Typical Romcom kdrama

I honestly feel like the show started out as funny and enjoyable but dramatically declined after a couple episodes. the (main) characters were interesting and actually had some individuality to them. gum-hui, for example, was such a fun and unpredictable character and gave the show the “quirkiness” that it desperately needed. after a few episodes, it just got so mediocre, stoic, and cliche…i couldn’t get the hype over it. i think i’ve watched atleast 5 other dramas with the same exact office setting and hot-rich-ceo dude x poor-girl-trope. we got the typical hospital episode, beach episode, field day, uncomfortably fancy restaurant date, and most importantly, the dramatic girl slip and mid-air catch with one hand. it’s actually impressive how these script writers fail to change up the storyline even after like 20 years of the same plot. and honestly, i was much more interested in the second lead bc they actually had some chemistry. overall, i don’t think it’s the worst drama ever but definitely not the best and most unique. i honestly expected much more seeing the high ratings and continuous hype around it. maybe they’re newer k-drama fans who are just getting around romcoms? for us oldies, it’s nothing too special. just a typical romcom kdrama to watch whenever you’re bored. that’s my take!

not really ?

i did not really like this one 😭 like I know it is good like it has a nice story the perfect amount of comedy and romance and an amazing bond of friendship between the girls and the boys too but it was SO SO SO OVERHYPED that when I watched it I was like there was no need for people to die over this one it's good but not as good as they describe it
maybe it got so famous coz it was the first drama of so many drama fans
it had a nice story ngl but it just wasn't my cup of tea
i feel like it was so overrated

It surprised me how much I enjoyed it

This drama is full of cliches and corny moments but it didn't made me cringe at all. What makes this drama so different is that it doesn't take itself too seriously and Sejeong's acting is amazing. The cast make it very enjoyable and fun and the script is definitely better than most of the dramas in this genre. I'm not a fan of the fake dating trope but the way it was developed it was very fun and dynamic. This doesn't only apply to the main couple but the second one too, I enjoyed watching them both. Kim Minkyu really impressed me and I can't wait until he gets a male lead role. Something I found lacking was the OST situation but its not that big of a turn off. I'm happy I started this drama and I'll definitely rewatch it in the future.

A Contract Romance That Knows Exactly How to Have Fun

This drama clocks in, exceeds expectations, and leaves you grinning through the exit doors.

Business Proposal is rom-com perfection with a wink. It embraces tropes like blind dates, fake relationships, and chaebol CEOs, then executes them with confidence, pacing, and just the right amount of self-awareness. Nothing overstays its welcome. Every episode understands momentum.

Shin Ha-ri is chaotic charm done right. She’s relatable, quick-witted, and emotionally grounded, while Kang Tae-moo is delightfully rigid until love dismantles his spreadsheets. Their chemistry crackles with playful banter and escalating absurdity, never tipping into cringe because the writing knows when to pull back.

The supporting couple deserves its own applause. Their dynamic adds spice and emotional contrast, making the world feel fuller and even more bingeable. Humor lands cleanly, romance feels earned, and the drama never forgets that fun is the main goal.

What makes Business Proposal a standout is discipline. It doesn’t drag, overcomplicate, or pretend to be something it’s not. It delivers joy efficiently and confidently.

📈 10/10 for pacing, chemistry, and being the ultimate comfort rom-com you can rewatch without fatigue.

Lighthearted, comedic, rushed?

While the ending is rushed (side storylines deserved better resolutions), most of the season has decent pacing. Many romantic cliches are turned into awkward moments/jokes and they go all in with over-acting, editing and sound effects to play up the comedy. (As a heads up there is A LOT of second hand embarrassment, it is their main comedy device.)

Most of the actors are selling it. The friendships are definitely one of its strengths & the family and workspace dynamics are usually fairly entertaining.

--- spoilers below ---

My list of highlights would be:

* Young Seo and Shin Hari's friendship! It feels most solid and fleshed out – they genuinely feel like close friends. They bicker, they are supportive whenever they need it & call each other out without reservations.
* Young Seo's acting overall is just so fun to watch.
* Shin Hari's appearance & acting actually changes with her roles.
* The work team dynamic is mostly entertaining and has a few touching moments.
* Shin Hari & Tae-moo have a few very lovely bonding moments.
* The second love interest wasn't really a doable love interest at any point. They part ways on good terms.
* The guys are mostly respectful when it matters the most?
* The editing and sound effects are great.

But some things were really dragging it down, too:
* Most characters are exactly the same in the beginning and at the end.
* Too many characters only exist for comedic purposes, but are used in serious plots. (Like Young Seo's cousin ruining her meeting with Sung Hoon's parent figure.)
* Most plots don't actually have consequences. For example, no one ever did anything after Shin Hari's defamation. She was supposed to be forced to resign/move away, she said no, and the editing specifically hid the response to that. Then they move on as if it never happened.
* I also really, really hoped for defamation lawsuit. When your entire career and reputation is ruined after the same person broke your friend's heart, you don't just shrug it off. On that note–
* The show's morals are very confusing and inconsistent. Min-woo thought his friend is in an abusive relationship and punched the assumed abuser, then got scolded. He found out he got cheated on & got scolded for being upset about it. I have no idea what moral stance the show was trying to take there??
* Or like when Young Sae's cousin does almost the same thing she did (pine after Sung Hoon that rejects her and make scenes about it), but it's framed as pathetic instead of funny/romantic.
* Young Seo mentions being in heavy debt, but that's just one-off comment again.
* The families never meet. Shin Hari's parents could get along with Tae-moo's grandpa, but they are never even in the same room. The show completely forgot Tae-moo's grandpa complains about living alone and having meals alone. Extended family dinners when?
* Hitting people is still supposed to be funny when it's the mother doing it.
* Last few episodes have very confusing flashbacks.
* Tae-moo doesn't appear traumatized from having a car accident when rushing over to Shin Hari, even though the theme of the episode is dealing with his trauma from his parents' car accident. It's just not even addressed.
* Last minute sickness for drama, yet easily curable off-screen. Come on.
* Forced separation/time skip. Really thought we avoided that one, but no.
* We never even learn what Young Seo's new business plan is?

I'll stop here as the review is getting too long, but yeah, tl;dr don't think about the plot too much and then it can be fun!

a well-done silly, corny, and cringy drama!!!

i loved every second of this. this drama walked so other rich guy poor woman dramas could run. they did everything so well without making it unbearable. so much credit has to be given to the female leads, kim se-jeong and seol in-a. they played their roles so well, the drama would not have been good without them.
truly an iconic kdrama

I love this drama Only For this Cast.... They're really so amazing in on screen+ Off Screen! I have finished watching this drama about three to four times. I really want season 2 of it. The acting and their bonding here are both very beautiful...I'm obsessed with this drama. As a fan, I won't be sniping them but I also want to see them in real life. We all hope that "Business Proposal" season 2 will come!

There are so many clichés in this story that I think the most original part is the premise. And I loved it.

Some people don't, but I personally love clichés. I just find it annoying when they're not well done, as I've seen in other dramas. Everything works here.

The secondary couple stole the show a little, but I don't think that's a bad thing. The main couple is also very cute and has great chemistry.

It's fun, it's lighthearted, the characters are good, and the soundtrack is iconic. Nothing less.

The last good romance K drama

Business proposal has done something which is lacking in the current year it has managed to capture the charm of 2016 romance dramas while being a modern drama a rich ceo goes on a blind date with his employee who is pretending to be someone else now this is a plot the romance between the 2 main couples is sweet to watch the love story and comedy is top notch a mudt watch for all

A pure shot of dopamine

Suuuper cute and fun in the beginning but sadly fizzled out by the end. Full of tropes and cliches, but self-aware and doesn't take itself too seriously, the show is an absolute delight in the first 5-6 episodes. I literally almost squealed and laughed out loud on PUBLIC TRANSPORT multiple times while binging this. It's like a pure dose of joy and sunshine.

The second main pair grew on me sooo much and I felt more invested in them than in the lead couple. Young-seo and Sung-ho are just 🥺🥺🥺 so precious 🥺🥺🥺

Sad that the second half of the drama became like a conventional kdrama (just like Extraordinary Attorney Woo), losing much of the liveliness and character of the first half.
