Great Palette Cleanser If You Want A Break From Romantic Genre

There is still a tad of romance in here, it can't be helped. I couldn't enjoy another romance drama because Hidden Love set the bar so high. Found this and thought it would be the perfect palette cleanser. I was worried about how they were going to drag the story into 15 episodes, but after episode 8, I couldn't stop watching and had to finish the rest of the episodes in one sitting. The most frustrating moments for me were the time the police spent interrogating them. Also, they showed the backstory of most of the passengers but not much about He Yun and Shi Qing. I guess one is a game designer, and the other is a college student but what else 😂 I enjoyed this overall.

Solidly Paced, Binge-Worthy Suspense; Groundhog Day but More Intense + EXPLOSIONS

I'm not sure where the 15 hours went. It's wonderful to see a promising premise executed well via the smart plot and especially the actors. Extra points for the flawless production.

The plot is multifaceted and increasingly layered yet still SOLID. I especially appreciated that the main leads are given respective agency and how they COMPLEMENT one another's strengths and personalities in their attempt to solve the mystery and trying to prevent the explosion(s). Have already added more from Zhao Jing Mai and Bai Jing Ting to my to-watch list.

Even the villains in the story are given proper backstories and I appreciate the fact that they were not justified but still give a very logical (yet tragic) explanation.

One possible critique point for this drama is that I thought the head detective was portrayed in a way that I can only summarize as somewhat misleading. Perhaps I was reading into things but I think that could have been delivered better. However, I realize that perhaps there's a lowkey point being made here about the heroes here having to rely on themselves to dig deeper and investigate in order to solve the problem instead of on the system. If that is the case then it's one I appreciate well.

Definitely a binge-worthy drama through and through - perfect for those looking for a smart time loop story!

Rollercoaster (which has many loops) of emotions

When life gives you another chance, you should be grateful and take it.

We've probably all already seen a show involving a time loop. After sleep or death, one suddenly restarts the day and there is seemingly no way to escape this vicious cycle. Sometimes there is a clear task to achieve and sometimes it just seems random.

This is no new idea but the execution is what counts. And Reset pleasantly surprised me, already hooking me from its first scene.

The main culprit is an explosion on a bus and our protagonists have to relive the same scenes again and again until they obtain the best possible ending. It's like a game with almost infinite possibilities of detective work. We're slowly getting to know each of the passengers on board, each with a unique backstory - many heartbreaking but likeable. Our main characters probe different methods each time and go through many failures over and over but gain one clue after the other. Having acquired enough information, can they use it to resolve the case?

What makes this story are probably the characters. They are in their own special and mostly just ordinary people like you and me making them easy to emphasize with. The everyday conflicts they get into are often saddening to see. The watermelon guy definitely broke and warmed my heart making me spill tears.

As in most of these time loop stories, there is no explanation for the time loop. I wasn't expecting one but seeing such an explanation might have been cool.
I mean, recall what Lu Di said: It's only May and not August - how can there be a time loop?

This is definitely an excellent show and highly recommendable!

One of the best dramas I’ve ever watched!

First of all, I have to say that this is not the type of dramas I usually watch. I am more into romance and friendship dramas. But, I am so glad I’ve watched it.

I discovered this drama because it was one of the top 10 most rated. I watched the trailer and I thought “this doesn’t look to bad. Why not try it and see if this is overrated”. Which I did. And if there is one thing I can say, it’s that this is extremely far for being overrated. Even that, in my opinion, 9.1 is underrated.

I loved how this drama truly showed the meaning behind “never judge a book by its cover”. You can see when HeYun and ShiQing are trying to find who brought the bomb and they thought about everyone, except the two people that looked less likely to be the culprits (which they ended up being).

I also loved how they made the two main characters grow their trust in eachother and there wasn’t too much romance. Which I think was perfect, because too much romance wouldn’t have made this drama the same.

I could say so many good things about this drama, but one last thing I’ll say, is that the ending made me cry. In my opinion, there couldn’t have been a better ending that the one we got. This was super heartwarming and the little moment between HeYun, ShiQing and Zhang Cheng kinda makes me wonder if the detective ended up believing them..

Anyway, I would 100% recommend watching it to anyone and am definitely doing to rewatch it in the future.

Brilliant. Beautiful. Loved the ost. Acting was on point. I have nothing bad to say about this drama!

Personally, not very picky about shows

Honestly at first, I was a bit skeptical because the plot summary makes the show sound a bit bland. But it was a lot different from the mystery genre I'm used to that includes a murder, and they try to figure out who did it etc. This one is very different and then the ending is very conclusive, although we never figure out why or how they got into the time loop.

For story: Like I said, it is very creative in how they tell a mystery using a time loop. It might sound repetitive, but every loop is a little bit different from the last when they get more information to figure out how to fix the time loop. It also involves a lot of perspective on the accused side of how they deal with things and process sticky situations. As for romance, it's a little slow but there are some bite-sized romance stuffed in there, and it's not overly dramatic/cheesy.

Acting: AMAZING!! The actors definitely know what they're doing and they portray every emotion and personality perfectly. I comment on the acting a lot for the episode reviews lol.

OST: I don't know why but I especially love the ending song because it kind of fits with the main characters' relationship but also the other relationship too (that you'll see if you watch this). The singer also did a phenomenal job of singing the emotions of the song.

Rewatch: Usually, I don't rewatch things unless they're really good but for mysteries I like to watch them again to see the little details I didn't catch the first time because I know what happens.
TL;DR Amazing show with a spin on the mystery genre with slow but sweet build-up of romance and the ending has good closure on all the characters that leaves a little bittersweet feeling when you watch a good show.

“Reset”ting Drama Standards ?

Sometimes, a drama comes along that hooks you so completely, you barely realise you’ve reached the finale until it’s staring you in the face. That’s exactly what 开端 (Reset) does. A masterful take on the time-loop theme, this Chinese drama had me so captivated that I binged the entire series in just three days.

The story follows Xiao He Yun, played by Bai Jingting, and Li Shi Qing, portrayed by Zhao Jinmai, as they find themselves trapped in a relentless time loop aboard a bus that’s heading toward disaster. What begins as a desperate attempt to save themselves evolves into a complex and layered narrative about human connection, morality, and resilience. Both leads deliver stellar performances, making you feel as though you’re right there with them, unraveling the mystery and fighting against the clock. Their chemistry is organic and understated, with their shared experiences gradually building a bond that feels authentic and unforced.

One of the drama’s greatest strengths is its perfect pacing. Every moment is meticulously measured—there’s no filler, no unnecessary detours, just pure storytelling precision. It’s been so long since I’ve watched a thriller where every scene felt essential, and Reset delivers that in spades.

What’s equally impressive is the consistency across the entire cast. With the story’s repeated time-loop structure, every actor—lead and supporting—had the challenging task of portraying the same events multiple times while keeping their performances fresh and nuanced. From the bus passengers to minor background roles, everyone understood the assignment, adding depth and authenticity to their characters.

The writing is another highlight. The script doesn’t rely on overused or illogical plot devices to propel the story. Instead, it’s a no-nonsense, tightly woven narrative that respects its audience’s intelligence. While the ultimate resolution of the cause left me feeling slightly underwhelmed (just a minor gripe), it doesn’t detract from the overall brilliance of the show.

And, of course, I can’t forget the OST. “You Are My Only” is a standout track that perfectly captures the drama’s emotional core, enhancing the tension and heartfelt moments without ever overshadowing the story.

It’s hard not to note how criminally underrated Reset is. If this were a Kdrama, the internet would be up in arms about how exceptional it is, with fans singing its praises across every social platform. This drama truly is an underrated gem in every sense of the word.

Going in with minimal expectations, Reset completely blew me away. It’s easily one of the best dramas I’ve seen, combining edge-of-your-seat suspense with genuine emotional depth. If you’re looking for a series that will keep you hooked from start to finish, this is it. I’d rate it a solid 9.5/10—an absolute must-watch. 💎 🌟

This drama has a Groundhog-type time travel plot where the protagonists have to unravel a mystery in order to save lives. I think that the drama leaves some things unexplained but I enjoyed it a lot. I just wish that they had left the romance out because it did little for me and almost got in the way of the main story. Similarly, the two young main protagonists, as good as they were, were pretty much overshadowed by the acting and experience of the older actors, particularly the mother and father, who were both amazing. I would recommend this drama to anyone who wants a fast-paced drama with unexpected twists and turns.

MASTERPIECE

everything about this drama is PERFECT. from storyline, characters, character's development, cinematography, script, cgi, transitions, acting, they're flawless. the first episode got me intrigued and it makes you want to binge-watching this series. i like how they directed the plot because it made us feel more connected to the main leads as they thrown into mindblowing event. i loved the chemistry between main leads (bai jingting and zhao jinmai) they were very cute and seeing their character's relationship growth made me want to see them together again in another project. this series became one of my top three c-dramas that i will recommend it to everyone :D

p.s as a kdrama lover for a long time and someone who had a prejudice on cdrama, reset is most likely similar to kdrama style(?) idk just my feeling..

If you like c-drama and have not watch this yet, I would suggest you go and watch this! I think this is one of the best ones out there. If you like sci-fi mystery type of story, I would strongly suggest you watch this one. There has been so many reviews about this drama and most have mentioned what's so good about this drama. Although I'm not normally a fan of sci-fi or time travel stories, the reviews piqued my curiosity. I originally thought that I will be confused and bored and will write a not-so good review about this drama. But, boy oh boy, it does not disappoint! The drama is so intense that it keeps you at the edge of your seat most times. Each episodes dived deeper into the story and provides more context and background on the event (bombing of the bus) and the characters of the people on the bus. I like how they reveal bits and pieces at each episode and how it all connects at the end. The drama also deals with issues facing modern society almost everywhere (which is rare for c-drama), so I applaud this. The acting of the younger actors and actresses and the more mature ones are really good! I also really like the ending theme song (Zhou Shen surprisingly has a very good English pronounciation!)

I have been an avid drama watchers for years, and not just Cdrama. Reset certainly blew my previous experience away and made it into the top of my list of favourite drama. To be honest this is not even my usual genre that I usually watch but it has, hands down, beat all my other favourites and set a very high standard to all genres across the board in terms of story arc, scriptwriting, filming and acting. The cast in particular was very well chosen. To act in same scenes repetitively and still being able to capture the nuances and the subtle changes each scenes requires is extraordinary. Kudos to the directors. I've also found myself a favourite actress in the female lead. I'm looking forward to her next project with great anticipation.

This drama kept me on the edge of my seat!

I have never seen a 'loop' drama this good. I was holding my breath the entire time I was watching this show. I'm used to watching Chinese dramas with 24-50 episodes, but this one, though it only has 15 episodes, every character's backstory was perfectly relayed, and I'm glad all of the passengers got their full closure and happy ending.

The drama has a good mixture of suspense, thriller, mystery, crime, angst, and a little bit of humor and romance. If Amidst a Snowstorm of Love gave me a whole damn zoo, watching Reset, I was on pins and needles the whole time! I can't explain how I got so nervous every time they were being interrogated by the policemen. The policemen were scary but I appreciate how this drama perfectly portrayed how police should take action in real death and life scenarios. Hands down to all the characters in this show, everything was perfectly well executed.

I can feel the exhaustion of Li Shi Qing and Heyun the entire time they were in the loop. Imagine going through the same thing over and over again just to find clues and resolve their case.

I didn't expect Bai Jing Ting and Zhao Jin Mai chemistry to be this good. I wish to see them more together in the future as well.
