Another drama about a celebrity and a commoner. Not necessarily an anti-fan but a non-fan. Add to this a dash of the supernatural, body-swapping and you get a tropey drama. Stephen Zhang and Liang Jie were brilliant as the aloof idol Jiang Yi and the spritely entertainment reporter Yu Sheng. Their meticulous performance continues when they were purportedly inhabiting the other's body. What made me give this drama less than a full mark are a variety of factors. For one, the pacing is uneven, very slow in some parts, and quick to escalate on others. Secondly, the supporting characters had their own backstory and also, their own selfish agendas where I cannot feel for any of them, aside perhaps from Yu Sheng's parents. The second pairing is not a pairing at all, and it seems the writers tried just to grasp at straws to make the 2nd couple feasible. And finally, the most glaring error is the last 5 minutes of the drama, which threw the whole narrative into whack, and hence unforgivable in my eyes.

Body swapping trope done right!

I totally loved how this drama built the the plot with the aid of the main trope. (Body swapping) I feel like they didn't over do it to the point of annoyance. The swapping in a way allowed each (mostly male lead for some reason 😐)
Let go of their scars, heal and grow.

The male lead was unexpectedly not annoying, he had a strong spine though he's really slow when it comes to Man-ing up and admiting his feelings. ( cowardly? Nope it's room for growth and through out the drama we see the change.)
The female lead's character is really well done with maturity (mostly) and the way she handled problems was actually for once kinda good. Both characters have their goals and motives each is really cleared out.

The Leading actors/actress gave an amazing performance though sometimes it did feel a little animated like. Loved the subtle and the big changes that each showed when the swapping has taken place. (To the details like how their voice sounds)

The side characters? Supports? each actor portrayed it well even though the supporting characters felt one dimensional (sadly) during the first half, the last half of the drama added depth to the characters to some extant making them feel more prominent. I love the way each had their moment. Those that I Innitialy disliked ended up becoming characters that I didn't dislike- wise words of dawn 2024 🐣

With that said the ending before THE ending (10mins) was so unnecessarily done, like what?? And not to mention the explanation of the swapping just being said on a passing with no further elaboration. And the ark of the FL's doctor friend finding out about the swapping just built to lead to nothing. I was half expecting him to go full on villain 😂😂. Anyway just like many other c dramas this drama do become draggy during the middle portion. But is somewhat tolaratable. The pacing picks up too.

good

start- Got me hooked from start really like it

what I like-
comedy
romance
all characters
no 2nd couple
no unnecessary drama

what I dislike -
1. could've have been a little slow burn even though they get together in remaining last eps after 15 + , it felt fast for me and they already kiss many times because they switch because of it
Romance - they already kiss before dating because that's their way of switching back to normal, for me I prefer slow burn and even if kiss scene are few or just 1-2 It doesn't matter there should be romantic interaction , but this one they already kiss too many times before dating, I have seen similar drama that FML has some issue and ml has to kiss her because of that ,but that couple had enough interactions and it was slow burn
2. the switched body parts was way too long , they were normal less and switched body more ? that doesn't show their real interactions then ? i was really annoyed when around the confession they switched because it was important part and finally they were normal ,but they switched again and too long and author would bring FML back exactly at time of confession, which ruined everything for me ? there's was no slow burn ,no real interactions, more falling in love in other persons body ? so I lost interest after they started dating so decided to drop at 20 and skipped after confession
because I enjoyed so i give it a 8 even though I'm dropping this, because still better than many drama.
3. start and middle is good but I started to dislike the plot of switching souls because they stay in that way too long ? and when they're finally normal started to like eachother I wanted to see more but it ruined by switching them again so dislike last part

Worth watching!

To be candid, I avoided watching this show forever….I had a negative bias towards the FL since I had dropped watching two shows with her as the lead before, so I kept adding and removing this show from my watchlist. When I finally read some good reviews about the show in MDL, I decided to give it a go. I already liked the ML in Go Ahead and Skate in to Love, and I must admit, I really liked the FL a lot here. It’s amazing how the story, screenplay and styling can make an actor seem so good in one show compared to others. The story wasn’t an uncommon one, with body swapping between the leads, but the chemistry and the romance were amazing. I loved seeing the leads together in the show, and I really felt the emotions and heartbreak when they had to separate even though neither could live without the other. The life of celebrities seems golden and enviable from outside, but the fact that they have no personal life and all their choices are publically discussed and commented upon by fans and critics, very bluntly at times, is something that makes me super thankful that I am an average person, and also happy that I dint indulge in discussing celebrities online. Coming back to the series, it was a wholesome, sweet and very entertaining story, and I loved it a lot!

One of the best realistic drama ever with the best kissing scenes

Honestly never seen a more realistic drama than this one everything was done perfectly. Being a celebrity really doesn't make things easy for one in this life, this drama also shows how celebrities live their lives, their fear, how they love and deal with their traumas as well. You get to see the fan culture. Notany will understand or like this drama but honestly the fact that it's so realistic should be one of the main reasons you should watch this drama. The actors played their parts seriously, be it when they are themselves or in each other's body. Liang Jie is really one versatile actress and her Co lead isn't far behind. It was a perfect drama with the perfect casts as well.

It was delightful, makes you smile and swoon

It was really wonderful. The chemistry between the leads and the nature of their relationship. The witty humor throughout the story. Both the FL and ML were equally important to the plot and both were very well written. The FL was strong, bold and not the whiny ones we usually see . The ML was really sweet and despite what it seems like in the beginning the most thoughtful. The switch was so we'll handled at the perfect time for the plot . Although I personally liked it better when they were in their own bodies, made the relationship move wholesome .
I especially liked how wholesome the relationship was and how naturally the seem to be in love .
All the characters were interesting in the own right and I would actually like to see a sequel on what happens between jia shu and tong hua . I'll just imagine they get together as well.
Absolutely worth recommending. Don't second guess, you will surely enjoy this one .

The best modern era C-Drama Rom-Com I’ve ever watched

A Day of Becoming You is my all-time favorite modern era C-Drama. I’m writing this review after my 3rd watch in August 2026. I watched it the first time in early 2024.

Steven Zhang as Jaing Yi and Liang Jie as Shang Sheng were perfect. Perfectly funny, perfectly ‘each other’, and perfectly romantic. Steven Chang always made you believe he was both Jiang Yi and Sheng Sheng —- even in the same scene (note the last 10- 15 minutes of episode 16) !!!!!!’ His entire body, facial expressions, and tone were completely different for both roles. Liang Jie brought such beautiful warmth and positive energy to Sheng Sheng as well as a very stoic Jiang Yi who is yet full of wonder at the loving people that have come into his life. I don’t know of any other actors who could have pulled off these dual roles while maintaining such great chemistry as these two.

This is familiar trope but played out In such a clever, hysterically believable way. Watching was so good for my soul - I laughed so hard so many times. (I laughed just as much this third watch as I did the first watch.)

Discovering they have switched - hysterical.
The walnuts!!! Unbelievably Hysterical
The switched Sheng Sheng giving Instructions to the switched Jiang Y on what he can and cannot do while in her body - hysterical
Sheng Sheng’s weight gained (all that led up to that) - hysterical
The variety show / badminton - hysterical
Sheng Sheng’s period. - there are no word🤣🤣🤣
The Park scene overlooking Jung Yi’s boyhood home - heartwarming and oh, so romantic - probably the best romantic scene in all the C-dramas I’ve watched.
Da Chuan - best friend no matter what
Tong Hua - best friend no matter what

I loved how their relationship progressed. There were no spots in the story where I was bored - to me the story flowed effortlessly. The supporting cast were each great! Props to the writer, director, editor, and production team.

The music was great. I have a few songs in my playlist. The visual and sound effects and how they perfectly supported the story are the best I’ve ever seen.

I was not put off by the ending as other people were. To me it brought everything back to the beginning and I appreciated their relationship all the more. The picture of them together, smiling at the end is beautiful and almost gave a sense that it was actually them, SC and LJ, a couple for real (Don’t worry, I’m not shipping them).

I will rewatch this drama again and again. If I can get a dvd version, all the better

Highly recommended!!

10/10

A quiet take on a flashy tale

This show had every chance to go down the campy, over-the-top route, especially with the body-switching plot, but it chose to keep things grounded and realistic. It’s a calm, heartfelt love story where the character development feels natural and genuine. By the end, it really makes you reflect on what it means to truly love someone. The acting is fantastic, and the side characters are incredibly lovable. Overall, it’s a 10/10 drama, and I highly recommend giving it a watch.

On hold...

I came for Steven Zhang and screenwriter Wang Xiong Cheng. I just finished Go Ahead so I was very excited to see that they had another show out there. I truly was excited seeing some of the same actors and actresses in this series but I am kicking myself after watching the first episode. I did not look to see who was cast or read the summary.

First off, I have a very bias opinion of Liang Jie. I have seen two of her dramas and her acting just annoys the heck out of me. She has the same personality, characteristic and I just can't see her improvement so therefore I'm putting this on hold. I'm so disappointed and upset because I think this series would have been up my alley but they chose the wrong actress.

Overall:
Totall worth it!!

Selamat menonton :)
