To some salty 1 star rating

To those giving Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy a 1-star rating:

Let’s be honest—giving this film a 1-star rating feels less like a critique and more like an overreaction. While no adaptation is perfect, Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy delivers far more than what a “terrible” film does. Visually ambitious, emotionally grounded, and narratively faithful, the movie clearly put effort into honoring its complex source material.

If your 1-star rating stems from unmet personal expectations (like a favorite scene being skipped or a character looking different than imagined), that's valid disappointment—but it doesn’t reflect the overall craftsmanship of the film. Giving it the lowest possible score undermines the hard work of the actors, writers, and production team who brought this massive universe to life.

Bad reviews doesn't equal bad movie

Haven't seen the movie yet...can also say that 90% if not all of the reviewers too hasn't seen it too

But they are working so hard to make this movie not do well by giving it a low rating and bad reviews.....yes yes there fav novel got butchered but have they come to sit down and think how many more readers this movie will give then...LIKE MYSELF AM A NEW FAN OF ORV BECAUSE OF THIS ADAPTATION.....

Do they even think about how much sweat the cast put into bringing this work to life??? No they didn't all they care is trashing the movie and then depriving others from getting to watch.....I'll say IF U WANT TO WATCH DONT BOTHER ABOUT THE RATINGS AND REVIEWS HERE....the real reviews are out there from people who's gone to the cinema

THANKS

saw Jisoo on poster

We booked their early screening because we saw Jisoo on the poster. Have no idea it's a game-like story, they get gold coins for survival. I think this will be entertaining for those who like this game-like movie where they have to clear scenarios like some sort of level in game.(?) Though I only get excited with Jisoo's scene which appears almost towards the end, I'd still say the best part of this movie is the cast. (We actually wanted to leave after an hour because Jisoo still hasn't shown up lol)

I don't click with the main storyline that much but my other favorite character is the bad guy with white hair. I kind of want to be on his side.

Monsters cgi looked bad bad like that early 1990s movie. The background on Jisoo scenes look like they sloppily pasted her on that scene with AHS, Nana, Soobin. Idk she could run fast like superman lol. Jisoo character is scary rude and cold when she talks to AHS. Her motto is to survive or die, like I'd cry if if she say that to my face. I was told after that she's rude and bratty also funny in the book. The part where she wipes her tears of guilt while looking away from AHS got me chills.

There's no scene with LMH, but I remember they say they're like a team when I saw the news last year. I want to see Jisoo with Soobin after Soobin admitted that she's scary but there's no more, Jisoo only has 5 scenes and 4 are with AHS. The classroom scene is too short and was also told they cut one scenario that should show Jisoo with her god of sword stuff. So that's too bad they ditched cool stuff. Her last scene looks majestic but the moster has bad cgi too.

AHS and LMH did their part well I guess idk the book. I don't sense anything awkward from the cast acting. Nana character has cool fighting scene but her story per se isn't that interesting on screen or maybe because she doesn't talk much but still another interesting part of the movie. Soobin is too cutesy and kind, the boy is super cute and childish, the military guy was just..there, but good acting.

May or may not change after I watch the film.

First of all, I just want to say that although I'm one of those who read the novel and the manhwa(webtoon), I can separate the novel, manhwa and adaptation. I tend to treat them as separate entity. And this is my take on this. I haven't watch the film yet but from what I can see from the trailers and the leaked videos, it's very disappointing and aggravating. For someone like me who likes this kind of films it's made very poorly. Don't even get me started with the acting. I'm not saying that their acting is bad, it's just kinda awkward to watch and I feel like their acting is lacking. There's this scene I saw where they first met Jihye. I'm so annoyed with the way she hold her weapon, the rifle. It's like she's hugging some pillow and it kinda ruin the scene of her being supposed to be cool. Now, I haven't really watch much of the film yet, just some leaked scenes from those who've watched it so I can't really judge them for that yet. I'm just saying that it's very annoying to watch(that scene).

Now, let's talk about the plot. We can get the gist of the plot just from watching the trailer right? And I can't say that I am okay with it. Okay, I get it. This is an adaptation. But to change the plot that much? Goodness, I can't even describe how I'm feeling. I've read an article in some site where the director is comparing this LA to the One Piece LA. And how that this LA is getting hated while One Piece is not although there are also changes in it. And let's be real. You can't compare them. This LA (based on the plot) is not even closed to the One Piece LA. There's not much changes in the One Piece LA you know? While this? No need to talk. I just can't grasp what the director is thinking by comparing the two. They changed so much of the ORV's plot by making this LA. And I understand why this film is getting so much hate. Just imagine Luffy dreaming to become the Fleet Admiral of the Marines, that's how we see the Dokja in this LA. Him being a hero and wanting to save the world? Don't joke around, sure he love some people from the world but that doesn't mean he wanted to save the world. He WANTED to save the protagonist not the world. He wanted to see the PROTAGONIST survive not the world. By changing this important part of the plot, you've earn yourself a lot of haters. I'm not even going to talk about the changing of the weapon and their characteristics that made them being loved by the readers because if I do, another long monologue will be added.

To those non-readers who watched the film or to those who watched the film just to support their favourite actors. Let me tell you this, you can get annoyed or get angry or be disappointed by us (novel and manhwa readers) for leaving such bad reviews even without watching the whole film but get this, what you're feeling doesn't even amount the rage and dissatisfaction we're feeling right now. we (novel and manhwa readers) can at least understand some of your feeling but you (non-readers) won't be able to understand ours. Because before the official release of the trailers, the plot and the whole film, we are the first one who are excited and anticipated such film. And that's why our disappointment after it's official release is also this bad. That's just what this is all about. You guys support the film however and how much you want and we will do our best to protect the novel where it all started.

This review is posted not to discredit the actors and their efforts in making the film but to express how much this film ruined one of the greatest novel I've read in my life. This novel is not just some novel for some of us. This novel has become our comfort when we are tired of the world and it's people. It save us from thinking to much and from giving up. And now seeing the novel that we cherished be brought to life and ending to be disappointed. We just can't accept it. Some of you may dislike this review but go on, I'll take it and just think of how much privilege you are.

This movie is completely out of line with the novel.

First, Kim Dokja's character is out of place in the movie. The writer made Kim Dokja's character unique and unique to everyone who has read the novel or the manhwa. Fan becomes a hero character The movie's progression was bad especially the presentation of the characters. From the first scene everything is revealed. Kim Dokja really loved reading the novel "Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World" it helped him forget his gloomy reality and he was the only reader it's the novel untill the end .He was even eager to see the ending. He wanted to see the ending because he was the only reader of this novel. Not a rewrite. Kim Dokja's ability to reference and the fourth wall was strongly present in the novel and the manhwa.Where did you go in the movie? The characters that had strong personalities became weak in their presence. I see that the director is mocking the author of the novel for giving him such a bad movie based on his wonderful masterpiece "omniscient reader's viewpoint" .The ratings and reviews should be less than 5 because every fan was excited about the movie and then he collided with a bitter reality. I think the fans of Kim Ji Soo wants to support her that's why some of the ratings were 10. I don't know who the blind who would give a 10 rating after comparing the novel and the movie.!?

TRASH TRASH TRASH.

I fcking tired to always feel THIS ANGRY towards the so called "LA" of my fav story WHICH IS NOT EVEN A 1% SAME WITH THE STORY. If the producer want to make a whole new movie, please don't bring the "ORV" name in it, cause this is nothing similar with the ORV I know. This is just so bad that I even think it didn't even deserve my effort to write this critism, and even the 1 star is too generous for this shit.

From the very first episode, this drama captivated me with its stunning cinematography and atmosphere. Every frame looked like a painting, and the color palette reflected the tone of the story perfectly. The production team clearly poured their heart into every detail — costumes, music, lighting — everything felt cohesive and intentional.
The performances were equally impressive. The lead actor delivered a nuanced portrayal filled with quiet strength, while the female lead balanced grace and intensity. Even the supporting cast shone in their moments.
What I appreciated most was how the story wasn’t afraid to take its time. It allowed viewers to breathe, think, and feel. By the end, I didn’t just watch a drama — I experienced one. Truly one of the finest pieces of television I’ve seen in years

Gary Sue Popcorn Fantasy

The movie is a diverting enough time for some action fun. It does have a message of team work makes the dream work otherwise you are a monster dooming humanity alongside the bloodthirsty capitalistic oligarchs using your bodies and soul for sport. It's on the nose but sadly much needed in today's world where people have ceded critical thinking to hallucinating chat bots.

I feel that its natural that when you remake a manhwa into a movie there are alot of things you cant execute perfectly. I feel like those who just watched the movie loved it. I loved it. The cast were amazing.
The ending was not felt like a movie ending , hoping to see more . Also at some point the backstories were kind of not very emotional.

The story follows Kim Dokja, an average office worker whose only passion is reading an endless web novel titled Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World. Just as he finishes the final chapter, reality shatters, and the world of the novel becomes real.

The first thing that stands out is how the plot's ambition far outpaced the post-production budget (or talent). In a story where monsters and cosmic powers are fundamental, encountering digital effects that look two decades old completely breaks the immersion.

For those who haven't read the webtoon or the novel, the sheer amount of world-building rules (coins, attributes, stigmas) can feel overwhelming within the first 30 minutes.

The "disrespect to the author" criticism is not an exaggeration. By altering key events and oversimplifying the "scenario" system, the film betrays Sing Shong’s core message. They have attempted to turn a deconstruction of the genre into the same kind of empty commercial product that the original story itself criticizes.

My personal recommendation: Now that you have the character´s faces in your head, run to read the Webtoon or the Novel. You will realize that the movie barely scratched the surface of what this story truly is.

Not true to the Original Story

There are definitely aspects of this movie that hold true to the original webtoon, however as you get further into the movie you can see where it starts to drift away or reduce parts of the original webtoon.
I actually believe this would have been more liked if the story was made into a kdrama instead of a kmovie. The original story is so complicated and detailed that the drag of a long kdrama would have given some justice than the fast pace of the movie in my opinion.
What really bothers me though is the CGI in this film. You can tell where they put the most effort and practically gave up with the other designs.
If you are going to watch this movie, watch without thinking about the webtoon or just read the webtoon because it is 100% more worth your time.
