A Chaotic, Heartwarming Twist on the Genre
Set against a college backdrop, this rom-com is a fluffy and hilarious treat for BL fans. However, by introducing subjects like body image struggles and self-worth, it attempts to reinvent the formulaic university romance genre, shedding light on mental health issues often overlooked in dating culture. The interactions between the two protagonists, PondPhuwin, remain heartwarming throughout. The series also features the breakout BL performance of the actor Louis as the character Meen. His chaotic chemistry with Neo (who plays Duean) quickly became a meme and spawned a massive fandom of its own.

From cute cringe to annoying cringe
The first half of the series was not terrible, but after that, it got repetitive and thus I lost interest. By the 9th episode, I would only watch the series to say that I've finished it. I felt as if the climax and overall plot were being dragged out. Even if the series was just 6 episodes it would have been more enjoyable and more bearable to watch. I found flaws with both main characters throughout the series, and although flaws are common to find in any character, these flaws made me question if their relationship was a good and healthy relationship causing me to not be a big fan of this relationship. I don't think I would rewatch the series as a whole but there are some parts that are cute and would brighten up my day if I watched them again. The side couple is also an enjoyable pair to watch and I like how the fourth wall was broken at times when they appeared on the screen :)Was this review helpful to you?

Ridiculous serie
I think this must be THE most ridiculous BL serie I’ve ever watched … to the point even that it’s not even funny anymore. After 2 parts of a episode I zapped every episode and watched only the scenes between Phuwin and Pond. Their chemistry is obvious (and that’s why “Never let me go” is a hitserie).
Concerning Neo … I saw him in Vice Versa where he overacted his part and portrayed it like an 8 year old boy. In this series it is even worse. And that’s a pitty because this young man has soo much potential. So, please next time cast this actor in a role that is better suited for him.
I can’t recommend this serie at all. It’s one for the “oubliettes” as we say in French.

Fish Upon the Sky starts really strong, especially because of Pi’s character. His struggles with insecurity, bullying, and feeling unlovable feel very real and easy to relate to. His change in appearance is not just about looks, but also about wanting to be accepted, which the show handles really well in the beginning. But as the story moves forward, things start to feel off. Mork’s character, in particular, feels a bit unsettling at times. Even though he is charming and good-looking, he often ignores Pi’s boundaries. He keeps pushing Pi about his feelings and doesn’t respect his wish to keep things private. Because of this, some of his actions feel more forceful than caring, even if his intentions are good.
The whole social media shipping part also feels uncomfortable. Pi clearly says he doesn’t like it, yet it continues and Mork even feeds to their delusions, and his fears about being judged and criticized are proven right towards the end.
The biggest problem is the ending. Important issues like Pi’s insecurity and the hurt caused to him are solved too quickly. It feels rushed and unrealistic. Pi doesn’t really get the proper growth or healing that his character needed, and everything just wraps up too easily.
Overall, the drama had a great start and a very relatable main character, but the story didn’t handle things well in the end and feels incomplete

CUTE BUT KINDA SHALLOW
I watched Fish Upon the Sky basically because I was running out of BLs to watch, desperate times, haha. It’s another enemies-to-lovers story, which I’m a total sucker for, so of course I had to check it out.The concept is cute, but honestly, it felt a bit lacking in substance. Kinda childish at times, not necessarily a bad thing, just not super deep. I’m usually not a big fan of BLs set in university, but I gave this one a shot because Phuwin’s character studies Medicine, and that caught my interest.
I did feel a little sad for Pi (Phuwin), though. He’s super insecure about his looks, even though he’s actually really good-looking. It was hard to watch him beat himself up like that.
Surprisingly, my favorite storyline ended up being Duean and Meen’s. Neo as Duean is hilarious, he never fails to bring the comedy.
Oh, and side note, that cadaver scene? Way too fake. They just threw a white cloth over it, and I couldn’t help but laugh. Not realistic at all.
If you’re someone who watches a lot of BLs, this one’s worth a try, just don’t expect it to blow you away. Definitely more of a filler watch than a must-see 😂

CAMP IN A VERY GOOD WAY
It's so camp, like really camp. The scenes are just so funny and omg I cried a lot from laughing like crazy. The thing is: PondPhuwin are REALLY bad actors, Pond it's the worst of them, but Phuwin it's not very good either. Anyways, it works because as I said: IT'S CAMP!
It's funny and they are cute, but I have to say: NeoLouis as DueanMeen totally stole the scene, first OMG DUEAN WAS SO FUNNY SO SO FUNNY and Meen it's just SO CUTE, I wanted to hug him like a baby the whole time.
In resume: It's good because it's camp and they made very good use of being silly and ridiculous, I watched really fast because it's so easy to watch, it's really good for when you're not in mind to watch something more dark or with more issues, when you just want laugh and being silly a little hihi.
PS.: Louis OST it's so good..

A Silly Little Drama
So apparently I had watched this when it first came out and rated it 3 stars... but I decided to rewatch it because I am in my PondPhuwin era lol and I actually had no recollection of this drama at all so it felt like the first time watching it. I will say I made a note when I watched it for the first time back in 2021 that I couldn't get past the cultural appropriation in ep4 which is still valid, I skipped through those scenes this time around.I thought the cast executed this drama really well, it's just a fun unserious show that had me laughing every episode. I love Neo so much and I thought he portrayed Duean perfectly, and his whole gang of friends played off each other really well. Pond and Phuwin really have had chemistry from their very first drama cause the way Mork was pining after Pi throughout the whole show had me blushing right along side him. Is it a PondPhuwin curse that they don't get together till the very last episode??? because damn I thought there was gonna be 16 or 24 episodes when I started ep12 and they weren't even official yet lol.
I think this was a fine drama, not a very high rewatch value for me but I still enjoyed the lighthearted comedy that this provided.

BLs and comedies....good try I guess!
Cute and cheesy university BL (where the leads aren't engineers?!). The overall plot was fairly uninteresting unfortunately, because the main characters spend so much time fighting over...nothing? PondPhuwin is a great pair though (and NeoLouis of course). I honestly only watched this because I'm still waiting for the new episodes of Never Let Me Go.Pi has had a crush on Nan for a long time but has never had the courage to say anything since he knows Nan is way out of his league. But after a ~makeover~ he finally gains the confidence to approach him. However, Mork is always with Nan, giving Pi no room to be alone with him. Pi continuously gets annoyed at Mork, who always seems to be in his way, until he realizes it's actually Mork who he has feelings for.
Mork and Pi would have been great together if Pi didn't spend the entire series convincing himself he only liked Nan and didn't have feelings for Mork. It took them FOREVER to be into each other. Why must the "cheesy romance" BLs never have much of the actual cheesy romance, and instead be so much fighting and arguing over things that never further the plot? The scenes where they were flirting/actually together were so fun and cute, but there are so few of these that it makes watching this one less fun.

I would recommend this for someone who's looking for something that's cute and sweet and for someone who wants to watch a BL series for the first time.

Watch it once for the actors
There are many things I liked and the same amount of things that I didnt. I dont regret watching it because the chemistry between characters is really sweet, as to be expected, but the show tends to be pretty cheesy. I like that they break the fourth wall a lot but there a a few frustrating/cringe moments as a viewer. I will say the intimate moments are actually really cute/sexy even if they were brought about in pretty forced ways. Pond (Mork) is amazing as always. And of course i will watch anything with Pond and Phuwin together at least once. The relationship between Neo and Louis characters are also just as cute as the main characters. And any chance i get to see Mix in a series I'll take it, even if he isnt really a main character. Was this review helpful to you?
Underrated bl drama
I absolutely loved this drama and think it deserves a higher rating in my opinion! Perfect choice of characters and their roles in the drama! Very light hearted, super cute, great chemistry between main characters and a standard good plot. Some scenes were so hilarious and I couldn’t stop laughing (and it’s rare that I find many funny bl dramas) I also loved the main soundtrack, such a catchy tune which I ended up saving on my phone! If you’re considering watching something cute and light hearted, this is definitely a show for you!Was this review helpful to you?
