Captivating and addictive
This is a beautiful story with great characters and chemistry. I binged it because I was so engrossed in the characters. Couldn't turn it off! Definitely Worth The Watch!! ??
I just completed this drama yesterday and it is nothing short of perfection.. Firstly it's an Enemies to Lover's Trope and it's well written.. The male and female lead have extremely good chemistry and their two personalities compliment on another perfectly...This drama is well paced and features Two Smart Leads... At first they are weary of each other but they later grow to love on another through building mutual trust and experiencing life together...
Overall I found that this was an enjoyable watch... There weren't many villains... One or two throughout the show and they were all brought to Justice at some point...
Wei Shoa's men are the absolute sweetest!! You will fall inlove with their personalities almost instantly... They are hilarious 😂 😂
Lord Wei and his wife I found to have made a beautiful couple and their romantic confessions and actions towards one another was just a joy to watch!! I absolutely loved it....
Their kissing scenes are off the charts!!! My boy can kiss and my girl knows how to kiss her man back!!!!!!

Most war proned dramas or where the leads have some army role somebody at some point in the dream dies...

Captivating story
Two leads Song and Liu are outstanding. All support roles equally outstanding. Costumes and makeup and Cinematography outstanding. Music was brilliant. Except for the disappointing and unsatisfying rushed ending the story line was captivating. I have watched it with great enjoyment twice and moved by the music in every episode each time. Congratulations to the director actors and EVERY ONE involved except for the screenwriter who failed to create a better ending.Was this review helpful to you?

just disappointed for near the end of the story, especially on last eps (eps 36), there’s rarely interaction between wei shao and qiao man, just right at the end not more that 5 minutes☹️ but overall is good! i like the storyline and how smart the female lead character is also male lead that is not easy to be fooled by others. Their acting are so goooodd!!! This is my first time watching chinese drama in historical era. i am mostly a korean drama watcher, about the war and government issues may not as complicated and heavy as korean one but still acceptable. it seems easy to win in the war in chinese drama.Was this review helpful to you?

Wow i never thought i would love historical chinese drama, this drama truly hooked me throughout the entire epi, sleepless night damn, i bow to the scripwriter, director, actors, everyone for writing such an amazing drama!! At first i was craving something new so as not so much fan of historical i tried to give it a try and damn i got to know liu yuning through adwad and this man is criminally seductive, his eyes speak louder than anyone, his voice is deep as ocean!! I fell in love with him in adwad and craving more from him and then found pob, criminally dangerous addicted drama that will take ur sleep 😀The story was so gud, enemies to lover trope 🫶🏻 love everything about this drama!
Fl op strategy and scheme finally got to see some op fl i didn't watch many historical so im not aware of how many fl are like her those i watch have dumb fl but this fl is the epitome of elegance, dignity, auraaaa!!

The story is so beautiful as well as painful, the ending scene broke me 😭
And i feel bad for fl like she did everything just to keep her family safe only to be betrayed by her not so gud so called uncle 🙄this drama was truky something else too like i was feeling what fl is feeling its like im experiencing the guilt her family betrayed wei so it hurts to think and i was so emotionally connected to this drama 👏 thats how masterpiece this drama is cuz making ur audience emotional connect of what the characters r feeling r truly some master level drama!!

Everything was perfect and i really liked the support, respect, emotion ml and fl share like it was ome of the most healthiest relationship i have ever seen in drama, no misunderstanding alwsy communicate and understand each other is sipuch a power couple 🫶🏻 i reqlly love their love story it was so refreshing so cool so elegant ❤️ wish to see more relationship developed like this!

Ur typical Cliche story I have watched many times.
I think the douban score of this drama was more correct than the MDL ratings. It's very cliche n predictable story which u n I have watched many times before i.e enemies forced to be together somehow, then bonds, discovers each other's good qualities, falls in love, there r many trying to seperate them with their petty or clever schemes, most of them failing n making ml fl get more closer, some almost making them apart but then something making them come more closer again never to seperate. Ending will have final battle, some good guys will die along with bad ones n viola we get a happy ending.This story above i wrote by watching only first 12 episodes n dropped this show at 14th episode becos I knew by then i predicted the story very accurately without watching. So I don't really understand the hype n MDL ratings for this overly used troupe n cliche story that is The prisoner of beauty. Maybe I m getting old so I now don't like to watch same old wine in new bottles. ;)

Completely lacked a compelling main story arc
Notes:- fantastic supporting cast. Mains were good but ML’s mother and grandmother were great, Xiao Tao and Wei Liang made an adorable and hilarious couple, the villains were villainous and Liu Duan Duan absolutely steals every scene he’s in.
- FL initially has a whole I’m brilliant and mastering statecraft but acts kinda dingy throughout. For me, A’Fan tended to show more insight, strength and self awareness.
- Bi Zhi - delicious but not showing the most depth of character. Scenes as a bad guy were a bit stiff. Still yummy.
- Didn’t make a ton of sense that anyone took Liu Yan seriously. Same with Ms Missing Nose.
- How did Wei Qu retie Wei Liang on his back with one arm?
- Ms Missing Nose needed to exit the series the same episode she entered it. Too much one dimensional drama.

Am I expecting too much? I’ve read so many positive reviews about this drama, but I find it quite boring because it doesn’t really live up to its title, The Prisoner of Beauty. None of the characters really stood out to me, except for Song Zuer.After that, the plot feels pretty generic, revolving around mother-in-law drama and the one-sided crushes of the cousin and the would-be sister-in-law.
The male lead is also inexperienced when it comes to relationships, so he constantly jumps to the wrong conclusions. Most of the time, the female lead has to be the proactive one and sort everything out.
I made it to Episode 28, but I still couldn’t find any truly memorable scenes, so I decided to drop the drama.

Best costume romance drama this year... so far
Story:The story actually not extraordinary, but sweet romance always a cozy escapism. I like the characterization, smart and strong-minded FL combine with grumpy but soft-heart ML make the dynamic between them unstoppable to watched. And in accordance to the title, the FL's beauty is striking, though other female characters also good looking. The one negative point of the story is the ending. I feel that the ending is a little bit rushed, not all the key characters had their satisfying conclusion. The pacing also felt too slow, as the story start to get gripping after 20s episodes.
Acting:
Song Zuer is a very pretty actress, she is one of actresses that I found very suitable to her character with beauty and witty characterization. Her acting is also high praised , she really nailed it. However, I felt down in the last episode, wish she got more portion to show her strength. For Liu Yuning, this is the second drama where I enjoy his excellent acting. The first one is The Journey to Love. In both drama, his characterization is almost the same, I think he is most suitable for this type for character. Although he is not a typical striking handsome for the first glance, he has charisma for skillful character. For the side characters, I like all Wei Shao's generals and advisor, also Xiao Qiao's attendants.
Production: The female's costumes are beautiful, and some of the architectures and the interiors are exquisite, pleasing to watch.
Overall:
This is no doubt the best romance drama I have watched so far this year. Although I think this drama is a bit over-hyped, but watching it is like a dopamine booster for me.

Good first 5 episodes!
Just finished watching the first 5 episodes. They were good. Song Zuer is so pretty here. Well done the production crew!I found that the characters and story a bit similar to a part of the romance of three kingdoms? Wei Shao's advisor reminded me of Zhuge Liang and on the movie The Battle of Redcliff, I remember a lady that was known to be very beautiful, similar to Xiao Qiao 🤔

I love the full Cast it is a beautiful Heartfelt drama. I love the ML He is a great actor and the FL ad well Beautiful show thank you. Female lead was a major dissapointment
The story was promising enough and the acting was ok but the FL repeatedly used baby talk and manipulation which was enough for me to say "no more!" Ironically she was supposed to be smart and strategic so this was either just lazy writing or lazy acting. On a positive note, the maidservant Xiao Tao was hilarious and her interactions with Wei Liang would make for a great spin offWas this review helpful to you?
