As someone who has been eagerly waiting for TCB, I can confidently say that the long wait was absolutely worth it. TCB stands out as a faithful and witty adaptation that successfully captures the characters and humor of the comic material. Though I haven’t finished the entire series yet, it’s already become my go-to show—light, refreshing, and full of laughter.

The casting is on point, with Shen Yue perfectly embodying ZQD. The rest of the cast also fits seamlessly into their roles, breathing life into characters we’ve long loved from the manga pages. The 8 episodes so far reflect the quirky and sharp writing that the comic fans would expect, filled with clever banter and funny moments that keep the energy high.

What’s more impressive is how TCB made such a strong impact with almost zero promotional buzz. It’s rare for a series to gain traction organically in today’s oversaturated media landscape, and that speaks volumes about the quality and appeal of the show.

TCB deserves to be seen—especially by young viewers who will connect with its humor, chaotic moments, and hilarious scenes. Will definitely continue watching.

Drawing Lines

Comic Bang takes you into the world of Online Comics, in this case Chinese Manhua.. If you have children who adore anime, manga, manwha, Manhua, or that kid is you, this is the drama for you. These comics are generally designed to be viewed on smartphones or mobile devices. The drama is very stylish and written like classic comic art. It even has naration. However, the drama boils down to being about first crushes, falling in love and confessing your feelings. When you see him, you know that it is him. He just doesn’t know it yet.

Comic Bang stars Shen Yue (Smile Code) as Zuo Qian Dai and Singer, Model, Actor Wang Jing Xuan as Lu Ye Qi.

First of all, you never know when the feeling of attraction will strike you or who the person will be that will floor you. Zuo Qian Dai happened to pick a 6’2” nerd and secret cartoonist Ye Qi. He is awkward when it comes to girls. However, secretly he is a comic Manhua cartoonist and she is a comic commentator. Game, Set, Match.

Better then i thought ?

I was attracted by the silly scenes and watched it with a judgmental attitude towards the live-action drama adapted from the comics. In the end, I was not disappointed at all.
As someone who has followed the original animation and comics, I can really feel the care put into the production.
It's still the nonsensical and naturally crazy style that makes you slap your thighs. There are many echoes of the original work and classic two-dimensional jokes. It's super inadvertent and makes you laugh. I would like to call it an early summer abdominal muscle drama
The ending is so touching
So perfect
Who can avoid being hit by a callback after 11 years?
Everyone, go watch it! It will definitely be worth the trip!ps The ending song "Secret of the Sky" is so beautiful, it fits the plot perfectly, everyone must watch the ending

all cast did great job
shenyue
wangjingxuan
wuyuheng
And the all other team

Mixture of Art, Youth, and Romance With Heart.

"The Comic Bang" is a refreshing twist on the typical youth romance. It stars Shen Yue as Zuo Qiandai, a cheerful math major who finally confesses her crush to the stoic genius Lu Yeqi (Wang Jingxuan)-only to be mistaken as a fan and roped into his secret comic studio. What starts as an awkward misunderstanding blossoms into a creative partnership: Zuo's bubbly energy awakens Lu's artistic spark, transforming his hidden shōjo manhua side-project into a real team effort. I loved how the show balances laughter with genuine growth, offering a behind-the-scenes peek at comic creation and the small triumphs of friendship.

The real magic, for me, lies in the chemistry between the leads. Lu Yeqi's silent intensity and gradual thawing around Zuo Qiandai made his character unexpectedly endearing-his brilliance shines off-screen just as much as his awkward on-screen moments. Their dynamic-the shy genius and his earnest cheerleader-hits that perfect sweet spot: familiar yet lovable because it's rooted in mutual respect, admiration, and small acts of care. Watching them grow, argue, and collaborate hard on deadlines feels real-like watching friends turn into partners, in comics and in life.

"The Comic Bang" reminds us that creativity-and love-often flourish in unexpected places: when passion, partnership and playful misunderstandings collide, the results can be heartwarming, hilarious, and totally charming.

Fresh premise: the world of manhua artistry feels unique and engaging.

Found-family vibes: a small creative team with distinct, relatable personalities ties the story together.

Slow-burn romance: the chemistry and character development grow organically, avoiding melodrama

If you're seeking a light, feel-good romance wrapped in creativity and character, The Comic Bang is well worth a binge.

Her best friend is the only thing i didn’t like

Jiyue was so annoying when she played basketball she beat up everyone. That was not funny as was supposed to be it was foul. Not just that she’s basically forced the guy she likes to hang out with her when he has a part time job to get to. She obnoxious and rude it is not cute at all. Her personality is just her being all rowdy. Her character should have development and she still hasn’t any through most of the episodes. I kinda skip her scenes. She always is man handling her crush too like girl… overall good show I just don’t like her character.

as a long time fan of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, I am in love with this series

the casting is great - the actors really look the part, and perfectly embody the manga characters' little quirks and even their clothes showcases their indiviual styles

the setting is a bit different - since the original story was set in Japan, at a Japanese high school and the show is localized to China, there are obvious differences. everyone got a Chinese name:
Nozaki is now Lu Yeqi
Mikorin is Chai Ziyu
Sakura is Zuo Qiandai
Mayu is Lu Yezhen
Seo is Zhou Jieyue
Wakamatsu is Jiang Ruosong
Hori is Gu Zhengxing
Kashima is Lu Dao

and ofc the broader supporting cast (Ken-san, Miyako, and even Maeno) makes their appearance as well

due to the localization there are local customs eg. Mayu does some kind of other martial art, not judo. for some reason the high school setting was changed to university as well, which I don't mind as much as I thought I would. everyone's major fits their character well and they characters still hang out and do their usual shenanigans together thanks to their majors/clubs. since they are in uni, most of the time they are out of uniform - except Sakura, which seemed to have turned into a visual gag for each episode

I was kinda scared that with so many changes the humor would be lost as well, but the writers really managed to make the best use of the characters and the script. the first few eps loosely follow the manga's gags but there are plenty of original material in there too and so far it all has been incredibly funny

the biggest change however is that unlike the OG GSNK - where every tiny steps towards a canon ship is followed up by an immediate joke and yet another shoujo trope parody, the show actually seems to try and gives us legit romantic set up. a lot of the things that are adapted are from much later volumes and by the way things are going it seems the show might make the couples canon before the manga ever does. the biggest (and most welcome) surprise was that even Mayu and Mikorin - who get treated as a crack!ship in the manga mostly - got a few, genuinely romantic scenes for them. now I'm not gonna hold out hope that they end up together officially by the end of this show but the fact that the show treats them with the same kind of romantic set up as any of the other couples made my delusional MayuMiko shipper heart incredibly happy

one thing I am torn about is that as much as I am happy about progress between Nozaki and Sakura, Sakura seems a bit too mean at times. as I am not up to date with the manga I am not sure if all of these plotlines are entirely original or if they came from later volumes, but sometimes it gets grating that she avoids Nozaki without giving him a clear explanation. in the manga Sakura is completely aware of the fact that Nozaki CANNOT read social cues for the life of him, so expecting anything romantic from him is hopeless.. but show!Sakura seems a bit less understanding of how Nozaki's mind works. and the fact that show!Nozaki tries so hard to make her happy (and it is implied much heavier here that he does indeed like Sakura) makes it so much harder to watch Sakura act all cold and snappy with him.

I like Shen Yue, but she needs to branch out and stretch her acting talent.

The Comic Bang is a Romantic Comedy drama starring Shen Yue and Wang Jing Xuan. I like Shen Yue, but she has no range. She needs to branch out and stretch her acting talent.

She is being typecast into the same role, where she plays a bubbly and aim-to-please character for a clueless and stoic male lead. I watched 5 episodes and dropped it because the plot is so ridiculously stupid and childish.

Synopsis: The mathematics department sophomore, Lu Ye Qi, who is low-key yet extremely good at studying, has an identity that is not known to others – a professional shoujo manhua artist. However, as a science student, he actually lacks certain knowledge of shoujo manga. Lu Ye Qi originally dreamed of becoming a shonen manhua artist. Still, by mistake, he embarked on the road of shoujo manhua. Driven by his passion for manhua, he is determined to see his dream through to the end. The girl who had a crush on him, Zuo Qian Dai, was dragged into his comic team by mistake after her unsuccessful confession. After getting to know Qian Dai, he gained new inspiration to create manhua. As the two of them spent even more time together, he discovered a new passion for creation. As the manhua team continues to expand and stabilize, new opportunities and challenges come one after another. Faced with all the unknown difficulties, the team members experienced confusion, doubts, and quarrels. Still, they ultimately fought together to become a cohesive manhua team. They trust and support each other. In the small studio, stories about youth, friendship, and dreams are being told every day.

The anime of Comic Bang has been my favorites for years, so I'm honestly kind of sad that they had to make a live-action version. The anime and manga were definitely way better than this drama.

Let’s start with the clothing. I'm so confused. In the manga and anime, the characters are in high school and wear school uniforms, right? But in this drama, the main girl wears a uniform but also other random outfits for school. Are they in college or high school? Or, like, when she wears the gray uniform to school and all the other people in her class are wearing casual clothes, what’s going on?

The first few episodes were also super confusing. The way they jumped back and forth between scenes made my head hurt. They’d show flashbacks of the main girl, like, random scenes from the main guy’s house, and I was just sitting there thinking, "When tf did that even happen?!"
And then in episode 2, when the redhead randomly appears at 09:36—why wasn’t he introduced earlier? It felt so out of place.
Also, why were they talking with books in the library? It’s a library, you can literally whisper to each other!

I also wish the drama had more color—it just felt so dull and boring.
I would definitely recommend the anime, though. Watch that before you even think about watching the drama.
My Opinion!

Comic Bang No Bang Fizzler

I gave Comic Bang another try, I try to be fair to SY and watch her dramas openly. I can't continue - surprise, surprise! It is just so boring and bland. No surprises, same old plot where the audience knows the important hidden truth/ misunderstanding and that's what drives the plot. So has been, been there, seen it, dozens of times.
She is not acting any worse than I have seen her before. This is in fact better than she was in Smile Code - but I haven't been tempted to laugh even once and a smile is nowhere near either. But isn't this a comedy? Not in my book.
Having recently finished watching Filter, I know what comedy is, and this Comic Bang no bang fizzler isn't it.
