People sure is harsh
i cant believe im defending an korean LA adapation. disclaimer, i did read the manhwa and yes there are so much changes that makes those who didnt read wont understand wtf is going on and those who reads disapointed. but honestly what did you guys expect ? a flashy laser clash like solo leveling anime ? dude this is live action, fix your references check onepice LA, or kamen rider or maybe gintama LA. cgi wise is not that much difference really, not better not worse either. the production is respectablestory changes for me personally i respect this change more than what happened with sweethome, both are monster based unknown disaster setup yet sweethome changes into zombie apocalypse at least after first season. i mean the point of the story is there even its so jumpy, and the bromance is okay mc believes that the mysterious guy will save the world, mysterious guy testing maybe mc can save the world instead of him.
acting wise, twsa mc (mysterious guy) doing okay i can see the tsundere. the mc however is so under he looks too whiny, after the first scenes the mc should have much more self confidence or kids these days called it aura farming, i mean dokja (mc) bluff is his best quality. and the other are too under developed well its just an 2 hour movie so its expected.
music wise its decent good, i like the music in the beast fight part. could be better though try put more proper ost, look at huntr/x its not even an action movie but the music battle is banger and no huntr/x is better not because its musical drama. try copy dmc anime, i can only imagine if the mysterious guy fight or the outsider girl rampage with dmc like music thats a fucking banger.
last message from me, dude please fix your references especially if you are korean. you guys dont want a spiderman level fantasy action movie with korean original thing ?, come on this maybe a decent first step.

What else did we expect?
I'm surprised by the abundance of bad reviews but also understandable. I am not caught up with the webtoon but I have seen every scene the movie adapted. It's always difficult to translate a webtoon into a live action. There will be some things left out, it will feel choppy and unorganized, but that's inevitable. I actually think I enjoyed it as much as I did because I read the webtoon. For viewers who never read ORV, I feel like everything would be really confusing. I was able to keep up because of all the details from the webtoon. It was exciting because I knew what was coming up. The movie was a nice visual presentation of the world. It was fine, I enjoyed it.Was this review helpful to you?
This was a mess
Full disclosure, I have not read the source material on which this movie is based. So far it seems the movie adapted part of the webtoon but I cannot judge how well they did. However, not knowing the lore, I found the story all over the place, the characterization very poor and the CGI pretty weak.Even though there are some interesting aspect to the story itself and I was entertained to some degree, it feels quite typical of some isekai / leveling up action story already out there. But it also feels super messy with the hero having like a cheat code, making the tension void. There also too many characters to build properly the relationships in the span of one movie. Even if I like the cast, I was not impressed by any of their performances...It might have been more the fault of the script than their acting but it felt flat for the most part.
I would not recommend this as it feels very messy and quite generic overall. I watched for the cast, but even them could not save the movie.

A Trainwreck of Catastrophe
Finally, after months without reviews, I’m back again and here I am, fretting over the so-called brand-new sci-fi movie "Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy". For your information, it is adapted from Singnsong’s much-loved sci-fi fantasy thriller novel under the same name. Prior to jumping into this movie, I’d had a peek of the first 20 chapters of the webtoon. I may not be an avid webtoon reader, but I still have some affinity to it (my favorite is Singnsong’s other work, which is "The World after the Fall"). There had been quite a few weeks after its release that I began to watch it. Normally, given the venomous-dripped reviews and its wacky rating, I should’ve avoided it at all costs. However, some part of me still wondered why these people were making a fuss over a failed adaptation (for Omniscient Reader: Viewpoint's lovers, it must have been a hard time for you all). So, without any hesitation, I plunged myself into the movie and I got to understand why this movie was called a chaos. The movie follows the journey of an ordinary office worker Kim Dok-ja who’s living his mundane life with the aid of his favorite web-novel “Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World”, of which he has been ogling for 10 years (I’ve forgotten the exact time). One day, the story recently concludes its run and Dok-ja finds the epilogue quite a lackluster, so he inadvertently castigates the author (this is a contradiction against the OG source already where he actually praises the author) and triggers the system which transports him to the novel’s world. Alongside his new companion, Yoo Jung-hyeok, Yoo Sang-ah, Lee Hyeon-seong, Jeong Hui-won, Lee Ji-hye, and Lee Gil-yeong, he must navigate through this complicated world that he himself only knows and survive the ordeals and trials based on what the author has created before.
Based on my observation, the plot itself offers an intriguing premise with a blend of sci-fi and fantasy thriller, which has always been my favorite. Nonetheless, “Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy” doesn’t really work on me as much as other shows do. Glaring plot holes and unnecessary modifications can be found everywhere right from the get go (the castigation of the author, I mean). Another thing that I notice is how they change Sang-ah’s ability into healing, when she isn’t a healer herself. How he survives inside the sea monster’s tummy is still a mystery to me. Why do they have guns and sniper rifles as weapons too? And I believe Dok-ja isn’t a prophet – in fact, he has a reading skill that can make him see through other people’s abilities. Knowing what will happen in the future just because you understand and memorize the plotlines doesn’t make you a prophet, you know. Too much asking, I suppose. Let’s move on to another point.
Incongruous and grotesque CGI only worsens the situation and I can’t help but keep rolling my eyes over and over again. The monsters’ CGI is tacky and distortedly ugly, as if they were made out of 10-year-old kid’s plastic toys or even cardboards. Meanwhile, the scene where the gold coins churn out of the monster’s body after it is killed, is infuriatingly absurd as though this movie were some kind of RPG game such as Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and many more. By the way, against all of the people, I actually love the dokkaebi – it’s super-duper cute and speaks like a little toddler that I badly want to hug it (I’m fanatic over the word “dokkaebi” due to ALL(H)OURS’ song, SHOCK).
I can’t fathom why the hell they want to adapt this fantastic novel into a roller coaster of wreckage. I do feel sorry for Singnsong, you know. After all, they deserve better treatment. As for the actors, I have nothing to say except you’ve done a great work despite the not-so-supportive circumstances and I hope that you’ll be able to gain a foothold in other dramas or movies. But still, your efforts have paid off and I’m glad your acting is the last saving grace of this movie.
All in all, you really need to decide whether to watch it or skip it. I’m not forcing you if you’re skeptical, nor will I say it’s an awful movie as well because I still want to respect the actors’ hard work for bringing us the adaptation of "Omniscient Reader: Viewpoint" in a decent way. And my one last message to the director and screenwriter: Please, NEVER adapt "The World after the Fall" if you don’t want another hot mess to reignite again (because it’s my all-time favorite webtoon and no one can turn it into a fiasco unless you’re truly experienced). Time to end my review here. See y’all – good luck and happy watching and sorry for the long yapping!!!

It's a fun popcorn flick
Is it a bad idea to make a live action orv movie? Yes. Will it lose all the good things of the web novel? Yes. Will it feel rushed? Yes again. But, if we forget it the burden of orv adaptation and, treat it as a fun-popcorn flick... It works. The cast is really good, the world is interesting, enjoyable action sequences and, great visual effects. The pacing is also very fast, we are jumping from one interesting situation to another plus the movie is under 2 hours.. All of it makes it a fun popcorn flick.
I can understand, why fans hate it but, I think casual movie goers who know nothing about the world of orv they might enjoyed it. Also, you cannot turn orv into a live action movie, live-action tv series? Yes, Anime? Yes (Crunchyroll already making one) so hard core fans have to wait.
The negativity was to high for this movie adaptation even before it was released, so, I think the negativity kind of killed the movie. Otherwise, it’s an enjoyable movie.

Hollywood-esque fun
You know what? I didn't dislike this at all.Maybe it was because I was expecting an horrible movie. Or maybe it was because I found the first novel confusing and not particularly well written (not sure if it gets better, I stopped at volume 1 and decided to read the mawnha adaptation instead. I had actually read a series with a similar premise earlier - looking at you, Dungeon Crawler Carl - in the year and maybe that is why I wasn't impressed with Reader's Viewpoint). It occurred to me, while I was listening to the novel, that while I found the worldbuilding capacities of the author abysmal, the idea was good and it would do good in a different medium (aforementioned manhwa and/or anime and/or drama) where exposition wasn't a requirement. And I was right. I'm not sure how much it was changed from volume 2 on, but the movie seems to start pretty much like the novel.
If you want some hollywood-esque action with cool graphics (these are not hollywood level but still pretty good) it is a good movie. Most of the negative reviews are from people who like the novels and aren't pleased with the adaptation. Which is valid; I am team Solo Leveling (the other isekai-ish hit korean series besides ORV) and I'm dreading the drama adaptation. However, if none of this matters and you just want to see an action/fantasy movie, with cool graphics and a character leveling from a normal guy into a beast, I'd say this is a pretty good way to spend 2 hours.

I don't like this..
Even though I'm only 2 Years fan for this fandom i can see all in the movie are so frickin bad. Wdym they deleted the scenes for yjh? Theater scene? Deleted. The flag scene? Deleted. No Han Sooyoung. Yoo Sangah becomes a healer, if she becomes the healer then what Lee Seolhwa do dawg? Lsh is the ONLY remember this mf. THE ONLY HEALER THE ONLY BEST DOCTOR IN THIS STORY. and Yoo Sangah literally can kill a man if she wants too. No hate for the cast, i just hate the plot they have in this movie. The director literally killing the already beautiful plot. I will keep hating this LA.Was this review helpful to you?
Im crashing out
Fuck this shit. Fuck this adaptation. Fuck the director. Fuck those who are saying we are salty when the director didn't even adapt it well. They just pasted the characters name and 1% of the plot. And you actor fans are calling us salty? You who don't even read it has the audacity to call us names?who are you? Are you orv fans? 😂If only you read the novel or manhwa then you would've understood our 1 star rating. Atp just gonna kill myself bcs of this shit of an adaptation. Im so crashing out seeing the actor fans or the non orv fans saying we are salty like bitch go read the damn novel or manhwa and come to argue with us.Was this review helpful to you?

the best part was ahn hyo seop's face ?
I think it's a good movie to watch if you've never read the novel or webtoon, but I feel like the further the movie went along, the more it deviated from what I liked about the novel,,,I think the cast they chose was good, but at some points the cgi was just horrible 😭 I can't blame them for that though, since there's only so much that can be edited, and only so much you can do with something so unrealistic.
In the earlier scenes, they really stuck to the script, but I started not liking were it was going as soon as dokja killed the monster in the subway instead of myeong oh. It also wasn't a demon monster unless I missed something. I'm not sure how they're gunna make Myeong oh into a demon now, if they do, but I don't think I'd like the change more than the original. I'm also pretty sure Dokja didn't have any flashbacks that early on?? But I could be wrong.
THEY ALSO SKIPPED A WHOLE STORYLINE??? There was no mention of going into movies through posters AT ALL... I understand for maybe copyright reasons, but they switched how junghyeok 'dies,' to the dragon dokja kills AFTER THE WAR ARC STARTS??? I don't mind that they went straight to the dragon killing, but skipping a whole arc that took up MULTIPLE CHAPTERS is sooo 😭 maybe it'll be in the next movie, but then that means they jumbled up the storyline, and that doesn't sit with me good,,, And if they don't go through it in the next movie, then they're just stupid idk.
The other thing I didn't like about the movie is that they specified, and sorta kinda showed that if junghyeok dies, then the whole world perishes while he regresses to a new world. THEY STATE MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE WEBTOON/NOVEL THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'LL HAPPEN IF HE DIES??? And maybe I'm at fault for misinterpreting since I haven't read the whole novel or webtoon, but I feel like Dokja just knowing what happens to the world when Junghyeok dies off the rip, and them showing the world ending, goes too much against the begining of the webtoon 😭 I'M ALSO ALMOST 100% SURE JUNGHYEOK WAS NEVER FIGHTING THE DRAGON WITH DOKJA TOO LIKE???
Anyways, for anyone who's read past chapter 55 in the webtoon, you probably won't like the movie. I thought it was good besides the changes, but I'm still glad I watched it. It was fun to watch if you didn't think about how much they changed from the novel. I ALSO LOVE AHN HYO SEOP'S ACTING 😱

Never read webtoon, so I'm objective
I enjoyed it and I'm glad I read the reviews after watching because I might not have watched. Its a decent movie with good acting and as someone who has never read the webtoon I now want to read. It's a good story and because it was a movie they had a limited amount of time to tell as much of the story as they could, I would have loved an 8 or 6 episode drama, it would have given the maker more room to tell the story.
With all that said I'd recommend this movie, its an easy watch, easy to follow the story even the gore was done very well you can watch with the kids. I'd love a part 2 or even a series.

Rubbish adaptation
Does not align with canonical content of novel at all.
