Best Chinese movie i watched since decades
for all those people who are hesitating to watch this movie, i want to say , yes watch it, it is one of the best and most heart wrenching chinese movie ever, the plot, the characters, the acting, the emotions and life choices in this movie was painfully real and accurate..these types of movies where it will live within you for yearsWas this review helpful to you?
Very interesting story about hidden identities with a good rewatch quality
Honestly, I was a little bit hesitant to watch this and afraid I might not like the movie, even if I really wanted to watch it for Ding Yuxi and Deng Enxi. That fear was mostly because of medium ratings and the info I could find about it in general being just scraps. But I am very happy I finally watched it.The story had many elements I love, it gave me a variety of feelings, and it provided some plot twists that started circling in my mind just shortly before they were shown. The mystery of Ding Yuxi's character was well kept and made me question his motivation for quite some time. I really want to praise his brilliant acting in this role, which was once again something different from what he usually plays.
Though, he's not the only one who I enjoyed a lot. I don't think I have ever seen Peng Yuchang in anything, but in my opinion, his acting was as brilliant as Ding Yuxi's, and the girls, Deng Enxi and Li Manxuan, were just as amazing.
Overall, whether to recommend watching this probably depends on what sort of thing everyone is into, but to get a decent story about secret identities, some darkness, mystery, and crime, this is a good choice. And if you enjoy any of the actors who took part in telling us this story, I really recommend it.
P.S. I think this has good rewatch value, because once you get to the end you can watch it again and see all the details that already hinted at the ending. More observant viewers might notice them right away, but I wasn't as quick, so some reveals were great twists for me.

Strong Performances, But Too Predictable
I started watching this because I heard Ding Yuxi and Peng Yuchang played roles that were different from their usual ones, and I agree that they did. That made it an interesting watch. But overall, I thought this was just okay.The biggest issue for me was that it was very predictable and easy to figure out. When I can recognize the formula and predict the next five steps, the journey becomes tedious because I'm no longer discovering the story—I'm watching it to confirm what I already expected. Predictability isn't always a deal breaker for me, but when a story feels too familiar, I need something else to offset that. Unfortunately, I never found that here.
The story often felt like it was simply following a script, with very little surprise in the reveals. The arcs also felt somewhat stilted, so there wasn't much opportunity to become emotionally invested in either the narrative or the characters. The only time I felt any real emotion come through in the storytelling was toward the end, when we got some backstory into the life of one of the villains. That was the best part of the movie for me because it finally gave me a reason to feel for the characters and see them differently.
If that kind of emotional depth and backstory had been layered throughout the rest of the movie rather than saved for the ending, I think I would have enjoyed this much more.
