Truly it stands out its title. "A Romance of the litte forest"
I can't help but smile to this drama series, the main leads have the chemistry. Working on the same related fields helps is quite cute. They give the feeling of having a feeling of having a first love geeting your heart broken and meeting again after years. Started with wrong foot then scheming white lies that lead to sweet love in the end.A modern sweet bubbly cinderella who gets bullied in the past, found its handsome prince in the form of a humble botany professor.
The second leads acting was not bad also but quite boring so had to skip some parts of their story. A president who exploits a naive girl to get close to her by pretending.
All in all worthy drama to watch. Lovely and sweet. It will make you smile till the end. And leaving a light feeling of being inlove. Growing and accepting each other set backs.
Imprints that love has no expectations rather helping the person grow and being true to oneself. <3

Bubbly romance
"Romance of the Little Forest" is a delightful escape that has truly won my heart, earning a solid 9/10 in my book. From the very first episode, I was captivated by its charming blend of romance, humor, and warmth. The story follows the journey of the female lead, a bubbly and determined fashion blogger, and the male lead, a reserved and brilliant botanist. Their contrasting personalities make for an engaging and heartwarming love story that unfolds beautifully over time. The chemistry between the main leads is absolutely enchanting. Their interactions feel natural and genuine, filled with moments that made me smile, laugh, and swoon. Watching their relationship evolve from misunderstanding to mutual admiration and love was an absolute treat. The scenic beauty and the soft, romantic atmosphere of the drama create the perfect backdrop for their love story, making it even more immersive and comforting.
The performances of the main leads were spot on. The female lead's vibrant and playful personality brought so much life to the drama, while the male lead's quiet charm and emotional depth made him incredibly endearing. Their journey of growth, support, and understanding felt authentic and relatable.
However, one aspect that slightly dampened my enjoyment was the excessive screen time given to the second lead couple. Their storyline felt dragged out and lacked the chemistry and appeal that made the main romance so compelling. At times, their scenes felt like an unnecessary distraction that took away from the heart of the drama. I found myself wishing those moments were spent further exploring the main couple's journey instead.
Despite this minor drawback, "Romance of the Little Forest" remains a comforting and enjoyable drama that I find myself returning to whenever I need a dose of romance and positivity. It's a beautifully crafted love story with endearing characters, lovely cinematography, and an uplifting message about love and self-discovery.

The story of an ugly duckling tried to be a peacock...
This drama reminds me of the 2001 romantic comedy"Bridget Jones' Diary" or a more recent (2019) "Isn't It Romantic?" They are American movies that focus on the insecurity women often find due to their appearance. For us who are used to "near-perfect" female leads, the beginning part of this drama could be very frustrating as the vlogger Yu Meiren tried all ways to get close to the "perfect" Professor Zhuang Yu. But little by little we get to see what had happened in her past, and why she feels so insecure without makeup.
I really love all the scenery taken in the village, especially the tea plantation. Vin Zhang looks so good in this drama, his smile is so captivating. This drama and Rattan are probably his best.
The OSTs are very nice, too. I love the ending duet sung by both the leads (Ester Yu & Vin Zhang) as well as the opening theme song. These are the songs that make me do not want to skip the intro and the credits, just to listen to the OSTs.

Healing... healing...healing..
I'm not an Esther Yu or Vin Zhang fan BUT I fell in love with this drama though I skipped most of the 2nd couples story (though I like Li Jiaqi). I was so drawn by the lead couple. It's a typical romance drama but I feel so relax. It has this healing effect on me whenever I see the 2 leads interact and how their relationship progress. It's cliche but not one you want to skip.I really would suggest watching this one. Just skip the 2nd couple part.hahaha. how I wished the writers and director could have focus more on the main leads story and have written it much better

Cute but flawed
I loved Yu Shuxin and Zhang Binbin. Yu Shuxin was very cute and funny especially. I just wish that there was no 2nd couple. it wasn't necessary! Meiren's story had enough going on and I would've rather they focused on that over adding more story that barely related to the main plot. My favourite parts were the parts in the village and the parts with Zhuang Yu's younger brother. Everything after that started to drag a bit and the 2nd couple made things unbearable. But I'm still glad I watched it because there were still lots of great moments between the leads. Was this review helpful to you?

If you enjoy a drama with little to no romance in the main couple, this one is for you!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and the characters. Esther Yu and Vin Zhang did a fantastic job at making this drama beautiful and an amazing watch. However, I found myself skipping through the last 4 episodes and even before that, I wasn't paying as much attention as I did in the beginning of the drama. As I was halfway through the drama I realised that the second couple was getting more screentime than the main couple, they got so much screentime they might as well have their own romance drama at this point! The main leads didn't even kiss until the second last episode which was BIZARRE to me considering it's "a romance of the little forest". I felt they dragged on the miscommunication between them as well as the second couple, so many episodes were wasted with the female leads hating their partners. They took the idea of a 'slow burn' way too seriously! Moving on to Yu Meiren (played by Esther Yu), she was insufferable at some points! I love the actress and her drama's but she was supposed to be smart and capable in this drama which they did show some parts of but overall her character was childish and annoying. There was WAY too much lying in this drama, Yu Meiren lied about almost everything! As I said before, they dragged out Zhang Yu finding out about her doctorate and actual lifestyle. I wish they got together in episodes 20/35 and then added drama near the end so we would've at least had a lot of time seeing them as a couple. In the time the main couple could've gotten together, the second couple dated, broke up, THEN DATED AGAIN! If you love a drama with not much romance but aesthetics and growing, this is the one for you. Apart from all this, the little kiss scenes between the main couple were 10/10! Vin Zhang doesn't disappoint. It was the same for the second couple. I will definetely not be watching this drama again in the near future but I hope Esther Yu and Vin Zhang are paired together again as their chemistry was ON FIRE.Was this review helpful to you?
Watch it for the Fashion, not for the plot.
I’ve had A Romance of the Little Forest on my watch list for a while and I was looking for a cute rom-com to watch with husband. The reviews were mixed, but to my surprise it started out pretty cute. This is the first drama I’ve seen with Yu Shu Xin since Love between Fairy and Devil. I know she gets a bad rap for her high pitched voice and sub-par acting, but she didn’t disappoint. She’s pretty consistent, in the sense, yes, she still has a high-pitch voice and her acting is a bit over the top, but she kind of makes it her own.
If you aren’t a fan of her, then you shouldn’t attempt this drama because her acting style is pretty over-the-top and some may find it annoying. At times I just thought it was comical.
I’m a major fan of Vin Zhang, he has an understated kind of acting style that is so effortless but effective. He didn’t disappoint in this one and his chemistry with the FL was pretty good. There isn’t much skin-ship in the drama, but plenty of tension.
The best part of the drama was the FASHION. The female lead NEVER REWEARS A SINGLE OUTFIT. I’m a big fashion buff and that was a HUGE enjoyment of the show for me. I know it’s silly, but it’s the little things.
Like I said, the first 20ish episodes were really cute and I got the typical C drama rom-com I wanted to get sucked into. Then the plot gets dragged out and we get a silly conflict and it kind of just makes the show a little sluggish.
I can see why the reviews are mixed. On one hand I really enjoyed half of the show, a lot and on the other hand, I was highly disappointed on the other half and kind of gave up. If it wasn’t for the fashion, I probably would have fast forwarded a lot more.
The drama didn’t need to be 35 episodes, a good 10 episodes could have been edited out. The secondary story line with the best friend and CEO was a little silly and his hair cut! Oh my gah, it was pretty awful. I couldn’t get into the secondary couple. Sorry.
Overall, watch for the actors, watch for the fashion, but you will be a little disappointed with the script.

Cute Romance
Overall I really like the story, the romance is slow but good. There were things that were annoying within the plot. The female lead character was really enjoyable out all the characters I like her the best.
The male lead was not that enjoyable at first but he became likable trough the show.
I think that the main leads romance was slow but really cute. It felt like they had a lot of chemistry.
One thing that I didn't like was the second couple. I found their romance a little bit disturbing and honestly at times it felt like they had to much screen time. Hate it.
The "villain" reasons to hate the female lead were stupid and honestly didn't make sense to me.
Overall I recommend this drama for the main story but honestly if you feel like skipping the second leads I don't blame you.

a fun romantic COMEDY drama
Yes, I caps all the "comedy" word in the headline because I couldn't stop laughing while watching the drama. As many people can relate, or someone read my reviews, I lean towards mature character & relationship between leads more. However, the actress Esther Yu, who played the lead character Yu Mei Ren has childlike voice, which creeped me out in the beginning. But, as I watched the show further, it became heavily comedic, to the point where, I thought Esther is the perfect actress to portray the female lead.
The story definitely has a potential to become one of the best romantic comedy drama, however, due to some lack of story-telling, it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. I will discuss some of the things that could've been improved. (some of them are more of a rant. So, bear with me :") )
- I feel like the main lead story was abandoned (it's the correct word to describe it). But instead, the screenwriter chose to focus and giving more scenes to the supporting role couple, which I think is the least interesting plot in the drama. I don't really know why the writer chose to support the trashy couple more than the main leads.
- Which brings me to: how this drama could've been a 20 episodes mini-series, or 35 episodes with 20 mins each. I think they can do a 35 episodes with 40 minutes each and focus more on the main lead couple because they don't have enough scenes for me to actually grasp the whole situation between the leads.
- I feel like the main lead couple lacks resolution too. In the story, the FL is pretending to be dumb and uneducated, but turns out, she's an honorary PhD student, who could've been working as a professor, or a scientist. I was waiting for so long for the FL to admit to ML that she is actually smart and educated. I was also looking forward to the ML's reaction to all of the FL's background. I don't know if I accidentally skipped the scene, but I couldn't find the scene. Instead, I was guessing myself all the time on each episodes like: "oh he knows already the FL's situation".
- I know it is a drama and it was supposed to be fun, but I was annoyed watching Jin Xi and Tian Tian couple story. For some reason, Jin Xi pretended he hurt his legs and went around in a wheelchair. In my opinion, the comedy for these scenes are very shallow. Disability is not supposed to be joked around with, especially when the party is pretending to be one. I automatically has the impression of them "mocking" and felt uncomfortable watching the couple's story, which leaves a bad aftertaste, hence I skip most of their scenes.
What I genuinely liked about the drama:
- The chemistry between Male and Female lead is excellent. I became a big fan of Vin Zhang after watching the drama - as I include him in my list as "one of the most good-looking actors in China". I also love both lead's acting too, they portrayed each characters very well. I think they are perfect for the roles.
- I find the Female Lead's behaviour (and yes, as wrong as it is: stalking) really funny, because I think she did it on purpose to push the Male Lead's buttons. --> she played him
- Also love the relationship between FL and ML's little brother, though it was brief (I think it only lasted for 2 or 3 episodes?)
- I love that the 2 leads are equally successful in their own ways and they are very smart and passionate about their jobs too!
- I love that; though the FL is making baby noises, doing cutesy stuffs, she can be scary and put together when needed. There was a scene where the FL confronted Xia Zhi for her bullshit and I was in love.
To conclude, I think the drama is decent, but definitely has areas for improvements. However, it's not totally unwatchable, as I think it's worth the watch. The comedy between the 2 main leads is the sole reason why I can keep watching the drama.

Really love their chemistry.. watched it for Xinxin but fell for Zhuang Yu.. I SWEAR I THOUGHT HE WAS A RED ONE BUT TURNS OUT HE'S SO GREEN! Well, I mean, he's a botany professor, after all! What I don't like about this drama is that I feel like the main couple doesn't really feel like a main couple? yk what I mean? Like their chemistry is fire, but we need more screentime and moments for the main lead!!!! (tbh this kinda made me like the 2nd couple LESS)but overall, it's cute, the main couple got me giggling and kicking my feet in the middle of the night!! i need to see them in a new romance, fluffy drama together!!! I often rewatch this drama on their scenes only hihihii, OH, AND, the ost they sang together is a banger hbfvefieufhue, it's on my repeated playlist song.

aa typical sweet cheesy cdrama...but with improvements
is this your absolutely typical sweet cdrama featuring cold hero and bubbly heroine? yes. but Mary Jane she is not!!! she is beautiful, famous, and has a Ph.D?! hell yes. also lots of great commentary about beauty as a construct and makeup as a tool for empowerment not because of shame...like honestly mind blown a bit there for this being a chinese drama.a lot of corny and unnecessary drama, particularly a whole couple episodes worth of the leads working undercover and a very annoying "villian" character that i think the show could have done without so plot wise sometimes felt clumsy towards the end, but overall a nice refreshing watch.
also 10/10 to the writer who kept making very self aware rom-com drama jokes and references

Disappointed
I’m sorry to say this but I had to drop this show. I have never seen this many stalkers in one show before. The only one not being a stalker is FL’s best friend. I tried really hard to finish but I just couldn’t. I really like the actors but it just ruined it for me with all the stalking, lying, abandoning and lies happening. So watch with caution it’s fun but just too much for me. I’m normally not that critical as I like dark romance but this was not it for me. They tried to make it okay that stalking and ‘coincidences’ happen all the time. just over all a no from me.Was this review helpful to you?
