ish, but they don't hook me much.
If you're in a need for a light-hearted comedy youth drama, then 'The Comic Bang' is for you. It can also be your stress-reliever after facing a great deal of real life pressures, exams, and many more. Don't hesitate to try this drama and you'll know why it is very enjoyable (kind reminder: do not look at the misleading 7.8 rating). Okay, this is the end of review, good luck and happy watching!!!

Quirky, Sweet, and Totally Self-Aware
I absolutely adored this delightfully offbeat series. It’s the kind of show that knows exactly what it is and leans into it with zero shame, and that’s what makes it such a blast to watch. Right from the start, it’s clear this series is playfully self-aware, fully embracing its anime and manga-inspired roots. Once you pick up on the exaggerated tropes and intentionally over the top moments, everything clicks into place, and it becomes such an endearing, quirky gem of a series. It’s shamelessly goofy in the best possible way. The dramatic double takes, wildly exaggerated reactions, and characters who are just the right amount of clueless are its heart. There’s a rhythm to the comedy that feels both nostalgic and fresh, as if the creators are winking at longtime anime fans while also inviting newcomers into the fun. The absurdity never feels misplaced and instead, it enhances the tone and fits the world perfectly.
The ensemble cast is great, and they really bring the chaos and these exaggerated characters to life. Often times slightly cringey, but familiar and relatable too. The dynamic between the leads is especially fun to watch. I wasn’t familiar with the ML before this, but his ability to ride the fine line between charming and clueless was spot on. I love Shen Yue, she’s sharp, expressive, and perfectly matched to the show’s playful tone.
Definitely give this series a chance! It’s an easy binge or perfect to dip into after a long day when you just need something lighthearted and fun.

The casting is on point, with Shen Yue perfectly embodying ZQD. The rest of the cast also fits seamlessly into their roles, breathing life into characters we’ve long loved from the manga pages. The 8 episodes so far reflect the quirky and sharp writing that the comic fans would expect, filled with clever banter and funny moments that keep the energy high.
What’s more impressive is how TCB made such a strong impact with almost zero promotional buzz. It’s rare for a series to gain traction organically in today’s oversaturated media landscape, and that speaks volumes about the quality and appeal of the show.
TCB deserves to be seen—especially by young viewers who will connect with its humor, chaotic moments, and hilarious scenes. Will definitely continue watching.
